NCAA-F | Memphis vs Temple
Play on: UNDER 50½ -110

1* Free Play on Memphis/Temple under50½ -110

Two of the top teams in the American Athletic Conference are set to face off this weekend as the #23 Memphis Tigers (5-0) put their undefeated record on the line against the Temple Owls (4-1). The over/under is set at 50.5 points.

Memphis has run the table through five games of the season, taking down the likes of Ole Miss and Navy along the way. The Tigers have given up more than 24 points just once this year.

On average, Memphis is scoring 40 points per game on 461 yards of offense while allowing just 19 points per game on 325 yards. Through the air, the Tigers are allowing an average of just 146 passing yards per game.

Although Temple was able to take down #21 Maryland and Georgia Tech, the Owls fell to Buffalo 38-22 in the team’s lone loss of the season. Temple hasn’t allowed more than 22 points in any game this season.

On average, the Owls are scoring 30 points per game on 444 yards of offense while allowing 17 points per game on 292 yards.

Offensively, Temple features a strong run game led by Re’Mahn Davis, who has 503 yards and four touchdowns through five games.

Play on: Temple +4½ -105 at YouWager

What tips the scale and puts me on Temple is the Owls' home field, their balanced attack that can keep the Tigers' high-powered attack off the field and their strong defense, which is the best Memphis has seen all season. Temple is 4-1 with its lone loss coming on the road to Buffalo. It was the only time the Owls have given up more than 17 points this season. The Owls rank 10th in pass defense and are in the top-20 in fewest yards and points. Memphis ranks 93rd in run defense. The Owls have won their last seven home games, covering six of them. Temple plays on grass, which is an off-surface for Memphis. This will be the Tigers' first game on grass this season. They are 7-18-1 ATS the past 26 times when playing on grass. The Tigers may not play as fast on grass as they do on turf. Temple has a wild-card going, too, in Isaiah Wright. He's the reigning American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and a dangerous kickoff returner.

NCAA-F | Iowa State vs West Virginia
Play on: Iowa State -10 -110 at Pinnacle

Jack’s Free Pick Saturday: Iowa State -10

The Iowa State Cyclones should be 5-0. But since they are not, I believe they remain undervalued. They blew late 4th quarter leads to both Iowa and Baylor and lost those games by a combined 3 points. If they hold both of those leads, they are 5-0 and getting a lot more national attention, and thus more respect from the betting public.

I was on Iowa State last week for many of the same reasons. They delivered in one of the most impressive performances of the entire college football season. They beat TCU 49-24 as 3-point home favorites. That’s a TCU team that has an elite defense year in and year out, and scoring 49 points against a Gary Patterson-coached defense is no small feat.

The Cyclones have posted elite numbers this year. They are averaging 37.6 points, 487 yards per game and 7.1 yards per play. They are only giving up 22.2 points, 348 yards per game and 4.7 yards per play. They are outscoring their opponents by 15.6 points per game, and outgaining them by 139 yards per game and 2.4 yards per play. That’s one of the best yards per play differentials in the entire country, and it’s one of the most important stats in handicapping any football team.

West Virginia is in a rebuilding year under first-year head coach Neal Brown. They only returned nine starters this year and lost a couple starters prior to the season. They have done a good job of getting to 3-2, winning close games over James Madison (20-13) and Kansas (29-24), as well as their most impressive win over NC State (44-27).

However, when the Mountaineers have stepped up in class against teams of Iowa State’s caliber, they have been blown out. They lost at Missouri (7-38) and at home to Texas (31-42) last week. I think it will be tough for them to get back up off the mat after that loss to Texas, a Longhorns team that was clearly looking ahead to the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma. Iowa State won’t be overlooking WVU, not with two losses already this season.

West Virginia didn’t come out of that game against Texas unscathed, either. They lost two of their top three receivers in Sean Ryan and Sam James to injury. Ryan had five receptions for 70 yards while James had six receptions for 66 yards and a score against Texas before exiting. James leads the team with 32 receptions for 329 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Ryan has 15 receptions for 168 yards on the year. Losing two of their biggest playmakers will make it very difficult for the Mountaineers to move the football against one of the best defenses in the Big 12 in Iowa State. They won’t have the firepower to keep up on the scoreboard.

We saw last year Iowa State shutting down a much more potent WVU offense in a 30-14 home victory. That game was an even bigger blowout than the final scored showed. The Cyclones had 498 yards of total offense in the win, and they held Will Grier and company to just 152 yards and nine first downs. They outgained the Mountaineers by 346 yards and obviously should have won by even more than they did. This 2019 version of WVU is nowhere near as good as that one, while the Cyclones are even stronger than they were last year with 16 returning starters.

Iowa State is 10-1 ATS after covering the spread in three of its last four games over the last three seasons. Matt Campbell is 11-1 ATS in October games as the coach of the Cyclones, and they are hitting their stride this month once again. Iowa State is 20-8-1 ATS in its last 29 conference games. The Mountaineers are 7-23-2 ATS in their last 32 home games vs. a team with a winning record. Bet Iowa State Saturday.

