Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #4
Picks Notes
#2 Queen Letizia Lightly raced miss got to the dirt last time and really woke up off a no-show turf two-turn debut, has plenty of upside, and should only move forward off that tightener; look out.
#3 Perfectcombination Class dropper did't do a lot of running in two starts for Motion, albeit against much better, and while Kopaj is an unknown at 1-for-3 on the year, she does fit on paper; worth a look.
#12 Victory Crusade Dicey ML favorite broke from the parking lot on debut and didn't fire, and while she's off the Maker claim (15%) and lures Irad, she drew poorly again an will be overbet; not seeing it.
Race Summary That 4-1 ML seems like another GP miss, as the 2 will probably be favored, but even 5-2 or so, off such a sharp dirt debut, makes her playable, so a win and place bet would be warranted if the tote allows, though keying her in the early Pk5/Pk4 as well would guarantee a bit of value, while also allowing for more coverage in the deeper surrounding races, as she looks primed to lay down a race there rest of these simply won't be able to handle.

Gulfstream Park - Race #6
Picks Notes
#3 Joe Di Baggio In-form class dropper has been running big figures for this group, doesn't have a bounce like the chalk to worry about, and should be rolling late; mows them all down.
#8 Karen's Cove The chalk wins this for fun if he runs back to his last win, as that was a hug figure he laid down, but it also came from nowhere, so regression is possible; trying to beat.
#4 He Iz Gone Fl-bred didn't run an inch last time in a state-bred AOC, and now he's being given away for 8k, which is a very bad sign of such a dud, at underlaid odds too; tread lightly.
Race Summary You won't get rich on the 3 but there's a chance they really send it in on the 3, which means that 7-2 ML might stick, and in a race where no one else inspires, taking $9 or so doesn't seem that bad when you just have one to beat, so play him to win and place, and especially in the late Pk5, and to kick off the late Pk4 as well, since budget players will be singling 'Cove, even though he could be set to come back to the pack off such a fast win last time.

Gulfstream Park - Race #8
Picks Notes
#6 Crumb Bum Stretch runner got back on the beam last time when a good 4th behind a few here, will like the extra half-furlong, and catches a group with plenty of speed too; upset special.
#5 Flashing Diamond Dangerous miss was a fine 3rd over 'Bum off the break last time, and has a stalking gear to sit just off the speed, which will get her first run off the far turn; looms plenty scary.
#2 Midtown Rose The chalk will get bet hard for Irad and Joseph, and she was 2nd ahead of the top-2 last time, but this post and the other speed won't help, at a short price too; underlaid favorite.
Race Summary The price and the pace will be right on the 6, who could get completely ignored but has every reason to fire a big shot here into a race with plenty of pace, so give her a look in all the slots, and especially in the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since she's got a lot going for her here, yet a win would go a long way in blowing both sequences up.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Charles Town - Race #3
Picks Notes
#6 Venetian Drive Potential price player might have some chance to wake up on the drop, as one of her best career tries came with this type of company. Drops in with the boys.
#1 Baby Boy Dropper chased a 19-length runaway last time out, and this softer local group might be enough to get him over the top. Underlay?
#7 Village Prince Might improve off the slight break as the form was going the wrong way before the shutdown anyway. He's not far removed from some races that would keep him in the picture with these.
Race Summary Venetian Drive isn't the most likely winner in here, but the serious class relief should work in her favor as she faces the boys, and she can probably sit a bit closer than she did last out.

Charles Town - Race #7
Picks Notes
#1 Sudden Breeze Will need to elevate his game a bit in order to land this one, but he fired a good shot in his local debut, and the price will certainly be better than the 3/5 offering last out.
#4 Grumpelstiltskin Pace drops for this one, and he looks like the clear one to beat. That said, he's going to be a short number and he was beaten at even money with a somewhat similar group two starts back.
#7 Bacoli Tactical type isn't out of the question with these, but he does tend to give away ground late in nearly all his starts, so I prefer to limit him to the underneath spots in the gimmicks.
Race Summary Sudden Breeze should offer a fair price, and he proved he could handle the local footing last time out. He'll need better tonight, but at something like 6/1 or better, he'd be a reasonable play.

Charles Town - Race #8
Picks Notes
#3 Campy Cash Class dropper should hit pretty hard with these, and if you toss her last when she was never involved, her forward style should make her a big threat at this abbreviated trip.
#7 Mabel She's probably just using this race for fitness ahead of a two-turn run off the June '19 layoff, but she could be running late to pass the tiring speed players.
#5 At the Half Has some ability to finish from a bit off the splits, but she was 55/1 last time out and is maybe 7/1 here? Think she's going to find a few of these too tough.
Race Summary Campy Cash probably gets bet here, but she has a big class edge on these and has an excuse for her last when unable to race near the top like she prefers. I'll try to get Mabel into the gimmicks at a price to try to make this race pay.

Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

Scioto Downs - Race #2
Picks Notes
#6 PARKIN IN HEAVEN Romped when last seen, well spotted, can eclipse $100k.
#2 TURNITDOWNFORWATT Time away might have helped after ‘lame’ excuse, qualifier encouraging.
#8 ALWAYS WOGGY Steady check-getter, gets class relief, but starts from post 8.
Race Summary Parkin In Heaven widened the lead through a :56 middle half and won by a city block for her first win of the year. She has enough back-class to handle class rise and offers tempting 6-1 morning-line price. Play a 6-2-ALL trifecta.

Scioto Downs - Race #5
Picks Notes
#1 SPORTS SINNER Returned to winning ways from second tier, rail a big plus.
#2 IN TROUBLE AGAIN Useful return last week, recency edge could be the difference.
#5 THE GREAT BUZZ N Won 11 times last year, barn is hot since racing returned.
Race Summary Sports Sinner held deceptively good form from bad starting spots and he broke through with victory from the second tier. The 43-race winner remains a good value play on the class rise from the rail. Play a 1-2-5 exacta box.

Scioto Downs - Race #9
Picks Notes
#5 JOHNNY ROCKETTE Closed through :56.1 final half against stakes repeater, makes 3yo debut.
#3 FIFTY FLAT Carried his speed to two stakes victories as a 2-year-old.
#4 EPIC ACE Rallied for second from post 8 in qualifier, gets Lasix.
Race Summary Johnny Rockette was slowed by the pace and couldn’t foil the favorite’s repeat stakes victory when last seen in the fall. He gets Lasix for his seasonal debut and offers fair betting value.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Remington Park - Race #1
Picks Notes
#8 Capisci Lost by a length in her only start this year and Charette-Hill barn has done well lately; expect improvement here.
#5 Five Bar Silver Was an easy winner last time against N2L company; takes a step up in class and could surprise.
#4 Tellem Im Rockin Was in the mix in his last two and won two races back when Flores was aboard; hasn't won since early last year and fits with these.
Race Summary Capisci lacked late punch in her 1st since September and lost by a length; expect improvement in her 2nd back, and her connections have heated up in the past few weeks.

Remington Park - Race #4
Picks Notes
#4 Dreamin of Country Was a solid 3rd last time when top jock Flores took the mount, and he's returning for another run; can improve in her 3rd off the layoff.
#6 Te Ata Tales Dealt with a lot of traffic at the beginning and couldn't recover; has several races on her form that would make her a big player.
#3 Flashing Tosa Lost her best chance when she exchange bumps at the start of her latest; lost a photo two back and shouldn't be overlooked.
Race Summary Dreamin of Country has been on the board in 5 of 6 starts and has the can improve off her last, which was her 2nd of the year; Flores a big plus.

Remington Park - Race #5
Picks Notes
#1 Weapon First Bug Improved to 3rd last out and should be able to move up along the rail; has enough speed to keep position and should have something left.
#8 Change Furr Better Could be looking at a 5th straight 2nd-place finish; can in the hunt but will have to overcome the outside post.
#2 Lota Jail Time Hasn't draw well in three 870 starts and the ground-saving trip could get him part of the tri or super at a price.
Race Summary Weapon First Bug gets in the nod mainly because of his improvement in his last race and his post-position draw for this one.

Always check program numbers.
Odds shown are morning line odds.

Race 6 - Maiden Claiming - 250y on the Dirt. Purse: $15700 Class Rating: 64

QUARTER HORSE 250Y, FOR ACCREDITED OKLAHOMA-BREDS MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES THREE, FOUR, AND FIVE YEARS OLD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 124 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $10,000.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 4 JESS LIKE HENRY 6/1

# 8 DESIRED EFFECT 10/1

# 5 SYDONA 5/1

I've got to go with JESS LIKE HENRY. Has garnered reliable Equibase Speed Figures in short races in the past. I expect a competitive performance from this equine whose handler has one of the top ROI percentages with horses running at this distance and surface. With a decent 63 speed rating last time out, will surely be a factor in this outing. DESIRED EFFECT - Exhibits the look of a money-making play, averaging a solid 63 speed figure which is one of the top in this group. Is a contender - given the 64 Equibase Speed Figure from her most recent race. SYDONA - Has earned formidable speed figures in short races in the past. If you gander closely, this one has some longshot potential.

Charles Town - Race #5 - Post: 8:55pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $17,000 Class Rating: 43

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#1 BELLA FEMMINA (ML=6/1)

BELLA FEMMINA - Faced tougher last time around the track at Charles Town. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of contenders.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 MARYLEE (ML=5/2), #8 CRYPTOCROSSING (ML=7/2), #5 CELIA'S PRIDE (ML=9/2),

MARYLEE - Almost certainly won't make much of a mark this time out. CRYPTOCROSSING - Lackluster win percentage (1) with first timers for this sire, Hunt Crossing. CELIA'S PRIDE - Just can't wager on this questionable contender. Didn't show me anything last time around the track or on Mar 13th. This filly recorded a speed figure in her last race which probably isn't good enough today.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#1 BELLA FEMMINA to win at post-time odds of 1/1 or better

EXACTA WAGERS:

TRIFECTA WAGERS:
