Kudos for the short-handed Mustangs getting by the Huskies of Connecticut on Thursday afternoon, as SMU was able to dominate UConn, 80-73 in a game they led by 19-points at the break. Having said that, beating a bad Connecticut team and stepping up against the ranked Cincinnati Bearcats are two different matters altogether.
Cincinnati is the rested "bye" team, and they have won 4 straight, and 20 of their last 22 games overall! They have covered 5 of their last 7 games when listed as the double-digit favorite. Overall, the 'Cats are on a 6-3-1 run when asked to cover 10-points or more on the season.
Series numbers show Cincy having dumped SMU in both regular season meetings, winning by 25-points as the -7 1/2 point road favorite in Dallas on February 11th, and winning by 20-points as the -7 point home favorite at the end of January. Can you say humiliation? Can you say domination?
Yes, this is a big impost on a neutral site court, but based on what has gone down in the regular season, no other way to play it in Orlando this Friday afternoon.

In addition, they show 12-5 ATS against winning units, while the Tide brings a 1-4 ATS record off SU win. Remember too, the line opened -6 Auburn and has been bet down overnight to -5-1/2. The Flames finally got off the schneid with a 5-1 road win at Buffalo on Wednesday, but their playoff hopes are still on life support. They are in Canada's Capital tonight, taking on the cellar dwelling Senators. This is a must win game for the Flames, who currently sit three points back of LA. The Kings occupy the final Wild Card spot in the West, and LA also has a game in hand. The Senators are also in a heated battle, but not for a playoff spot. Ottawa is one of a handful of teams that are suspected to be tanking, competing for the league's worst record. They are just a few points up on the Sabres and the Coyotes, and I don't see any reason why they would want to put any more distance between them in the standings. They lost 4-3 to the Sabres in a shootout last night, in a game that neither team really wanted to win. Ottawa might start backup goaltender Mike Condon in the second game of a back to back, and he's just 4-12-5 with a 3.24 GAA this season.