NCAA-F | UAB vs UTSA
Play on: UAB -12 -108 at Pinnacle

Saturday CFB Free play. My selection is on UAB minus the points over UTSA at 6 pm et on Saturday.

UAB didn’t have to be great to earn a win last week as it hosted one of the nation’s weakest teams in Rice. The Blazers essentially sleepwalked through the first quarter of that game before turning on the jets and brushing aside the Owls by a 35-20 score. Now the Blazers know they’ll need to be sharper as they hit the road to face 2-3 Texas-San Antonio on Saturday. The Roadrunners two previous wins have come against FCS squad Incarnate Word and most recently against 1-4 UTEP last week. The win against UTEP came on the strength of a 189-yard rushing day from RB Sincere McCormick but don’t count on a repeat performance here as he had gained just around 250 yards through the first four games. There’s no real look-ahead at play for UAB here as it will host lowly Old Dominion next week. A win here would give the Blazers a nice opportunity to become Bowl eligible well before the end of October. Note that UAB rolled past UTSA by a 52-3 score in last year’s meeting. Take UAB (10*).

154 Mississippi at Missouri

While the Rebels have played a 9 point tougher FBS schedule, we find value on the host. From a game score perspective Missouri is 14 points better than Ole Miss. The Tigers have a 2.32 yards per play advantage as opposed to the 0.36 advatage for the visitor. The Missouri defense has been very good against the pass, and we have major concerns about this Mississippi passing game.

NCAA-F | Navy vs Tulsa
Play on: Tulsa +1 -109 at Pinnacle

Last week Navy was in a war with Air Force and after a building a DD lead, and had to eventually come from behind with a late score to win it 34-25, and will now be in a huge emotional let down spot vs a Tulsa team that is up trending. Meanwhile, HC Montgomery had his team up 30-9 last week on the road before losing in OT to a high powered SMU side. Instead of being downtrodden Im expecting this to buoy the confidence of the Canes and for them to come out here and finish the job here this week vs a viable but vulnerable opponent.

Midshipmen are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 road games.Midshipmen are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.Midshipmen are 1-6-2 ATS in their last 9 games in October.

Golden Hurricane are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.Golden Hurricane are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.Golden Hurricane are 14-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.Golden Hurricane are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game.

10* FREE NCAAF PICK (LSU -13.5)

I got no problem laying the double-digit spread with LSU at home this Saturday. Not many times you see a team ranked No. 7 in the country as a double-digit dog. While the public might not be all over the Gators here, they also aren't jumping on the Tigers.

I not only think LSU is the better team, but this is a brutal spot for the Gators off that physical game against Auburn. I know they beat Auburn pretty handedly, but I'm not so sure Auburn is as good as people thought they were.

I know the Gators defense is good, but they haven't seen anything close to the talent that LSU has on the offensive side of the ball. Florida is also a very limited offensive team and I don't see them keeping pace. The atmosphere for LSU home games at night is something special and I think the Gators will struggle to keep their composure.

Tigers are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 off a home win by 17 or more and 7-0 ATS at home in October under head coach Ed Orgeron. Also, home favorites of 10.5 to 21 that have outgained each of their last two opponents by 125+ yards and have an experienced QB are 44-17 (72%) ATS over the last 5 seasons. Give me LSU -13.5!

NHL | Flyers vs Canucks
Play on: Canucks -110 at BetOnline

1* Free NHL Pick on Vancouver Canucks -110

Great value here with the Canucks at basically a pick'em at home against the Flyers. Vancouver opened the season with back-to-back road losses, but got back on track with a 8-2 win over Los Angeles in their home opener.

I look for the Canucks to bring that same energy on their home ice Saturday night. As for the Flyers, I think they could be running on empty in this one. Philadelphia open the season overseas in Prague, then returned to the U.S. to play their home opener and they won that 4-0 in a very spirited effort. Now they are back on the road for a 3-game trip that starts in Canada.

Just think it will be really hard for the Flyers to match the intensity of Vancouver in this one. I like the Canucks to win this one rather convincingly. Take Vancouver!

Bulls (+) over Cougars- Do you really think the Cougars hive a hoot about this trip and matchup in Tampa against South Florida. Bulls coach Charlie Strong once again is driving a program into the ground but BYU has no incentive here and the line reflects that. But, today, Chip's off of his SEC Game of Year win with Florida 24-13 and has a 'Guaranteed' Full-Slate Fab-5 today and for Sunday's NFL Game of the Year winner. After a disappointing loss at Toledo when they lost starting quarterback Zach Wilson to a thumb injury the Cougars will now start Jaren Hall their first black quarterback in school history. Minnesota comes into this game 5-0 and needing a big convincing win over Nebraska to get into the top 25 CFB rankings that they have been so far shut out of. Nebraska has under achieved all season and are off a blowout loss to Ohio State here. This line has been inflated and public bettors are flocking to the road team here as they perceive it as value. Look for Minnesota to run this game up and cover easily for us.

