Los Alamitos - Terry Turrell

FIRST RACE

#3 IZZY’S INPUT improved effort showing speed to deep stretch tiring late to be third, adding blinkers tonight for trainer Marcia Stortz. #4 CHROMES LIL SIS overmatched in her last start but is strictly the one to beat off strong effort in December during the LRC meet finishing fourth. #1 IN IT FOR LIFE exits same heat as the top choice finishing second, rail draw a plus. Longshot - #5 INDIAS LUTE

SECOND RACE

#6 FED HIKE trained San Luis Rey Downs before shipping to Los Alamitos for his final three drills prepping for his racing debut, conditioner Felix Gonzalez does well with first time starters. #5 HE’SALITTLEWILDCAT another first time starter with a long work tab Los Alamitos for trainer Oscar Heredia draws inside the top choice. #1 LEROY PEGASUS on the bench since January of 2019 has traveled from San Luis Rey Downs to Turf Paradise and back to Los Alamitos to make his come back race. Longshot - #4 EURODOLLAR

THIRD RACE

#5 SURFING ANGEL disappointing effort Turf Paradise making first 2020 start tiring after setting the early pace, speed drawing the outside post in good spot facing bottom level claimers, touch of back class to his credit. #1 BRAVE ACTION ships from Arizona to Los Alamitos drawing the rail and should take to the quick Los Alamitos surface. #2 REAL QUICK drops to his lowest level to date, all six career wins locally and will keep the pressure on throughout. Longshot - #3 FANDAREL DANCER

FOURTH RACE

#2 IT’S JUST BOB three wins from his last five starts and returns to competitive level after rough trip facing tougher 870-yard foe. #5 SEATTLE ENCOUNTER after three straight runner up efforts he took command with a strong late kick winning with gas in the tank. #7 OVER EZ shipper from Arizona with eight career wins from thirty nine starts to his credit, high percent conditioner Adriana Vallejo winning at a thirty-three percent clip from her last twelve starters. Longshot - #6 SHADOW OP

FIFTH RACE

#1 JUSTAMITCH ten-year old gelding raced wide trip throughout losing his best chance, draws the rail tonight with speed to gain command early. #6 TOMMY WEAVER on the shelf since 2018 served notice with bullet 47 work Mar 20 proving best of ten, value drawing the outside post in field of six. #3 OLDER BROTHER shipped down from Golden Gate battling from flag to wire proving best by a head for the Lucas/Dominguez team. Longshot - #4 TACY

SIXTH RACE

#6 MINI SPEIGHTS filly broke her maiden in fourth career start and will be facing winners for the first time, adding Flipping Halter drawing the outside post in field of six. #3 FLYIN THRU FIRE contentious field and this filly will improve off troubled 2020 debut. #2 SAN DIEGO FIRE disappointing effort as the odds on choice losing best chance at the start, chance to make amends. Longshot - #1 HAWKS VALENTINE

SEVENTH RACE

#5 DOCTOR GENE bumped brome both sides at the start losing all chance is one of two entries from the Scott Willoughby barn, outside post edge for top billing. #1 BONO IS GOOD the other runner from the Scott Willoughby barn draws the rail, regular rider Vinnie Bednar aboard. #4 COME FORTH strong showing finishing second for high percent trainer Roberto Dominguez, adding Flipping Halter tonight. Longshot - #2 LONG TIME FAVORITE

EIGHTH RACE

#4 FLOKIE won making first 2020 start and for the Lindolfo Diaz barn with jockey Jesus Ayala at the controls. #2 YOU CAN RUN four wins from eight career starts and is two for three this year, regular rider Jesus Ayala opts to ride the top choice and will be replaced by jockey Oscar Andrade tonight. #9 TELL CARTEL back to back wins for trainer Matthew Fales and jockey Ruben Lozano working on third straight and the hat trick. Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Oaklawn Park - Race #2
Picks Notes
#9 Dinner at Crumies Longshot has been mired on the rail in both starts, moved forward last time, wasn't too far behind the chalk, and will be a big price; bombs away.
#11 Explosive Humor Aforementioned chalk beat the pick last time, but only by 3 1/2 lengths, so while he's a more likely winner, he has no margin for error; trying to beat.
#7 Big Macintosh Logical sort has run just twice, so he has upside, but he also wants to be on the lead, and 'Humor will be pressing him the whole way; underneath only.
Race Summary The price, the post, and the race flow all seem to work for the 9, who will be completely ignored but makes the often key third start of his career, finally gets off the rail, and really isn't far behind the best here, so with the right risk-reward you can give him a look in all the slots, and in the early Pk4 as well, since a win would completely blow the sequence up.

