Thistledown - Race #3 - Post: 1:50pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $11,300 Class Rating: 78

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#1 ARROWSPHERE (ML=5/2)
#5 IMMACULATE HEART (ML=3/1)
#4 LORETTAS SONG (ML=9/2)

ARROWSPHERE - Sophisticated handicappers will tell you that this entrant has strong speed. Have to give this mare a good shot. Ran a nice race in the last race within the last month. I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a comeback. IMMACULATE HEART - Salazarbecerra was aboard this filly last out and was impressed enough to take the equine right back. Salazarbecerra's agent must enjoy anytime Atala gives them a mount; win percent together is fantastic. This filly's last speed figure earned on June 13th is utmost in last race speed figures. LORETTAS SONG - This thoroughbred ran outside the top 3 at Mahoning Valley Race Cour last race out in the mud. She should improve right here without a sloppy track. Ceballos and Faulkner teamed up together are a horseplayer's friend.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 HOT VALENTINA (ML=7/2), #3 SQUATCHINGWITHLYSS (ML=6/1), #6 SASSY ANGEL (ML=8/1),

HOT VALENTINA - This equine doesn't have a champion's attitude. Always finishes near the winner. SQUATCHINGWITHLYSS - Difficult to play this entrant this time out. Make her show you something in a short distance race before you play her in a race of 6 furlongs. Not normally the kind of horse one plays off of any kind of long layoff. SASSY ANGEL - Awfully difficult to bet on this horse when she hasn't been showing any indications of eagerness of late.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Bet on #1 ARROWSPHERE to win if we can get at least 3/1 odds

EXACTA WAGERS:

Parx Racing - Race #1 - Post: 12:55pm - Starter Allowance - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 73

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#1 DEERSTALKER (ML=9/2)

DEERSTALKER - I think Parx Racing players know a good thing when they see the jockey/handler tandem of Sanchez and Dominguez. Their win percentage together has been positive. This gelding is in nice form, having run a strong race on June 23rd, finishing third.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CURLIN'S KNIGHT (ML=6/5), #6 MUNTAHEZ (ML=5/2), #3 CATAPULT JACK (ML=7/2),

CURLIN'S KNIGHT - You always think this animal has a shot to be victorious, but he falls short regularly. Unlikely that this questionable contender can take the punishment of another hard stretch run after the last two efforts. MUNTAHEZ - Will probably be at the rear with way too much to do down the lane. CATAPULT JACK - You always believe this horse has a shot to be victorious, but he fails most every time.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Putting our cash on #1 DEERSTALKER to win. Have to have odds of at least 1/1 or better though

Odds shown are morning line odds.

Race 5 - Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $10000 Class Rating: 84

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NOT WON A RACE SINCE JANUARY 8. THREE YEAR OLDS, 124 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $4,000 PREFERENCE TO HORSES OF TRAINERS STABLED ON THE GROUNDS OF PENN

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 3 HAYNESFIELD BEST 30/1

# 4 WILDWOOD DANCER 7/5

# 6 FIREY GIZMO 12/1

HAYNESFIELD BEST looks to be a respectable contender especially at a such a nice price. Graci has him trained admirably to break sharply out of the gate. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Graci have shown strong results as of late. WILDWOOD DANCER - Has been racing solidly and has among the most favorable speed in the race for today's distance. He has been running soundly recently while recording very solid Equibase Speed Figures.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 5 TAKE THAT FOR DATA 5/2

# 4 NOBRAG JUSTFACT 2/1

# 9 MAJESTIC SIGN 10/1

TAKE THAT FOR DATA looks formidable to best this field. Must be given a shot based on the formidable speed rating put up in the last competition. Looks formidable for the conditions of this race today, showing solid numbers in turf route races as of late. NOBRAG JUSTFACT - Must be given a chance here on the basis of the figures in the speed realm alone. Have to play this horse with the solid earnings per start in turf route contests. MAJESTIC SIGN - Ought to go to the front end and should never look back. I like the jockey on this gelding - quite good chance to win the race.

