IOWA ST. @ MIAMI (FLA.) | 03/25 | 9:59 PM EDT
MIAMI (FLA.) -145
ANALYSIS: You may want to take my pick here with many grains of salt because I thought both these teams would lose in Round 1 -- and I'm a Hurricanes fan. They can go so cold from three-point range at times that I expected a loss to much bigger USC, but here they are and it's a veteran-laden, guard-heavy team. Maybe the ACC wasn't so bad after all this season. T.J. Otzelberger has worked a miracle at Iowa State, which was 2-22 last year under Steve Prohm. While both clubs have been great regarding turnovers, UM is a bit better with a +4.63 TO margin to rank fifth nationally. The Canes also own a +7.83 margin in points off giveaways. Finally, Miami will be able to get easier baskets because it can get out and run, and that's not really ISU's thing. Per Synergy Sports, the Hurricanes have the best transition offense in the nation, averaging 1.231 points per possession. Miami reaches its first-ever Elite Eight.

N. CAROLINA +2.5
ANALYSIS: The Tar Heels have a massive advantage in rebounding. I'm shocked the line is this high. UCLA will be doing something for the first time this season - playing with six days of rest. North Carolina is 3-0 when having six days' rest and 6-1 against UCLA in their last seven matchups. I have been more impressed with the Tar Heels' wins in the Tournament than the Bruins' victories. Take the underdog.

UCLA -2
ANALYSIS: North Carolina looked great as it pulled away from Duke in the regular season finale and rolled over Marquette basically from the tip, but this isn't a team that has been elite in close games. Even in games they win, the Tar Heels' late-game execution has been suspect and that doesn't bode well going up against Mick Cronin and a UCLA team with versatility up and down the rotation. If the game is going to be close, which the oddsmakers are suggesting, I think the Bruins will win the clutch possessions and cover the number.

OVER 141.5
ANALYSIS: UCLA plays good defense and allows only 64.2 points per game, but six of its last eight games have gone Over the total. North Carolina just beat two really good teams to get to the Sweet 16, and the Tar Heels did so by ramping up the pace early. Five of the Tar Heels' last seven have gone Over the total. The Over went 21-13 in UNC games this season. Over is the top play in this game.

ST. PETER'S @ PURDUE | 03/25 | 7:09 PM EDT
UNDER 134
ANALYSIS: Saint Peter's has won and covered its last nine games and has had a few days to reflect on what it has done to reach the Sweet 16. Purdue has a huge size advantage, but so did Kentucky in the first round. Purdue coach Matt Painter seems to lose tragically often in the NCAA Tournament; pressure he feels. I see a lot of standing around cautiously and the clock running. I'm on the Under.

ST. PETER'S @ PURDUE | 03/25 | 7:09 PM EDT
ST. PETER'S +12.5
ANALYSIS: The Peacocks are the feel good story of the tournament, but they are also a very well coached team. This shows in how great they have been defensively. The Peacocks are 9-0 SU and ATS in their last nine games. The Boilermakers are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games. This matchup is lopsided, but the Peacocks are ready to put up another fight. They will keep this game closer than this spread.

IOWA ST. @ MIAMI (FLA.) | 03/25 | 9:59 PM EDT
MIAMI (FLA.) -2.5
ANALYSIS: I didn’t expect the Cyclones to make it out of the first round, let alone making it to the second weekend. They played against two defensive oriented teams. Now they have to face the Hurricanes who are offensively oriented. The Hurricanes are 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games. This spread is way too low. Lay the points.

ST. PETER'S +13
ANALYSIS: My bracket is busted as I'm sure like many are with Gonzaga out, so now I hope Saint Peter's wins it all. Obviously not going to happen and they aren't winning tonight, but certainly think they can hang by 10 or so. I'm a Sparty fan so I watch the Big Ten fairly frequently, and Purdue tends to play to its level of competition. And no disrespect to Saint Peter's, but it's a step down in competition from, say, Texas, which the Boilers beat last week.

WASHINGTON @ BUFFALO | 03/25 | 7:00 PM EDT
BUFFALO +1.5
ANALYSIS: I just want the NHL season to end honestly. This week alone, I have lost on home teams of at -290, -270, -220 and -200 all by one goal and three in a shootout -- in theory, the home team should have an advantage in the shootout! It's just illogical and I'm frankly tired of it. And I'm tired of every favorite being at least -200 as is the case tonight. The only remote value I see on the board is Buffalo on the puckline (actually been doing well on home PL teams, that's about it) as the Sabres have won five of six overall while the Caps have dropped two straight and it's the front end of a B2B.
