They still have fewer wins than the Reds, but they will be a favorite in Cincinnati on Friday. Patrick Corbin will toe the slab for the visitors, and he's having a fine season. The southpaw is 1-2 with a 3.80 ERA in his last three starts against Cincinnati. The Reds hand the ball to Tyler Mahle, who has pitched better than his record would indicate. Though I won with the Yankees in their last game, today's all-southpaw matchup is far less favorable. Wednesday, the Yankees had Paxton on the mound against the Padres and Paxton has been dominant here at home. However, today's its Happ against the Red Sox and Happ's been terrible here. In six home starts, he's got a 5.93 ERA. Last time here, Happ lost against Baltimore, giving up two home runs in five innings. Sale, on the other hand, has a respectable 3.97 ERA in six road starts, to go along with a stingy 0.971 WHIP. While the wins still haven't been coming, Sale has been solid. He's off a quality start against Houston. With the Red Sox a dominant 40-15 (+22.9) the past 55 times that they were off two or more consecutive losses, consider backing Boston.

I'll take my chances here with Washington at basically even money at Cincinnati. Nationals will have Pat Corbin on the mound and he's coming off a complete game shutout in his last start. Corbin is now 5-2 with a 2.85 ERA and 1.032 WHIP in 11 starts. Reds will counter with Tyler Mahle, who I feel is getting a little too much love here. Mahle does have a 0.82 ERA and 1.091 WHIP at home, but that covers just 2 starts. He's 1-5 overall with a 4.15 ERA and 1.243 WHIP in 10 outings. Cincinnati is just 2-8 in those 10 starts and he's facing a Nationals team that is on fire at the plate. Washington is averaging 7.3 runs/game and hitting .321 as a team over their last 7 games. Give me the Nationals -107!

I really like the value here with Miami as a decently priced road dog at San Diego. The Marlins might be one of the worst teams, but they have been playing better here of late. Miami is a respectable 9-4 in their last 13 games after a 10-31 start to the season.
While that's definitely a factor into this pick, the real value here stems from Marlins' starter Caleb Smith. He's got a 3.05 ERA and 0.964 WHIP in 10 starts. He's faced the Padres twice in his career and is 2-0 with a ridiculous 0.73 ERA and 0.892 WHIP.
San Diego is a mere 4-17 in their last 21 home games vs a NL starter with a WHIP of 1.150 or better. Marlins are 6-2 in Smith's last 8 starts to open a series and 4-0 in his last 4 vs a team from the NL West. Take Miami!
