2009 Preakness Stakes Odds: General Quarters Listed at 9/1 to Win 134 Preakness
Even though he’s gotten off to a rather inconsistent start to the 2009 season, there’s plenty to like about General Quarters heading into the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made General Quarters a mid-range long shot to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes at 9/1 odds. General Quarters’ odds sit directly behind Papa Clem, who is 8/1 to win, and he’s also chasing Rachel Alexandra (3/2), Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird (7/2), Kentucky Derby runner up Pioneerof the Nile (6/1) and Musket Man (8/1).
Even though he finished a disappointing 10th at the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago and fifth at the Tampa Bay Derby on March 14, General Quarters has actually had a pretty good start to his 2009 season. He finished second at the Pasco S. at Tampa Bay Downs on January 17, and racked up two wins, one at the Sam F. Davis on February 14 and the other at the Blue Grass at Keeneland on April 11.
General Quarters is a 3-year old colt with an overall race record of 12-3-3-1 and has grossed $604,000. He was expected to be one of the thoroughbreds to upset the field at the Kentucky Derby at 10/1 odds, but he had an unspectacular showing of 10th.
