My comp play for Sunday is Georgetown plus the points in their noon eastern tip-off at St. John's.

Simply put, this is too many points to ask the Red Storm to cover considering that this year's first meeting between the traditional Big East rivals needed overtime to decide - Johnnies the 3 point win - and 2 of the last 3 series meetings overall have gone into overtime before a winner was determined. In fact, 5 of the last 6 series meetings between the teams have been decided by 6 points or fewer.

The Hoyas are just 1-4 straight up their last 5, but none of those 5 games played have been decided by more than 6 points, so it seems pretty safe to assume that win or lose, Patrick Ewing's team is going to fight you until the bitter end.

As for the host Red Storm, Chris Mullin's team was 12-0 straight up through their first dozen games, but now that conference action has kicked in full storm, the Red Storm have only mustered a 3-4 straight up mark their last 7 games.

Georgetown does average 83 points per game and 37 rebounds per contest, while St. John's nets just over 82 points per game, but averages 5 less rebounds per outing. The Hoyas also shoot it better from the charity stripe at 73% compared to 70% for the Johnnies.

Those numbers above bode well for the underdog getting the generous points from the linemakers.

This series has been an even 5-5 straight up split the last 10 times the teams have faced one another. I am grabbing the points and looking for a close one at the Garden in this Sunday matinee.

Play the Hoyas.

Today's Toronto-Dallas interconference clash from the Metroplex is going to hold Under the total.

Yes, the Raptors just played an Over on Friday night, but that game was played in Houston against the high-scoring Rockets. Tonight Toronto faces a Dallas team that has played Under the total in each of their last 5 games. The Mavericks are also on an overall 12-3 Under run their last 15 games played!

The Mave are just 20th in the league in scoring with an average of 109.4 points per game tallied. They are also 12th in scoring defense with 109.3 points per game allowed.

Toronto comes into this game having held Under the total in their previous 4, prior to their Friday Over in Houston, and although the first meeting between the teams way back in October did land Over the total, series numbers have been trending towards this one ending up on the lower side of things, as the Under is 7-3 the last 10 series meetings.

That includes 4 straight games played in Big "D" having held Under the total between the clubs.

The Raptors are 6th in the league in scoring with nearly 114 points per game scored, and they stand at 9th in the league in scoring defense with just under 109 points per game allowed.

I can see both teams getting to the 100-point plateau, and then things trailing off just in time to keep this game from seeing the Over column.

Play the Raptors and Mavericks to fall just Under on Sunday night.

My comp play release for Sunday is for Miami to finally get healthy at the expense of the New York Knicks.

Miami won for only the second time in their last six games, as they were able to hold off a bad Cleveland team, 100-94 at Cleveland on Friday night.

Even though the Heat is on the road for another game, the schedule is kind today, as they will play in New York against a Knicks team that has lost 16 of their 20 home games already this year!

Not only are the Knickerbockers 4-16 straight up at Madison Square Garden, but they have failed against the spread in 8 of their last 10 home games too, as thir current overall losing streak stands at 8 games in a row and counting.

The Heat did win and cover the first meeting of the season between the teams back in October, and are 3-1 straight up the last 4 times these teams have played one another.

Miami has also covered in each of their last 4 meetings when facing teams from the Atlantic Division.

With a chance to get back to the break-even .500 mark this season if they can win tonight, I will side with the Heat to not only win this game, but to cover it before boarding their plane back down the coast to home where they will face another lowly Eastern Conference side in Chicago on Wednesday.

3* MIAMI

Heat vs. Knicks
Heat-5

How bad have the Knicks become? So bad that they could be receiving a warning from NBA commissioner Adam Silver about overtly tanking. There is precedent for this. Silver warned the Bulls last season about it. New York is 1-16 in its last 17 games going 7-10 ATS. The Knicks have lost 10 straight home games, going 2-8 ATS. Miami is 11-5 ATS in its last 16 road games. You know the Heat will be well-coached and playing hard for Erik Spoelstra. Miami ranks fourth defensively. You don't know that the Knicks will be exterting much energy for David Fizdale. The Knicks clearly are in tank mode and team chemistry is at low ebb with Fizdale's perplexing rotations, lineup flip flops and unwillingness to play rugged big man Enes Kanter. Fizdale clearly showed he cares more about securing high lottery odds than winning when he held out a healthy Kanter against the Nets in the Knicks' last game. The Knicks rank 28th defensively. They are yielding 10 points more per game than Miami.

Cincinnati vs. Temple
Temple+3

Temple at 15-4 on the season enters this tilt against red hot Cincinnati playing their best hoops at home this season (8-1 SU) and have been good to their betting backers of late when getting some home cooking as is evident by a 4-0-1 ATS mark From a long term perspective here in the Liacouras Center. HC Fran Dunphy has helped garner this Temple basketball program a powerful 290-90 SU record at home spanning 13 seasons and more importantly has covered 16 of his L/24 ATS as a conference home pup. Meanwhile, thanks to public leaning lines that are being procured by the lines makers and offered by the books the Bearcats are just 0-4 ATS as visitors vs above .500 opposition. Today and a tilt I have pegged at a one possession game , getting points Im betting will be golden.

Play on Temple to cover

Georgetown at St. John's 12:00 ET

Red Storm (-) over Hoyas

'We' had them the first time these two met and 'we' will have them again! The Red Storm I mean, using St. John's (-1.5) as our 'Highest-rated' Megabucks four weeks ago Saturday and they had to go to overtime to win 97-94. Georgetown had won 13 straight as hosts (We were 13-2 with FT GOY and have the 1st of the year SUNDAY! Get it NOW...Michigan State/Purdue) against the Johnnies before that loss and as we see every time out they just have not made improvement under Ewing the way St. John's has under Mullin. Take the RED STORM!

Bucks vs. Thunder
Thunder-1

My 1* Free Play is on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

I don’t think that the home floor advantage can be discounted as a very real deciding factor in this particular matchup between these conference leading contenders.

The Bucks come in off a 108-99 win over Charlotte on Friday, while OKC got the better of New Orleans 122-116 on Thursday.

Would anyone fault the Bucks if they had a small mental letdown in this difficult road venue? Milwaukee comes in having won six straight. Overall the Bucks are 10-9-2 ATS on the road this season. Milwaukee averages 117.4 PPG, while allowing 107.4.

The Thunder though have won four straight and they’re 12-10 ATS at home. OKC averages 114.2 PPG and it concedes 109.3.

There’s loads of offensive talent on both sides of the floor and it wouldn’t be hard to write a convincing argument for either of these teams to come out on top tonight. The oddsmakers clearly agree that they’re very evenly matched, but I’ll point out that Milwaukee is still only 20-30 ATS in its last 50 as a road dog of six points or less.

Conversely note that the Thunder are a solid 27-17 ATS in their last 44 as a home favorite of six points or less.

For all the reasons listed above, consider the home side in this one.

Good luck…Larry
