DALLAS @ TAMPA BAY | 09/09 | 8:20 PM EDT
DALLAS +7.5
ANALYSIS: The Buccaneers ride an eight-game winning streak and they’ve got almost everyone back from their Super Bowl-winning team. The Cowboys have lots of variables that make them exciting for this opening spot, beginning with Dak Prescott and the offensive line being healthy. There also is speed from the receivers and a trimmer, seemingly more focused Ezekiel Elliott. But I believe the defense will be vastly improved after allowing a franchise record for most points scored in 2020. Take the points with the Cowboys.

Week 1 for NCAAF wasn't terrible but not great either. Let's see how we fare in NFL week 1. I have had plenty of time to cap scenarios and injuries so this is what i like this week.

Thursday:

COWBOYS +8 (-110) QUADRUPLE HAMMER POW.

This is my POW here as Dallas sets out back with Dak and a refurbished Defense. I really love Parsons at LB and has made this Defense instantly stronger and not to mention he's a leader. He'll no doubt be new Defensive coordinator Dan Quinns new go to guy. Defensive line is healthy and Vander Esche had a great pre-season.

Don't let the 0-4 pre-season scare you. This game will basically be Dallas's SuperBowl. They are going to give this game everything they have and i feel they keep this close if not an outright victory. There really shouldn't be too much that Tampa Bay can do to slow down this Offense that is loaded with weapons. Dak will play just as he left off prior to his injury. Look for Dallas to have a hell of a game and set the tempo right for their much anticipated season.

STEELERS +6.5 (-110) TRIPLE HAMMER I know the Bills are projected to make the SB this year and had a hell of a pre-season but this is simply too many points to give the Steelers.

DENVER -2.5 (-110) TRIPLE HAMMER
look for the Giants to play better this year but they're unfortunately going up against one of the best defenses in the league while simultaneously them have a projected terrible Defense. Look for them to struggle all day trying to find the endzone.

That's all for NFL. Look for NCAAF week 2 plays within the next few days.

WASHINGTON @ ATLANTA | 09/09 | 7:20 PM EDT
ATLANTA -1.5
ANALYSIS: Erick Fedde is 0-3 with an 11.12 ERA against the Braves this season, allowing 19 hits and six walks in just 11.1 innings. Atlanta's Huascar Ynoa has given up zero earned runs in 12 innings versus the Nats this year. This is a great bounceback spot for the Braves, who are 13-5 against Washington this season. I'm playing Atlanta -1.5 runs at -115.

COLORADO @ PHILADELPHIA | 09/09 | 7:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -180
ANALYSIS: The Rockies just lost four in a row at home -- which is a huge deal, given that they were 45-23 at home before that -- and then had to fly across a good portion of the country to Philly. Now they play a contender on the road, where they are 18-50 this season. They hit .211/.286/.334 away from home. The Phillies start Ranger Suarez on the hill. He sports a 1.38 ERA on the season and his transition to the rotation has been beautiful. He has a 1.71 ERA in his seven starts and is stretched out enough to hit triple digits on his pitch count. Further, coming off facing Brewers pitchers, the Phillies offense will love these matchups.

TORONTO @ N.Y. YANKEES | 09/09 | 7:05 PM EDT
TORONTO +105
ANALYSIS: Something about the Yankees seems broken (again). Since that 13-game winning streak, they've gone 2-9 while hitting .206/.277/.312 as a team. They are averaging just 3.3 runs per game while striking out 8.7 times per game. Double plays continue to plague them, with 15 in these 11 games. The Jays start Jose Berrios, who strikes out more than 1/4 of the batters he faces and gets more grounders than flies. Yankees starter Nestor Cortes has been great, but the Blue Jays offense is relentless. They've hit .291/.379/.591 with 18 homers in this seven-game winning streak, which includes several major, late comebacks. This might happen late, but it'll happen.

FEATURED PICK

DALLAS @ TAMPA BAY | 09/09 | 8:20 PM EDT
TAMPA BAY -8
ANALYSIS: I initially thought this line was where it should be based on my power ratings but was giving the edge to the Bucs with defending champs going 14-6 ATS in their last 20 Week 1 games. I had hoped good Dak Prescott news would move the line down to Bucs -7 and give us an even bigger edge, but it's instead ticked the other way after Zack Martin was ruled out due to a positive COVID-19 test. Consider that a preview of the unpredictable nature of the 2021 NFL season, where sudden, unexpected player absences will wreak havoc on line movement expectations. I'm still laying it with the Bucs and think they win by 10-plus here

DALLAS @ TAMPA BAY | 09/09 | 8:20 PM EDT
UNDER 51.5
ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay’s scoring binge late in its Super Bowl run and the return of QB Dak Prescott for Dallas have generated a total of more than a half-hundred. This figure is 3.5 points higher than any other Cowboys-Bucs game. Prescott, though, has not played in 11 months and will suffer from the absence of All-Pro guard Zack Martin (COVID-19). Once the Bucs got rolling in Week 6 last season, they yielded just 20.6 ppg the rest of the way. The Cowboys have gone Under in all but one of their last five openers. New coordinator Dan Quinn has the chops to repair a dreadful defense.

WASHINGTON @ ATLANTA | 09/09 | 7:20 PM EDT
ATLANTA -1.5
ANALYSIS: Not risking the Braves at -220 as that is the sort of thing that got me into a funk. So, runline at -115 it is. Not clear which Washington relievers will be available after the team went with a bullpen game yesterday, and it's not like Erick Fedde (6-9, 5.27) likely will last long as the starter here. He has been hammered the past two times out and has an 11.12 ERA in three starts against the Braves this year. They counter with Huascar Ynoa, who has faced the Nationals twice this season and has yet to allow an earned run.

TORONTO @ N.Y. YANKEES | 09/09 | 7:05 PM EDT
TORONTO +105
ANALYSIS: The Blue Jays have now won 7 straight games while the Yankees have lost 9 of their last 11 games. These teams are heading in opposite directions and I am not sure why the Blue Jays continue to be underdogs. The Yankees only 3 runs were plated by Brett Gardner last night, and the Blue Jays hit lefties well. They face Nestor Cortes today who has yet to face the Blue Jays this season. Jose Berrios should have success against the righties of the Yankees lineup. Take the Blue Jays to make it 8 straight.

N.Y. METS @ MIAMI | 09/09 | 6:40 PM EDT
MIAMI +162
ANALYSIS: Marcus Stroman has been good this season but the Mets give him no run support and always seem to lose when he’s on the mound, given he is 9-12 with a 2.93 ERA. Jesus Luzardo seemed to figure something out a couple starts ago, and the Mets really struggle against lefties. The Marlins have played well at home all season and since the trade deadline. The Mets are 29-43 on the road this season and 3-6 in Miami. Take the value in the Marlins at home.
