*
It is recommended that Jeff’s selections be used to augment the reader’s own personal handicapping, though excellent results can be achieved by applying the rolling exotic strategy specified by Jeff’s analysis. Jeff’s recommended plays are intended for players with a moderate budget; however, readers are encouraged to adjust Jeff’s wagering strategy to fit their preferred investment level.

Grade A=Highest degree of confidence.
Grade B=Solid Play.
Grade C=Least preferred, or pass.

RACE 1: Post 1:00 ET. Grade: C+
Use: 1-Joe Benjamin; 6-Traceability; 8-Power

Forecast: The Friday opener is a difficult maiden $20,000 claiming turf miler. We’ll go three deep in our rolling exotics; you may find the need to use a few more. Traceability is improving with racing and with another forward move today may be capable of earning his diploma. A closing runner-up over this course and distance in a similar affair last month, the son of Munnings switches to J. Rosario, shows three nice breezes since raced, and with only two career races may have upside that most of the others don’t. At 6-1 on the morning line, we’ll put him on top. Joe Benjamin lands the good rail, removes blinkers, switches to P. Lopez and has rising speed figures in each of his three career starts. The son of Hard Spun should have enough speed to take full advantage of his inside draw and may even find himself as the controlling speed. Power finished far back at a big price when facing infinitely tougher maiden special weight foes in his debut in early February and is realistically spotted today for a barn that has solid stats with second-timers. With the switch to T. Gaffalione, the Brazilian-bred son of Midshipman will have every opportunity to show what he can do, so at 10-1 on the morning line we’ll toss him in.
*
*
RACE 2: Post 1:30 ET. Grade: C
Use: 4-Silver Maker; 9-Hail Michigan

Forecast: Silver Maker, purchased for $800,000 as a yearling, is being thrown away in just his third career start in this maiden $12,500 claiming main track miler by T. Pletcher. The son of Empire Maker failed to make a dent when facing maiden special weight foes in his first two career starts, most recently when beaten more than 16 lengths in a two-turn main track event last month while lacking speed throughout, but even in defeat earned a speed figure that makes him a fit in this bottom-rung affair. With the switch to L. Saez, he’ll get plenty of play based both on the huge class drop and the winning connections, but at even money on the morning there is no value to be found. Those who wish to look elsewhere can consider Hail Michigan, freshened since early February and dropping in class again for B. Tagg. His form looks bleak, but he has “buried” numbers that make him a strong fit in this league. With the switch to P. Lopez, the son of Bernardini should be close up throughout and have every chance. These are the two we’ll be using in rolling exotic play is a race that probably is best left alone.
*
*
RACE 3: Post 2:00 ET. Grade: C
Use: 2-Donder ‘n Blitzen; 3-Days of Spring; 4-Beasaichi

Forecast: Here’s another extremely difficult affair, this one for $20,000 claiming 3-year-old fillies over a mile on grass. Anything goes. Days of Spring is listed as the 5/2 morning line favorite and certainly looks as good as any. After being overmatched in her last pair while earning descending speed figures, the daughter of Uncle Mo returns to the level at which she was claimed in February, and with the switch to E. Zayas and with a prior win over this course and distance, she has a right to regain her best form. Donder ‘n Blitzen just won a race under identical conditions last month, capitalizing on a perfect pace-stalking trip to register an all-out victory in a race in which the field finished in a heap. If she can turn in two alike, the A. Sano-trained filly should be in the fray again. Beasaichi, a closing third in the same heat Donder ‘n Blitzen exits, was claimed for the second straight race, this time by low a profile barn. The good news is that she retains T. Gaffalione and was a decent runner-up to our top pick two races back. Look for this daughter of the Big Beast to be doing her best work from the quarter pole home.
*
*
RACE 4: Post 2:31 ET. Grade: C
Use: 2-Teenage Kicks; 3-Carolyn’s Smile; 5-Bird Map

Forecast: Here’s another maiden claimer, this one for $50,000 fillies and mares sprinting six furlongs on the main track. Bird Map makes a logical class drop from the straight maiden ranks and seems to have found a good spot after earning a decent speed figure when fourth in a productive race over this main track in early February. She shows a healthy recent series of workouts for N. Casse, switches to L. Saez, and should have every chance from a second flight, stalking position. Carolyn’s Smile is another showing up in a seller for the first time, removes blinkers, and will be making her second start off a layoff, so improvement is possible due to several factors. T. Gaffalione stays aboard and knows her well. Teenage Kicks is slower on speed figures than the other two main contenders but she, too, sports the maiden-to-maiden claimer angle and lands J. Rosario. The daughter of Into Mischief has some early speed and against this group projects in the first flight, perhaps even in front. At 9/2 on the morning line, we’ll consider her a “must use.”
*
*
RACE 5: Post 3:03 ET. Grade: C+
Use: 1-Algodonal; 4-So Charming

Forecast: We’ll try to survive and advance using just two in the fifth race, a restricted (nw-3) $16,000 claiming turf miler for fillies and mares. So Charming is logically spotted after winning a $20,000 non-winners of two over this course and distance last month with a good pace-stalking trip. She must pick up five lbs. off that victory but the V. Lebron/S. Joseph, Jr. team has been red hot of late and this veteran daughter of English Channel has speed figures that exceed par for this level. Algodonal, in her second off the claim for M. Eppler, likely will be the controlling speed from the rail. She was worn down close home in a $25,000 affair here last month while earning a speed figure good enough to beat this field, so as the morning line favorite at 5/2 she’s a logical main contender.
*
*
RACE 6: Post 3:34 ET. Grade: X
Single: 1-Take Charge Dude

Forecast: Take Charge Dude returns to dirt – he’s effective on any surface – and will dominate this starter allowance $8,000 field with anything close to his best, hence his morning line of 3/5. The S. Joseph, Jr.-trained gelding is quick enough to make the lead from his inside draw, and at this abbreviated sprint trip should be able to take whatever early heat the others dish out and then go on when called upon. There’s really no other option, and since he’ll be far too short to play in the win pool we can use him as a no-value rolling exotic single but otherwise sit out the race.
*
*

RACE 7: Post 4:05 ET. Grade: C
Use: 2-Get Rewarded; 11-Gioielli

Forecast: Gioielli is another one of those class-dropping T. Pletcher runners showing up cheap while clearly being culled from the stable. This lightly raced mare is a very short price favorite on the morning line after a poor run with a bit of trouble sprinting on dirt in a recent state-bred first-level allowance race. Today she shows up in a much softer restricted (nw-2) $12,500 affair while stretching out again to a mile and switching to grass, a surface she’s yet to win on, and she must do so from an unfavorable outside draw. Let’s just say we’ve seen better 6/5 morning line favorites than her, though it wouldn’t be surprising in the least if she took control early and kept on going. Those looking for a tote-busting long shot may want to examine Get Rewarded, victimized by a wide trip when unplaced in a $16,000 seller last month but a winner (before being disqualified) in a $25,000 non-winners of two over this course and distance to runs back. She has a good stalking style and will have dead when it counts for low profile connections that ensure a decent price.
*
*

RACE 8: Post 4:36 ET. Grade: B+
Single: 8-Four Graces

Forecast: Four Graces is one of six entrants in this stronger-than-par first-level allowance main track miler for 3-year-old fillies exiting a maiden win. She was the most impressive of the bunch and earned the best speed figure as well, so rather than spread the race let’s take a stand and single the daughter of Majesticperfection. In her debut win last month at seven furlongs, the I. Wilkes-trained filly flashed good gate speed from the rail to establish the pace under heaver pressure to the head of the lane, then found reserve energy when asked and kicked clear impressively while indicating that the extra furlong of today’s race won’t bother her in the least. Drawn comfortably outside, she can pop and go or settle and pounce, giving C. Landeros the ability to assess the race flow during the long straightaway half mile run before the field reaches the far turn. At 3-1 on the morning line we’ll gamble that she’ll complete the task and make her a strong win play and rolling exotic single.
*
*

