Just one game left in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as the Colorado Avalanche travel to California to take on the San Jose Sharks. The winner of this exciting Game 7 matchup will advance to the Western Conference finals.

Featured Games

San Jose Sharks (+100) vs. Colorado Avalanche (-120)

The Colorado Avalanche forced a Game 7 with an exciting 4-3 victory in overtime in Game 6. San Jose never led in this contest. After a scoreless first period, the Avalanche jumped on top on a goal by Tyson Jost at 4:05 of the second frame. The Sharks would tie the score before J.T. Compher scored the first of his two goals. Brent Burns tied the score with just 10 seconds left in the second, but Colorado would retake the lead at the four-minute mark of the third. Colorado looked like they were going to force the Game 7 until Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored his third goal of playoffs with 2:28 left in the contest. However, Gabriel Landeskog would send the crowd home happy with a goal 2:32 into overtime.

Goaltending Matchup:

Philipp Grubauer did not see much action in Game 6, stopping 19 of 22 shots he faced. He has allowed 15 total goals through the first six games of this series but has only allowed five total over the last three. In 11 playoff games this season, Grubauer has a 2.23 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage.

Martin Jones did not see much action in Game 6 either, facing just 26 shots, but he let four of them go by. He has allowed 14 goals through the first six games, with Game 6 being the most goals he has allowed in a single game in this series. In 13 games playoff games this season, Jones has a 2.78 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

Stat Pack:

Avalanche:
Goals For: 3.00
Goals Against: 2.55
Power-Play: 15.6%
Penalty Killing: 82.0%

Sharks:
Goals For: 3.09
Goals Against: 3.15
Power-Play: 19.6%
Penalty Killing: 79.6%

Trends to Know

Colorado Avalanche are:

7-3 in their last 10 games.
37-78 in their last 115 games on the road.
3-12 in their last 15 conference semifinals games.

San Jose Sharks are:

4-1 in their last five games at home.
6-3 in their last nine games.
5-3 in their last eight games against teams with a losing record.

Prediction

San Jose has already faced one Game 7 this playoff season defeating the Vegas Golden Knights to advance. The home team won two of the three Game 7s in the first round, and this is why home-ice advantage is so important in the playoffs. You want the home crowd behind you and that will be the edge for San Jose in this game.

The total is set at 5.5 and we are going over in this game. Most often these are tight checking games, but these are two free-wheeling teams who will look to let their skill players be the difference. They will be the difference, but that gives the Sharks the edge, who we will believe will win, 5-4.