Oaklawn Park - Race #4
Picks Notes
#1 Azylann's Dream Price player improved off the Matthews claim, drops slightly in class, meets a very average group, and should trip out just off an abundance of speed; upset special.
#6 Heffington Closer goes off the claim for Broberg, a big 27% angle and adds blinks for a bit more focus, and while the barn is cold here, this guy looks primed; the one to beat.
#10 Zanshoes MSW dropper was in with Ark. breds last time but this is still a weaker group, has the right style to run on late, and will be a square price too; comes along for a share.
Race Summary There's a lot to like about the 1, who makes the third start of his career against a group there for the taking, and a lifetime maiden who will be favored, so give him a look in all the slots, and especially the early Pk4 as well, since this is a wide open race, and he's got every right to make a dent, which would knock out a lot of tickets.

Oaklawn Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#2 Dance Away Homebred is 20-1 on the ML but goes for a Garcia barn that is 2-for-3 with firsters and 4-for-22 on the year, so there are some small but positive stats here, some big works as well, and a group that he wouldn't have to freak against to be a player; why not?
#5 One Step The chalk will be bet hard for Cox off the drop in class and with her speed, and is clearly the gal to beat here, but she's burned a lot of money in her three starts, seems to be going backwards, and will be a big underlay as well; plenty scary, but no lock.
#9 China Cat MSW dropper needs to be respected on that alone, as this is not a group that could make a dent there, and she has to a certain extent, but she also hasn't been seen since a no-show at Belmont in June and now runs for a tag, which isn't a good sign; tread lightly.
Race Summary Ideally you'd like to see a little tote action on the 2, as she is a real unknown, but the price should be right, the barn has shown it knows what it's doing, and who here is she supposed to fear, which means you can give her a look in all the slots, and even on a flier in the Pk5 and late Pk4 as well, since no one is going to look her way, which means an improbable win would really blow things up.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Golden Gate - Race #3
Picks Notes
#6 She's So Special Tactical type figures for a really great pressing run from the wide draw, and that last one was quite an all-weather surface debut.
#4 Dynasty of Her Own Won her only start over the footing, and she didn't run poorly in a couple of Sunland stakes in recent trips to post. Not out of it.
#2 Reiwa Another with some positional pace, she can might settle just a bit nearer the back part of midfield before making her move.
Race Summary She's So Special gets the call in a race where she seems best, but the race becomes pretty wide-open after her. I'll single here and not worry too much about the underneath spots.

Golden Gate - Race #5
Picks Notes
#5 Cartoonist Has usually shown pace, but he ran on well from behind the splits last time out, and a similar trip might work in his favor today in spot with multiple serious pace players.
#6 Sunrise Journey Has enough pace to get in the mix out of the gate, and his ability to settle just off the speed and finish makes him pretty tough.
#3 Sigur Ros Speed can really dazzle up top, but that's not going to be a very hospitable place to be, and he may be more likely to hang around for an underneath piece than to run them off their feet.
Race Summary Cartoonist showed some nice ability from off the pace last time out, and something close to that race might do the trick here.

Golden Gate - Race #8
Picks Notes
#5 Liberal Might be able to sit off the splits and try to finish late with these, but he'll have to bounce back after fading late last time out.
#2 I Declare War Pace can be tough even if he has a little bit of company in the early stages, and he'll step up to try this level while running first off the claim.
#3 Wesphire Thought he was going to get a bit better pace to chase last time out when offering only a mild rally, and he could be along too late once again here.
Race Summary Liberal looks interesting if he can sit just off the speed and try to get back to something like his two-back effort.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #2
Picks Notes
#11 Amaluna Was claimed on the drop last time by De La Cerda and has a clear class advantage in this; the 9-year-old mare keeps on trying, and while she has probably lost a step, she's probably still good enough to win this.
#1 Valley Date Was 2nd under apprentice Martinez, who returns aboard; has the speed to be a factor from the start and will likely be a good price.
#3 Vicky Apple Improved position in her last two and was claimed by Joseph, Jr., who is still hitting 34 percent in 1st after claim.
Race Summary Amaluna won a sprint three races back and is now at a bargain-basement price; should be able to run down this group.