RACE 9: Post 5:07 ET. Grade: C
Use: 1-Direct Approach; 3-Positive Phil; 4-Crypto Gold; 5-Youshouldbesolucky

Forecast: This wide-open grass grab bag for $20,000 claimers has several possibilities, so we’ll use four in our rolling exotics including two at nice prices. The likely favorite is Positive Phil, listed at 5/2 on the morning for J. Rosario and M. Maker, a jockey/trainer combo that you don’t see very often. The son of Paynter drops a notch below his claim level after finishing a solid third over this course and distance last time out despite being carried out and losing valuable ground that might have cost him the race. Today, from a comfortable 3-post draw, a good, ground-saving trip is pretty much assured, so there should be no excuses. Youshouldbesolucky, a solid runner-up in a softer $16,000 restricted affair three weeks ago while earning a par speed figure for this level, switches to E. Jaramillo and is another that projects to enjoy a good second flight trip and have every chance when it counts. Direct Approach, somewhat appealing at or near his morning line of 8-1, lands the good rail and should draft into a good spot after being forced wide when rallying too late against a strong field last time out. With a bit of help up front, his late-running style could allow the Congrats gelding to outrun his odds and maybe do even more than that. Also worth tossing in is Crypto Gold, a maiden claiming winner here last month with a good rally-wide late kick. He’s the “other” M. Maker entrant and picks up L. Saez, so at 10-1 on the morning line he provides a chance at a nice rolling exotic playoff.
*
*

RACE 10: Post 5:38 ET. Grade: X
Single: 11-R Man Joe

Forecast: It’s really difficult to get past R Man Joe in this maiden special weight turf sprint, so much so that we expect he’ll go lower than his morning line of 9/5. The speedy Kantharos gelding shows rising numbers with each start and most recently missed by a neck after being worn down late in the Texas Glitter Stakes over this course and distance, a performance that if repeated today seems likely to be more than good enough to beat this field. The outside 11-hole post shouldn’t be problem for a gelding that seems capable of exerting his superiority before the field turns for home, if not sooner. He’s a short-price rolling exotic single to finish out the Friday program.

Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #2
Picks Notes
#7 Finally The chalk was bet down to 2-1 on debut and was a fast-closing 3rd, just a half-length behind, and a repeat wins this, and that's likely the least of what he's doing off that initial run; imposing.
#5 In Honor of Artie Price player was last-of-10 from a bad post on debut but really woke up when a close 4th last time, and while the 45-1 is long gone, he will still offer some value; can spice up your exotics.
#1 Lastfortinofamily Tricky read didn't run a step last time for 32k and drops again, and is a first-time gelding too, so while he's tough to trust, maybe the ultimate equipment change is a wakeup; tread lightly.
Race Summary You certainly won't get rich on the 7 but that 5-2 ML seems more than fair, as his debut was sharp, he has a world of upside, and sure doesn't meet much, so play him aggressively to win and place, while getting some added value by singling him in the early Pk5, and to kick off the early Pk4 as well, since he looks primed to lay down a race the rest of these simply won't be able to handle.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #4
Picks Notes
#5 Clean Fun Longshot has been bet a bit in both dirt starts but didn't do much running, but now switches surfaces for a hot Sweezey barn, has a bit of turf pedigree, draws much better here, and meets no one she's supposed to be scared of either; bombs away.
#4 Honesta The gal to beat will be tough if she repeats her last, when a solid enough 2nd behind an easy winner, in what was her first start for Delgado and over the course too, but that was also her best run, so she could regress, at false odds too; second-best.
#1 Ray's Silver Storm Well-drawn miss has been doing the dirt thing of late, but she's bred for the grass, and note her lone turf try, while abysmal, was against MSW foes, so she can be forgiven a bit, and it's clear she's better now than she was then too; worth a look.
Race Summary You need to be a bit imaginative on the 5, since neither of her dirt runs says she has much talent, but the surface switch and extra turn could wake her up, and it's not like the favorites are world beaters, so give her a look in all the slots, as well as the early Pk5/Pk4, and to kick off the late Pk5, as not many will be looking her way, which means a win will blow up all three sequences in a big, big way.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #7
Picks Notes
#3 Tale of V K Class riser ran off early then held late to beat lesser last time, but note the two behind her also both cleared the level (and are in here), so that was a solid race, and she looks like the controlling speed here as well; come and catch the pick.
#5 Lady Breanna ML favorite was in against tougher on the turf last time but was a good 2nd at the level two-back, though she's been running longer, which means she may have trouble reeling in the pick off the turn at this shorter distance; runs out of room late.
#9 Risen Change Fellow recent N2L winner did it impressively off the Wilson claim, at 23-1 too, and sure, this group is tougher and she could bounce off such a come-from-nowhere run, but if she's anywhere near this 8-1 ML, she's worth a look; do not ignore.
Race Summary That 7-2 ML on the pick seems fair, and it's never a bad thing to take a class riser off a win in these N2L or N3L's, as opposed to some who have been mired in the condition for a bit, so play her aggressively to win and place, while getting some added value by keying her in the late Pk5/Pk4, since she looks to have a tactical edge here, and the cutback a half-furlong sure won't hurt her early speed either.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #4
Picks Notes
#3 Carolyn's Smile Blinker come off for this one after a decent enough fourth last out. Think she's going to be in line for a really nice trip.
#5 Bird Map Finisher might wind up with a bit too much to do in the lane, but the form looks competitive otherwise on the drop. Might get overbet.
#2 Teenage Kicks Would want a fair price on this one after the dull effort last time out, but if she can get back to the two-back effort, she'd be in the picture here.
Race Summary Carolyn's Smile drops and sheds the blinkers today, and her dirt form is really solid compared to most in here.

Gulfstream Park - Race #8
Picks Notes
#4 Four Grands Did everything nicely in the debut when tracking from close range and running off late, and she should be able to work out a similar type of trip today. Slight edge in a really good race.
#8 Four Graces Another with a sharp debut win under her belt, and she draws well to prompt the pace while outside the other speed.
#3 Sweet Mia One of the few in here to have faced winners before, she might get a bit overlooked thanks to a trio of big figure maiden winners. Wouldn't surprise on top.
Race Summary Four Grands gets the call in a very salty race for the level with multiple horses who could be any kind off their debut wins. There's no reason the added ground of this mile trip should bother her too much.

Gulfstream Park - Race #10
Picks Notes
#7 Allegedly Perfect Tactical type might like the move to the turf and should offer a solid price in this second start off the layoff.
#11 R Man Joe Nearly graduated in stakes company last time out when second by a neck, and his dangerous speed is going to put him right in the mix again as he drops back in with friends.
#6 Caribbean Gold Tactical route player cuts back for this and might be able to get a decent finishing run from off what may a solid set of splits.
Race Summary Allegedly Perfect wouldn't have to move up a ton in order to threaten for top honors, but R Man Joe is clearly the one to beat off his near-miss in stakes company last out.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Remington Park - Race #2
Picks Notes
#2 JS Shezaquickchick Ran an even 4th in a stakes event last out and can take command early on in this one; can get her 2nd win in her 3rd start.
#8 Power Fade Ran an even 3rd in a trial last out and can be effective taking a straight path here.
#3 Triple Sab O Tage Was up in time for an impressive maiden win and takes a step up in class; well-connection and ready for another good effort.
Race Summary JS Shezaquickchick is still a little green, like much of the 2-year-olds; finished with interest in a tough final last time and can get the job done tonight.

