Monday's Best Bet: Eagle Pass can ace the test at Will Rogers

Monday’s 9th race from Will Rogers Downs is a $17,050 Handicap event for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track (Post Time 6:15 p.m. ET).
#3 EAGLE PASS (4-1) attended below par fractions and gamely prevailed by a half-length in a local route April 17. The sharp early-pressing gelding captured half of his ten starts on dirt, and hit the board in four other main track events.
#8 Apalachee Bay (9-2) makes his first start in more than eight months. He faced stakes foes in his last six starts, and was an okay performer in California before that. He can pass horses and that might be a big plus in a race with plenty of pace.
#2 Hunka Burning Love (7-2) was reclaimed out of his last by Karl Broberg. He struggled in four starts versus salty foes at Oaklawn this year, but two of those races were in the slop. He is one of multiple early runners in this field, and might be the inside speed under David Carbrera.
#7 Stephen’s Answer (5-2) exits back-to-back local place finishes as the favorite. He went 7-for-15 last year and should make his presence felt throughout.
