Stanford Steve: Since losing to Texas in the season opener, Louisiana Tech has won eight straight, including a 52-17 win over North Texas last weekend. There hasn't been a team I have been more wrong about this year than the guys from Ruston. With that being said, I just like the situation for the Herd here, as they have won four straight and, more importantly, control their destiny to play in the Conference USA title game, so there is plenty to play for. The addition of being at home makes me think they will cover the short number Friday night.

Louisiana Tech comes into this huge Conference USA matchup with a well-balanced offensive attack. QB J'Mar Smith does a great job of playing efficiently within the passing game and avoiding the critical mistake. Marshall is a very good defensive team that should be able to slow down the Bulldogs a bit. However, LaTech's defense, especially the secondary, is one of the best in the FBS. It also can create pressure with its front seven. It'll be all about defense in this game.

The Aztecs’ surprising loss to Nevada last Saturday has reduced this line, resulting in value for the home side. Fresno is a scoring machine but has yet to confront a defense like San Diego State’s, the stingiest in the Mountain West for points allowed (14.4). Though against-the-spread trends favor Fresno State (4-5), the Aztecs (7-2) own a superior record and were ranked a week ago. Props to Fresno for a fine rebuilding season, but the Bulldogs have started 41 different players, tied for seventh most in FBS, and seven true freshmen. Take San Diego State.
