2009 Preakness Odds: Contender Luv Gov Mid-Range Long Shot at 20/1 Odds

It took 2009 Preakness Stakes contender Luv Gov a while before he won his first race, but he won his most important to date – his last.

Bet The 2009 Preakness Stakes

It took Luv Gov 10 races before he finally claimed his first victory, but it couldn’t have come at a more crucial time. The 3-year old colt won at the Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs on May 2, which was his final tune up before the Preakness.

While his career record isn’t anything to brag about, Luv Gov has actually had solid outings in his last four races. Outside of winning the Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs, he also placed second at the Maiden Special Weight at Keeneland, and back-to-back showings at the Maiden Special Weight at Oaklawn Park on March 5 and January 19.

Given those recent performances, Luv Gov might be a deep sleeper at the 2009 Preakness Stakes.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made Luv Gov a 20/1 long shot to win the Preakness. Oddsmakers favor Rachel Alexandra at 5/4 odds, Pioneerof The Nile at 4/1 odds, and Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird at 5/1 odds.
