NHL | Coyotes vs Ducks
Play on: Ducks -155 at pinnacle

My free play is on the Ana Ducks at 10:05 ET.

The Arizona Coyotes finished last season with Western Conference-worst 70 points (29-41-12), 47 points fewer than the Nashville Predators, whose 117 points were an NHL-best. The Coyotes have yet to score a goal to start the current season, opening with a 3-0 loss at Dallas and then losing at home 1-0 this past Saturday to Anaheim. The Ducks defeated the Coyotes in Phoenix, despite getting outshot 41-20. Anaheim finished second in the Pacific Division last season and the team's 101 points were tied for fourth-best in the West. The Ducks have opened this season 3-0-0, as they get set to welclarrme the Coyotes to the Honda Center tonight in Anaheim.

Arizona head coach Rick Tocchet recently indicated that his team needs to quit taking shortcuts during practice. He cited an example of players not following up their shots and pursuing rebounds. "As a player, when you do drills, finish the drill," he said. "If you do the right things, good things will happen. I'm a big believer, if you're taking shortcuts, then it's hard to get out of a slump." Arizona was the second-lowest scoring team in the NHL last season at 2.51 GPG and as noted, have yet to score in two losses. The Coyotes traded center Max Domi to the Montreal Canadiens in June for center Alex Galchenyuk, the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2012.However, he has yet to play with a lower body injury.

Brendan Perlini failed to record a shot against the Ducks on Saturday and has just two this season after finishing second on the club with 17 goals in 2017-18.

The Ducks are averaging a modest 2.67 GPG but are 3-0 behind the exceptional play of goaltender John Gibson. He has saved 91 of 95 shots this season (.958). "He's been our MVP for the three games," Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said after Gibson made 19 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Monday night. "You don't have a starting point in the NHL if you don't have goaltending." The injury-riddled Ducks are without captain Ryan Getzlaf, former Hart Trophy winner Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler and Patrick Eaves."

Injuries and rehabilitations have forced the Anaheim Ducks to insert several rookies into their lineup during the first week of the season but they're off to one of their best starts in franchise history. Max Comtois is one of the five rookie forwards that the Ducks started against the Red Wings on Monday. He had an assist to give him a point in each of his first three NHL games. Comtois scored in his second straight game to open his NHL career, when Anaheim edged Arizona on Saturday. Anaheim was 26-10-5 at home last season and should handle the punch-less Coyotes with relative ease in this one.