Remington Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#2 Corona Senator Just won at 550 yards and turns back to 440, which should be now problem; 7-year-old continues to show a lot of gameness.
#3 Ihaveallthecontrol Made a decent run and was getting to Corona Senator last time; fits at this distance.
#4 Confidential Class Didn't break well in his 1st of the year and likely will be close throughout this one; capable of a good effort.
Race Summary Corona Senator is in good form and dug in for a nice win last time out; should be able to repeat here.

Remington Park - Race #8
Picks Notes
#5 SM Lexis Chick Has quite a starter allowance rivalry going with Mansory, and they've split their two races together; this one fired a good 2nd from the No. 12 post last time and can get the win if she runs back to that one.
#8 Mansory Seeks his 3rd straight win and definitely has found his level; comes off a narrow score over SM Lexis Chick and can he a factor for every yard of this sprint.
#9 Polar Xpress Was just a neck behind SM Lexis Chick last time out and has been solidly in the mix in most of her races; game.
Race Summary SM Lexis Chick brings her best most of the time and can win this with a good break; rates the edge in an outstanding heat.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 5 RIDE TO THE WIRE 3/1

# 2 ICE SPHERE 9/2

# 6 ADMIRAL BROWN 7/2

RIDE TO THE WIRE is my choice. He has been running solidly and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the best in this group of horses in this race. Roberts will probably be able to get this horse to break out early in this event. Has been running in the most competitive company of the field lately. ICE SPHERE - Recorded a strong speed figure in the latest race. Can run another good one in this affair. ADMIRAL BROWN - Ran a strong last race. Is worth looking at and may be a wager - strong Equibase Speed Figures (74 average) at today's distance and surface recently.

Race 1 - Claiming - 550y on the Dirt. Purse: $12400 Class Rating: 70

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

# 5 DASHING FOR SUCCESS 6/1

# 2 POP THE CLUTCH 10/1

# 1 TATE OR CHIP 2/1

DASHING FOR SUCCESS is my choice. Hard to pass on this gelding with Baca in the saddle. Looks formidable versus this group of horses in this race and will almost certainly be one of the leaders. Garnered a competitive speed rating last time out. POP THE CLUTCH - Looks strong for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid figures in longer quarter horse races lately. Could provide positive profits based on quite good recent Equibase Speed Figs with an average of 62. TATE OR CHIP - She has solid class ratings, averaging 78, and has to be considered in this contest. Has run well when travelling a longer quarter horse race.

#3 DONNAMEUP (ML=7/2)

DONNAMEUP - Last time, was entered in a race at Tampa Bay Downs in a race with a class number of 63. Dropping drastically in Equibase class figure this time around puts her in a solid position in this field. Classic angle - 3rd or 4th start after a vacation generally leads to a big effort. Today could be the day.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 DRIVE IN (ML=5/2), #9 WILDCAT MERRY (ML=3/1), #7 BRYCENS GOLD (ML=6/1),

DRIVE IN - Don't believe this horse will do much running in today's event. That last speed figure was run-of-the-mill when compared with today's Equibase class figure. WILDCAT MERRY - Hard to put your dough on this speed merchant. Too much zip in the event. BRYCENS GOLD - Don't think this runner is worth 6/1 in this event.

#6 TRACEABILITY (ML=6/1)

TRACEABILITY - I expect a lot from this horse. His Equibase speed figures under similar conditions are tops in this field. The March 8th event at Gulfstream Park was at a class level of (89). Dropping down the class scale significantly, so he should be in a good spot to win. This colt has the top turf rating in his last race. It doesn't take a college grad like The Brain to figure this here entrant has a good chance.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 WINNING FACTOR (ML=7/2), #1 JOE BENJAMIN (ML=4/1), #3 BEBEAU (ML=9/2),

WINNING FACTOR - This colt is always in the money, but just doesn't win. Difficult to bet on him on the front end. The speed figure last race out doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's affair. Mark this thoroughbred as a vulnerable competitor. JOE BENJAMIN - Didn't do a whole lot last time. Probably won't make a winning move in today's race. Finished third in his most recent effort with a somewhat easily forgotten speed rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this field. BEBEAU - Recent dropping speed ratings of 86/82/77 give an indication that this horse may be going off form. This horse doesn't have a conquering demeanor. Always finishes close, but no cigar. Recorded a pedestrian speed fig last out in a $32,000 Maiden Claiming race on March 11th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that number.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - TRACEABILITY - Analysis shows this colt's last speed number of 88 is as good as any. Don't overlook this colt in your betting.

