There is a reason the Tampa Bay has the best record in the NHL. They lead the league in goals per game, are first on the power play and are sixth in penalty killing. They are eight goals allowed. As good as Tampa Bay has played this season, they simply cannot match how good the Lightning are, and that shows in the fact that Tampa Bay has won five of the last six meetings between these two teams and eight of the last 10 at home. No sense turning against the Lightning now.

After catching a couple of breaks the previous two days, we dropped our NHL total on Wednesday after two goals in the final four minutes, with the losing goal scored with 1:06 remaining. A decent seven-game schedule for Thursday, with the big one Toronto at Tampa Bay, along with a decent matchup between Winnipeg and Nashville.
New Jersey at Islanders: The Islanders opened -155 and are now -160 after getting 80% of the early wagers in the game. The Devils are dismal on the road, while the Islanders are 12-10 at home. The Devils have been playing better since Blackwood took over the starting goaltending job.
St. Louis at Boston: The Bruins opened -170 and the line is down to -150 even with Boston getting more than 60% of the early wagers. Boston is 12-8 after a loss, although St. Louis is 14-10 and both teams are solid under teams after a setback. St. Louis is 9-10 on the road, while Boston is 16-7 at home. The total has moved to 5.5-under (-125) and I’ll grab the under in this one.
Chicago at Rangers: An Original 6 battle here between two struggling teams sees the Rangers -130 with the betting pretty well split. The total has held at 6.5 with 70% of the wagers on the over. Chicago is a decent over team on the road, but New York is 7-11 in totals after a win and a game under .500 at home.
Toronto at Tampa Bay: The game off the day saw Tampa open -145 and they’re still there with a little more than 70% of the wagers on the home team. The Leafs are just 9-7 after a loss, but are 15-6 on the road, which isn’t quite as good as Tampa’s 19-4 home mark. The Lightning are 25-10 after a victory. The total has climbed to 6.5-over (-140).
Winnipeg at Nashville: Decent game here, where the Preds have moved from -150 to -160 with nearly 60% of the early wagers and the total has moved to 6-over (-125) with more than 75% of the wagers on the over. Nashville is 17-10 after a win and 16-7 at home, while the Jets are 12-8 away from home.
Anaheim at Minnesota: The Wild opened -180 and are now -170 over the floundering Ducks. The total has moved from 5.5 to 5.5-under (-130) with 58% of the wagers on the under. The Ducks are 10-16-1 in totals after a loss and 6-14-2 on the road, while the Wild are 10-11-1 after a win and 10-12-1 at home, so will take the under in this one, as well.
Los Angeles at Dallas: The Stars opened -175 and are now -185 after getting 80% of the early wagers, while the total has moved from 5.5 to 5.5-under (-140) with decent two-way action on the total. The Stars are 8-14-1 in totals after a loss, while the Kings are just 5-16-1 on the road, so will make it another under play in this one.
