There are two games scheduled in the Stanley Cup playoffs on Sunday, as both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vegas Golden Knights have an opportunity to advance as they lead their series, 3-2.

Featured Games

Boston Bruins (+100) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (-120)

The Toronto Maple Leafs have never trailed in their series with the Boston Bruins, and that continues into Game 6, as Toronto pulled out 2-1 a huge victory over the Boston Bruins, giving them the opportunity to advance with a victory at home on Sunday. The Maple Leafs jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Kasperi Kapanen helped set up Auston Matthews fourth goal of the series before scoring his first game of the playoffs. Frederik Andersen kept Boston off the scoreboard for 59 minutes, before the Bruins would finally get on the board, but they would get no closer.

Goaltending Matchup:

Tuukka Rask played a good game in net for Boston, allowing only two goals on 27 shots. He has only given up 13 goals in the series but will need to pull out the game of his life to keep his team alive. Rask finished the regular season 27-13-4 with a 2.48 goals-against average.

Frederik Andersen was absolutely brilliant on Friday night, stopping 28 of 29 shots he faced. That was a dramatic rebound after giving up five goals in the 6-4 loss at home on April 17. Andersen has also given up 13 goals in the series. He finished the regular season 36-16-5 with a 2.77 goals-against average.

Trends to Watch:

The Boston Bruins are…

5-2 in their last seven games on the road.
22-10 and their last 32 games.
6-13 in their last 19 games on a Sunday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are…

2-5 in their last seven games at home.
2-5 in their last seven games overall.
3-7 in their last 10 conference quarterfinals games.

Stat Pack:

Bruins:
Goals For: 3.13
Goals Against: 2.59
Power-Play: 25.9%
Penalty Killing: 79.9%

Maple Leafs:
Goals For: 3.49
Goals Against: 3.04
Power-Play: 21.8%
Penalty Killing: 79.9%

Prediction

If this series continues as it has then Boston will win this game. The Bruins have won the even games in the series, including Game 4 in Toronto when they scored five goals-against Andersen. The Maple Leafs have not had the killer instinct yet to put the Bruins away, but they have to be realistic about the fact that their chances of winning a Game 7 in Boston are not good. Look for the Toronto Maple Leafs to put this series away with a victory on Sunday at home.

The total is set at 5.5 in this contest, and we have seen the total go under in all one of these games. That was Game 4 when Boston one, 6-4. Goaltending is going to be the story of this game, so expect the total to be under as Toronto wins, 3-2.

San Jose Sharks (+155) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (-172)

Faced with elimination, the San Jose Sharks came a big, dominating the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday 5-2. San Jose jumped out to a 2-0 lead 11 minutes into the first period before Vegas would get a power-play goal with 30 seconds left in the frame. The teams would exchange goals to make it 3-2, but the Sharks would put it away with two goals in the last five minutes of the contest. Martin Jones had his best game of the series, stopping 30 of 32 shots.

Goaltending Matchup:

Martin Jones starts for San Jose. After back to back mediocre appearances, the goaltender came a big, stopping 30 shots. He has now given up 15 goals through the first five games the series. Jones finished the regular season 36-19-4 with a 2.94 goals-against average.

Marc-Andre Fleury gave up four goals on 28 shots for Vegas in Game 5. He had won three straight games in this series and has allowed 14 total goals in the five games. Fleury finished the regular season 35-21-3 with a 2.51 goals-against average.

Trends to Watch:

The San Jose Sharks are…

6-2 in their last eight games on a Sunday.
5-2 in their last seven games on the road when facing a team with a winning record at home.
5-12 in their last 17 games.

The Vegas Golden Knights are…

9-3 in their last 12 games at home.
4-9 in their last 13 games.
7-2 in their last nine conference quarterfinals games

Stat Pack:

Sharks:
Goals For: 3.52
Goals Against: 3.15
Power-Play: 23.6%
Penalty Killing: 80.8%

Golden Knights:
Goals For: 3.00
Goals Against: 2.78
Power-Play: 16.8%
Penalty Killing: 80.9%

Prediction

The San Jose Sharks had absolutely no answers for the Golden Knights in Vegas. They gave up 11 total goals while scoring just three of their own. Vegas has been very tough at home and we expect them to knock San Jose out of the playoffs with a decisive victory in Game 6.

The total was originally set at 6.5 but has dropped 6.0. These two teams have gone over in all but one game in the series, that was Game 4 in Vegas. These two teams have gone over in five of the last seven meetings in Vegas and have gone over in six of the last seven meetings overall. We take the Vegas Golden Knights to win, 5-2.