Betting On Virtual Motorsports Betting On Virtual Motorsports Virtual motorsport races are drawing a lot of attention from sportsbooks and their players. For those in the sports betting world, the cancellation of major sports has left us with few wagering options. But while fans of basketball, baseball, or hockey are patiently waiting to see their favorite players return to action, motor racing bettors don't have to wait at all. Competitive motor racing barely missed a beat when COVID-19 shut down sports worldwide, thanks to the realism of virtual racing simulators. These programs are used regularly by drivers to keep their skills sharp without the high cost of real track practice. Therefore, many of the top racers in the world entered eSports tournaments just days after real-world events were canceled. The first of these events were held in March and became so popular that sportsbooks began to take notice and offer odds. This is an excellent opportunity for any bookmaker to use the momentum of this sport to fill the gaps left in the absence of most leagues. The success of these events just goes to show how far the realism of simulation racing has come in the eSports era. With professionals now involved, along with the sanctioning bodies of F1, NASCAR & IndyCar, sim racing has been put into the spotlight. Make no mistake; the age of competitive virtual motorsports is upon us. With that in mind, let's explore the big three leagues going on right now that you can bet on. eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series The NASCAR season was put on hiatus after just four races, but a new form of the sport is experiencing an explosion in popularity. The NASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational was created to pick up where the Cup Series left off and use the iRacing platform to finish the season. Taking place each Sunday, this series pits NASCAR drivers and dignitaries against one another on a virtual track. Names such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, and Kyle Bush are a big reason for the early success. The iRacing platform makes the action feel as genuine as possible and is used for training on off days. Denny Hamlin suggested that around half of the people who work for or with NASCAR already have home setups, including wheels and pedals in their homes. This allowed for a quick transition for many races from the real to the digital world. The success of this new form of competition has been undeniable. The races run so far have been watched by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to rave reviews. The odds are available now for upcoming races at Dover and Martindale speedways. William Byron is 3/1 favorite to win both after taking the checkered flag in the last two races and Top-8 finishes in the other two. Timmy Hill is also a guy to keep an eye on. Hill has finished in the Top-3 in all but one race this year and is 15/2 heading into Dover. INDYCAR iRacing Challenge iRacing has also teamed up with INDYCAR to host a virtual racing series while real races are on hold. The competitors are a mix of NTT INDYCAR Series drivers, along with some special invitees such as F1 racer Lando Norris. Norris was a special guest driver for Arrow McLaren for last week's race at the Circuit of the Americas. The 20-year-old dominated the field in fact as he beat out the other 33 drivers on the virtual road course in Texas. Norris had more than 20,000 viewers watching his Twitch stream alone. The races last around 70 minutes and are broadcasted live on NBCSN with live commentary just like a day at the track would have. There is even a pre-race show featuring a national anthem presentation and more. The list of drivers includes seven Indianapolis 500 winners and features names like Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Simon Pagenaud. F1 eSports Virtual Grand Prix Series With the real-world Formula 1 series postponed, the F1 eSports Virtual GP series has stepped into the spotlight. Professional drivers, retired legends, full-time gamers, and celebrities go head to head in events that mirror the real-life series. This gives bettors a chance to continue watching and wagering on competitive racing on weekends. The major difference with the F1 Virtual Series is the platform that is utilized. Formula One has its own branded title developed by Codemasters. While not as realistic as the iRacing software, it is still a popular alternative for fans to watch. It must also be mentioned that this series is not a part of the competitive eSports series that is also currently active. This series is more of an exhibition event and features racers of varying driving and gaming talent. Races are 28 laps or less and follow qualifying to determine the starting positions for each race. The first race saw participants ranging from current F1 drivers Nicholas Latifi and Lando Norris, reserve talent Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez, and legend Nico Hülkenburg. Formula 2 racers, Academy drivers, and pros from other series filled out the starting grid. Odds for these events have been popular betting options over the last few weeks. Heading into the next event, Team Renault is favorites to win a 4/1 with McLaren (5/1) and Mercedes (6/1), taking the next two spots on the odds board. The latter is an interesting play at those odds considering Guiterrez and Vandoorne are both F1 test drivers and gamers, making Mercedes a strong contender. These are just three of the major series going on right now, but IMSA, Porche, and the WRC all have eSports events running on a weekly basis. These series will continue to run and provide betting options even when real-world racing returns to action. This is the perfect time for the sports betting industry to embrace not only eSports but the competitive virtual racing scene. PayPerHead® agents can stand to benefit massively from this emerging sport. Especially during these trying times, having a weekly event for fans to bet on is a powerful thing. Any time you can get your clients interested in new events is time well spent. If your pay per head service provider does not include eSports on their list of odds, then it might be time to find a better option.