Jeff Siegel's Day Makers - 7/8/20

July 8, 2020

JEFF SIEGEL’S NATIONAL DAY MAKERS FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2020
*

Jeff Siegel’s prime plays from around the country are offered on a daily basis to members of xpressbet.com and 1stbet.com. Always the day’s the cream of the crop, Day Makers emphasize price and wagering value and each selection should be given strong consideration both as a straight wager and as a key in vertical and horizontal exotics.
*

KEENELAND – 4th RACE. POST TIME: 2:45 ET
2 – IT’S MINE (5-1)

This daughter of Medaglia d’Oro shows the dangerous two-sprints-and-a-stretch out pattern for a barn that has excellent stats with this angle, and while her dirt form doesn’t jump off the page she does have a pedigree and a style that suggests she’ll improve going long on the lawn. Comfortably drawn inside in a race that projects to have softer than average early splits, she has enough natural early speed to possibly inherit the front end and given that kind of trip could get very brave. The S. Asmusssen-trained filly is listed at 5-1 on the morning line and will offer reasonable value at that price in a race that doesn’t appear to contain any world beaters.
*

KEENELAND – 6th RACE. POST TIME: 3:51 ET
2 – GREYES CREEK (3-1)

Was a highly impressive maiden winner at Churchill Downs in his second start off a long layoff, overcoming repeated traffic trouble to the head of the lane and then displaying superior acceleration once clear to win while being geared down late. The son of Pioneerof the Nile lands a good inside post and should draft into an ideal ground-saving trip while on or near the lead in this first-level allowance turf miler. His numbers have risen with every outing and we’re expecting another career top performance today from the C.. Brown trained colt. He’s 3-1 on the morning line and we’ll be happy to take that price if we can get it.

Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Canterbury Park - Race #4
Picks Notes
#1 Frosty Flirt Rousing local MCL winner did it on the dirt and sprinting, but she also did it off an October layoff, owns some solid local turf runs, drew perfectly, and meets a weak crew; call right back.
#3 Awesome Sunset Tactical miss was running well on the turf against better at Sam Houston, now makes her first grass start for a 20% Bravo barn, and should offer a square price too; would be no surprise.
#6 According to Aspen ML favorite was running well with competitive numbers when last seen here, but that was 9/1, so she's likely to need this, and would be a huge underneath if she's close to this price; tabbing.
Race Summary You should get fair value on the 1, and you need it, as taking on winners is never easy, but she has a world of confidence off that win and sure doesn't meet much, so play her to win and place, and especially to kick off the 10% takeout Pk5, as a repeat of her last makes her a big threat here, and kicking off the sequence at about $10 is never a bad thing.

Canterbury Park - Race #5
Picks Notes
#4 My Award Longshot added blinkers and woke up a bit for the first time, still has upside off just four lifetime starts, and while she rises in class, there's only one here to fear; bombs away.
#6 All Native Stiff favorite easily beat the pick on debut when 2nd last time and might lap this field if she runs back to it, but note she was 26-1 that day, and that's long gone; backwheel time.
#3 River Swan Tricky read was a distant 3rd at the level two-back then was in way over her head last time, so the drop makes sense, but consistency is not part of her package; underneath if at all.
Race Summary You're going to get a big price on the 4 to find out if the blinkers really made a difference, and while she has almost 10 lengths to make up on the 6, the gap could definitely close, and there's no one else here she needs to be worried about, so give her a look in all the slots, and in the 10% takeout Pk5, and to kick off the late Pk4 as well, since a win would blow up both sequences, and stranger things have happened, especially when you're talking Minnesota breds.

Canterbury Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#5 Greatest Gal Expected price player didn't have the smoothest of trips off the extended break last time, but her form last year was solid, and off that tightener she may move way forward; can surprise.
#1 Summer Lovin Class dropper goes from 10k to 5k, so she'll be bet hard off that, but she didn't run an inch last time, and her form looks to be going south, not to mention she's 0-for-7 locally; trying to beat.
#2 Victim Tricky read made her first start for Sterling and was a decent 5th at the level, in what was by far the best she's done of late, so if she doesn't regress, she'll be in the mix; exotics contender.
Race Summary You should sneak out better than the 7-2 ML on the pick, as the 1 will take a lot of action and a few others will too, so 5-1 or so seems like enough risk-reward to see if she can build off that comeback, so play her in all the slots, and in the 10% takeout Pk5, and late Pk4 as well, as she looks primed to shake off the cobwebs and run much better this time.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Mountaineer - Race #1
Picks Notes
#5 Nomiraclesneeded Showed a little bit of life in the late stages of that last one, and this spot is softer overall with just a couple of standout types to beat.
#6 She's a Trooper Reliable finisher tends to be there in the late stages, but she has lacked that final gear to punch home. Not sure I want too short of a price on a filly who can win this, but who has seven underneath slices in eight tries.
#10 Belle Magie Good local effort on the turf last time out, and something similar would be good enough to keep her in the mix. Still, thinking she'll find one or two a bit too good for her today.
Race Summary Nomiraclesneeded isn't out of the question at a fair price after passing a few late against $50,000 company at Churchill. The other two listed here have had 15 chances total and are pretty much out of excuses at what will be underlaid prices tonight.

