2009 Preakness Odds: Friesen Fire Has Short Odds at 8/1 to Win
After a horrible showing at the 2009 Kentucky Derby, Friesen Fire will look to bounce back with a strong outing at the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes on May 16.
A lot of bettors had high hopes for Friesen Fire entering the May 2 Kentucky Derby race, but the 3-year old colt had a brutal showing, finishing 18th despite being one of the favorites.
One of the reasons bettors had liked Friesen Fire was because of his 2009 race history. He had won his previous three races entering the Kentucky Derby, winning at Lecomte Stakes on January 10, the Rising Star Stakes on February 2 and the Louisiana Derby on March 14.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have listed Friesen Fire’s odds to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes at 8/1. He’ll be challenged by early favorite Rachel Alexandra (3/2), 2009 Kentucky Derby Mine That Bird (7/2) and Kentucky Derby runner up Pioneerof The Nile (6/1).