Gulfstream Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#2 Tizahra Was a decent closer in her last two and is getting ever so close to breaking her maiden; gets a good pace set-up here and is the one to hold off.
#1 Pardon My Heart Has been closed in her last three and gets Saez, who can't seem to miss lately; in the mix throughout.
#6 Ocean Fire Was on the board in her last four and was a decent 3rd in her initial GP attempt; figures well in this one.
Race Summary Tizahra is improving and has enough of a late kick to prevail in this good maiden event.

Gulfstream Park - Race #9
Picks Notes
#6 Believe In Closed with a rush for 2nd last time out and she does well well when she has her mind of running; could be flying at these late in the game.
#4 Viva Forever Was 2nd over this strip and then finished the same way in a trip to Tampa; can get a good run and might be able to dig in when it counts.
#3 Caroline Lois Has speed, can press from the outset and gets Saez up; can get a piece of it.
Race Summary Believe In was 2nd in two of her last three and was vanned off after being rank and pulled up two back; goes over to the main track, where Walder is 26 percent in turf-to-dirt attempts.

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#7 KEY BISCAYNE (ML=8/1)
#9 LONGPANTS REQUIRED (ML=20/1)
#1 JUSTLEAVEITALONE (ML=20/1)

KEY BISCAYNE - The rider and trainer combination have a beneficial return on investment when they partner up. That recent bullet 59.8 work shows that this filly is ready for a top performance today. LONGPANTS REQUIRED - I expect this beautiful animal to stun some railbirds this time out. JUSTLEAVEITALONE - This animal is in the top spot in earnings per race. She looks nice in today's race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 URBAN FAIRYTALE (ML=4/1), #3 SHARETHEGOODTIMES (ML=9/2), #8 L'INDISCRET (ML=6/1),

URBAN FAIRYTALE - I normally try to beat this kind of chalk. Extended vacation and no drop in level of competition. SHARETHEGOODTIMES - Doesn't look to be worth 9/2 in today's event. Pass on her this time. L'INDISCRET - If she goes off anywhere close to the morning line odds of 6/1, I'll have to pass.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Put your money on #7 KEY BISCAYNE on the nose if you can get odds of 7/2 or more

PURCHASE
Always check program numbers.
Odds shown are morning line odds.

Race 8 - Maiden - 350y on the Dirt. Purse: $14500 Class Rating: 72

QUARTER HORSE 350Y, FOR MAIDENS, THREE, FOUR, AND FIVE YEARS OLD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 124 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 2 WILLIE BIG BUX 5/2

# 10 RYANS CARTEL 20/1

# 8 FEATURES FINEST KIND 6/1

WILLIE BIG BUX looks to be the bet in here. Johnson has him trained solidly to break promptly out of the starting gate. Could provide positive returns based on very strong recent speed figures with an average of 73. This gelding has been consistently running well in his latest outings. RYANS CARTEL - Will probably compete admirably in the early pace clash which bodes well with this group of horses. Has to be given a shot as he drops to compete against this less demanding field of horses.

#6 HEFFINGTON (ML=3/1)

HEFFINGTON - She finished second February 20th, but was well clear of the show horse. This mare's last speed rating is lofty enough to triumph here, I'll wager on her right back this time around. 'Blinkers On' is a time-honored positive angle in handicapping the races.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 FOOLISH PRINCESS (ML=7/2), #11 WITHYOURPERMISSION (ML=9/2), #4 JUST WHAT I NEEDED (ML=6/1),

FOOLISH PRINCESS - A runner should have more early speed at 1 1/16 miles to get me riled up about her winning probability at 6 furlongs. I don't like the plain fact that wraps were new equipment on March 15th. WITHYOURPERMISSION - This filly hasn't had any in the money results in sprint races in the last two months. JUST WHAT I NEEDED - Doesn't seem to be worth 6/1 this time around. Pass on her this time.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Putting our cash on #6 HEFFINGTON to win. Have to have odds of at least 1/1 or better though

Race 3 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $19000 Class Rating: 90

FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. WEIGHT, 124 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE OCTOBER 29 ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $12,500

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 6 RICKEY B 5/2

# 3 SHORT OF EZ 8/5

# 2 ROYAL SEEKER 30/1

RICKEY B looks to be a respectable contender. Has been racing solidly in races of this distance, going 5 out of 13 under similar conditions. Looks decent versus this field and ought to be one of the front-runners. Put up a reliable speed figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this affair. SHORT OF EZ - His 88 average has this gelding with among the top speed figures in here. As of late Mulhall has provided players with a very good winning percentage with horses running in dirt sprint races.