Gulfstream Park's late Pick 4 on Friday begins at 4:10 p.m. ET with Race 7 and ends with Race 10.

Gulfstream Park 7th
11 Gioielli (6-5)
Comes in off a poor dirt sprint. Has been competing at the state-bred allowance level and now drops into straight claimer. This is probably the right spot for her and considering the racing situation, the drop is not overly concerning here. The most likely winner.

12 Whiskarita (9-2)
Drops to an appropriate level. She's raced just six times, so she's not the proven loser that many of these in here are. Will look to follow Gioielli, drawn just inside her, and if they are able to cross over and not get hung wide, she may have first run.

2 Get Rewarded (12-1)
Actually cleared this level two starts back at Tampa Bay Downs but was disqualified. I'm concerned that she was then dropped in class for her next race and didn't fire, finish eighth. A return to previous races would give her a valid shot.

6 Magic River (6-1)
Usually competitive, she takes a one-level drop here and retains jockey Paco Lopez. A slow start last time left too much for her to do. Should be able to track closer this time.

5 For Kicks (12-1)
Consistently runs a good final fraction but often runs into trouble. She's now 1-for-19, so it's hard to make excuses for her, but this is a field she is competitive with. May be able to close fastest of all.

A: 2,11,12
B: 5,6

Gulfstream Park 8th
5 Finding Fame (4-1)
Won debut impressively for Shug McGaughey. The stretch-out to a mile makes sense. Looks strong.

8 Four Graces (3-1)
Won debut for Ian Wilkes. Similar to McGaughey, Wilkes is not known for winning with first-time starters. This daughter of Majesticperfection might be very talented. Obvious contender.

7 Good Credence (6-1)
Last raced in October. Brings competitive figures earned as a 2-year-old. If she has improved at all and is ready to fire off the bench, she has a chance.

4 Four Grands (7-2)
Dale Romans trainee won her debut as the favorite. Her Beyer Speed Figure (66) was not as flashy as Finding Fame's (74) or Four Graces' (83), but she can improve in her second start. Pace factor.

A: 5,8
B: 4,7

Gulfstream Park 9th
3 Positive Phil (5-2)
One of two in here for trainer Mike Maker. Makes his second start off the claim and drops one level after a close third. Should be able to find a good stalking trip from this post.

4 Crypto Gold (10-1)
The other Maker horse. Finally broke maiden last time in 13th start. Eligible for the old light-bulb angle. (The light bulb finally comes on, and the horse never goes back.) His figures are competitive, and he is one of the more consistent closers in terms of final fractions.

5 Youshouldbesolucky (7-2)
Finished second in three of his last four races. Owns best last-race Beyer Speed Figure (78), which is also the second-highest any horse in this race has ever run. A repeat of that effort would be tough to beat.

8 Dillon Rocks (6-1)
Similar to Crypto Gold, this Paynter colt broke his maiden in his last race (15th start). Had been trying tougher for most of his career. Seems to finally be at the right level. Competitive in here.

A: 3,4,5,8
B: None

Gulfstream Park 10th
11 R Man Joe (9-5)
Hard to look past. Exits strong run (second) in stakes and now returns to maiden field. Proven speed should be on the lead and may not look back.

12 Fluent in Sarcasm (12-1)
Ran decently in turf sprint at Del Mar in August. Return race was taken off the turf. Now returns to the turf with a chance for the upset.