Mountaineer - Race #2
Picks Notes
#4 Orbital Deity Has run well on the turf locally and should be a fair price in this spot after an even sort of try last out. If she can hold that form, she can play with these.
#2 Loopy Forward player tends to give away ground late, but she should have the front end to herself in this spot and might be able to finally get brave.
#6 Mountain Melodies At least a little bit interesting that Reed will give her a chance against this kind after the flat run that was her last for Maker. Turf is a question, but she had been a relatively consistent kind. Underneath?
Race Summary Orbital Deity has had 13 chances and does not feel like a good bet at anything below her 6/1 ML price, but she can get the right trip in a spot where the favorites are iffy.

Mountaineer - Race #3
Picks Notes
#1 Zurlin No getting around this one for me as she owns a long string of races that are simply better than what the rest here can offer. The price will be prohibitive, but she should be a real handful and makes tons of sense as a multi-race single on compact tickets.
#7 My Hat Owns some modest kinds of turf runs, but they might be decent enough to land an underneath share and spice up the gimmicks with the chalk on top.
#3 Her Name Is Star Was rolling late when falling short last time out, but the top choice is also a finisher, and she seems likely to outkick this one.
Race Summary Zurlin should only need to hold her form in order to handle this bunch, as she has faced much better than she's going to find in this spot.

Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

The Meadows - Race #3
Picks Notes
#7 OUTSPOKEN MAN Good effort while first over, has upset chance.
#4 HOLY MOMENT Finished third in split race that timed one second faster.
#6 KING STREET Chased fave from pocket, second in 3 of last 5 starts.
Race Summary Outspoken Man is worth a price stab at 20-1 on the morning line and should be used on exotic wager tickets. He’s 0-for-13 but he sustained a first-over rally alongside the favorites when third last week. Play a 4-6-7 exacta box.

Harrah's Philadelphia - Race #3
Picks Notes
#2 KENTUCKY PROUD Useful debut, can use his speed wisely in this spot.
#1 JK LUCKY CHARM Paced evenly in well-bet seasonal debut, has rail and Dunn.
#5 SWEET MILO Passed ‘Kentucky’ to finish third after long layoff for Team Burke.
Race Summary Kentucky Proud faded after chasing the two favorites through a :27 third quarter. He gets Lasix for his second start, draws favorably and should be a forward factor throughout.

Northfield Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#5 PSYCHOTIC VIRGIN All-or-nothing type play for new connections in seasonal debut.
#7 TWIST IT KARRY Has speed, held second in last two starts, has provisional driver.
#4 BEND THE KNEE Caught 7-1 pace-setter in slow final quarter to win.
Race Summary Psychotic Virgin has shown little in nine starts but could awaken on the barn change with Wrenn in the bike. She has little to beat, if ready, so play 5-4 and 5-7 exactas.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #6
Picks Notes
#9 Bourbon in May Was claimed two back by Maker stable, which does well with claims. He was bumped up in claiming price, failed and is back to the tag at which he was haltered. Has a good late move on many occasions and should be the one to hold off.
#8 Colonist Takes a significant class drop and was even in Grade 1, 2 and 3 races over the past two years. You have to wonder about the drop to this price, but it might just be what it takes to get him back into good form.
#4 My Point Exactly Just missed at this level two races back and had been in good form until his latest; will make them go for it early in the game.
Race Summary Bourbon in May fizzled in the step up in class off the claim and should find some major relief in return to the price at which he was claimed. Maker has had good luck with these types and can get a victory in this one.

Gulfstream Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#1 Allurstra Didn't fire vs. a tougher group in his latest but has several decent races on his form and can be a factor throughout.
#2 R Mercedes Boy Was on the board in his last four without a win; has tailed off a bit in sprints but could garner some courage as he does a mile today.
#6 Create Again Ran evenly in a much tougher race last time and should benefit from the drop in class; hasn't worked out as a $40,000 claim by Creque barn but this drop should assistant him.
Race Summary Allurstra has changed some tough customers lately and should find this company and a mile distance to his liking.

Gulfstream Park - Race #9
Picks Notes
#1 Baccarat Fashion Has been in graded stakes, allowance and top optional claiming races since last fall and can wake up on this class drop was a solid 3rd two back and can handle these.
#4 J's Indian Charm Ultra and ships in from Tampa, where he held on for a win three back; can be super tough if left along early.
#5 Bargainaire Was 2nd in her last three races and gets a favorable pace setup here; can bring a strong rally.
Race Summary Baccarat Fashion gets the drop she needs and can get back to good form against fillies and mares that have not seen many of her type; likely to improve.