9 Shared Legacy (6-1)
Winless in seven career starts, but last race was his first turf sprint. Ran his best race yet; this may be his preferred trip. As a 4-year-old he may have an advantage over R Man Joe and Fluent in Sarcasm, who are both 3.

6 Caribbean Gold (8-1)
I'm not usually a fan of the turnback on turf, but his first race was encouraging. He made a little middle move closing into a fast pace. Picks up jockey Luis Saez and has continued to train forwardly. Could be the right midpack closer if R Man Joe falters.

A: 11
B: 6,9,12

Jonathon Kinchen

Friday's late Pick 4 at Oaklawn Park begins with Race 7 at 5:06 p.m. ET and ends with Race 10.

Oaklawn Park 7th
I am going to use three horses -- 5 Tight Ten (6-1), 7 Tez (8-1) and 11 Lighthawk (7-2) -- in a race that is pretty tricky. Most of these horses haven't won a race in 2020, but Tight Ten and Tez both won their last start. They are also trained by two high-percentage trainers (Steve Asmussen for Tight Ten and Tom Amoss for Tez). Asmussen has been cold, but his horses haven't been running poorly; he is due. I am also going to use Lighthawk for Robertino Diodoro. Lighthawk hasn't won in 2020, but he has been right there at a short price. He also has a win over the track. For backup purposes only, I'll use 12 Federal Case (8-1), who had severe trouble at the break last time and had no chance chasing a slow pace.

A: 5,7,11
B: 12

Oaklawn Park 8th
This feels like the perfect opportunity to try to beat 7 Dreamalildreamofu (5-2). She ran well on debut at the Fair Grounds on the turf and came back in her second start and won on the turf. This is a turf horse. I'm fading her. 2 Strong Flag (7-2) ran a big figure last time and is the type of horse I would like to single, but I don't trust the previous race because it was on a sloppy track. I am sure she will be fine, but I can't waste a strong opinion trying to beat the favorite with one horse being a question mark. 3 Piece of My Heart (10-1) ran a nice figure in her last race and has some nice figures that put her right there against this group. 8 Lady McKenzie (12-1) moves up in class but is interesting at a nice price. She has been glued to the rail in her last two races, and she might appreciate this outside draw.

A: 2,3
B: 8

Oaklawn Park 9th
4 Candy Cornell (5-2) ran fast in the slop last time, but he ran fast in the two starts prior to that, both on a fast dirt surface. He is tactical enough to make the lead if he wants it, but he has also shown the ability to sit off horses. Single.

A: 4
B: None

Oaklawn Park 10th
I am going to lean on all of the first time starters: 1 Ready N Waiting (5-1), 2 Inshannity (3-1) and 8 Offering (9-2). Steve Asmussen, who trains Ready N Waiting and Offering, wins at 17 percent in his career with firsters, and Bob Baffert, who trains Inshannity, is at 22 percent. It's also important to note that Baffert's wife, Jill, owns this 4-year-old filly. Once upon a time this filly worked with Baffert's multiple Grade 1 winner McKinzie. She has obviously had issues getting to the races, but she clearly has some talent. None of the runners that have already run have shown me much, but I'll use 9 Freedom Passage (4-1) as a backup because of the back-to-back second-place finishes and experience.

A: 1,2,8
B: 9

Wagers
All-A ticket
$3 Pick 4: 5,7,11 with 2,3 with 4 with 1,2,8 ($54)

Three-A, one-B tickets
$2 Pick 4: 12 with 2,3 with 4 with 1,2,8 ($12)
$2 Pick 4: 5,7,11 with 8 with 4 with 1,2,8 ($18)
$2 Pick 4: 5,7,11 with 2,3 with 4 with 9 ($12)

Two-A, two-B tickets
$1 Pick 4: 12 with 8 with 4 with 1,2,8 ($3)
$1 Pick 4: 12 with 2,3 with 4 with 9 ($2)
$1 Pick 4: 5,7,11 with 8 with 4 with 9 ($3)

Total wager: $104
