Pick: South Carolina -21.5
(Lean: Under 117.5 points)

South Carolina opened the NCAA Tournament by allowing 21 points to Howard on Friday. That's an NCAA Tournament record. There's not much left to be said about the Gamecocks' dominance this year, other than that sportsbooks don't seem to quite be caught up to it yet.

Miami is a hot team and filled it up against a great South Florida defense in the first round. But South Carolina is just a whole different ball game. Take Dawn Staley's squad up to -22.5.

UTAH VS. TEXAS | 3/20 | 5 P.M. ET
PICK: Texas -9.5
(Lean Under 137.5)

Utah continued its magical run with a blowout over Arkansas in Round 1, putting up 92 points in classic Utes fashion. Utah's offense has been a thing of beauty all season after the team won just five games last year.

If there's one thing the Longhorns hate, however, it's beautiful basketball. Texas hangs its hat on making pretty offenses look ugly, and that's been apparent ever since they knocked off Stanford and its aesthetically pleasing Princeton offense in the first week of the season, holding the Cardinal to just 56 points on the road.

Expect a double-digit win for Texas here.

KANSAS VS. STANFORD | 3/20 | 9 P.M. ET
PICK: Stanford -18.5
(Lean Under 135.5)

Speaking of that Stanford team, with the exception of that Texas game, it has been cooking this year after winning last year's national title. The Cardinal even got a Fran Belibi dunk in Round 1.

Kansas would prefer to play an up-tempo game, but that's the exact type of contest that can allow Stanford to pull away. The Cardinal should win by 20-plus, so this line or -19.5 are both good bets.

The 2021 March Madness Tournament has been unpredictable. It seems like every game has been an upset. Yesterday six of the eight dogs covered the spread. The key in this game is coaching. It’s obvious Jay Wright is the superior coach, but this game is all about who can protect the ball better. It comes down to who gets more possessions. Ohio State is sloppy with the ball while the Wildcats value it. Look for the Wildcats to advance. Take Villanova.

The next loss for Duke will be the final game for Coach K. I believe most basketball fans don’t want to see that today. Duke has a lot of media attention on them yet still has flown under the radar this year. Both teams have a lot of talent and have great coaching, but in this tournament, it usually comes down to the team that doesn’t give away the basketball. Michigan State gets sloppy at times while the Blue Devils protect the basketball. Take Duke.

This year, Iowa State has been impressive with new starters and a new coach. The Cyclones won 2 games last year but are 40 minutes from getting to the sweet sixteen. Wisconsin had better teams in the past, but it’s all about turnovers this late in March. The Badgers are the number one team in the nation when protecting the basketball and not giving their opponents extra chances to score. I don’t think Iowa State is ready to be a sweet sixteen team. Take Wisconsin.

ANALYSIS: The Cyclones had lost three straight entering the NCAA Tournament, and their five-point win over LSU did not convince me they're back to mid-season form. Iowa State's turnaround is a great story, but the team has averaged 51 points over its last four games. Wisconsin almost never turns over the ball. It has three reliable scorers led by Johnny Davis, the All-American who scored the Badgers' last 14 points versus Colgate. After surviving 10 Colgate 3-pointers but failing to cover Friday, look for Wisconsin to cover this middling number as Iowa State's Cinderella season ends.

Now they face an Auburn team that blew out Jacksonville State but has gotten inconsistent play from its backcourt. The Hurricanes rank 12th nationally with 8.8 steals per game; they can disrupt Auburn's guards. They also have a proven coach who will have them well-prepared to defend Jabari Smith. Miami thrives in the underdog role (23-8-1 ATS run) and should give the Tigers a real scare.

Look for the Irish to run out of gas versus Texas Tech's suffocating defense, and for the Red Raiders to improve to 18-5 ATS versus winning teams.

The Hurricanes take smart shots and are hitting at a 47.7 percent rate. Miami was 19-14-1 ATS this season. There should be a fast pace set by both teams. Consider the Over as well, but the top play is taking the points with Miami.

Kenpom ranks the Boilermakers second in offensive efficiency and 90th in defensive efficiency. The Longhorns are a very good team on both sides of the ball. Their defense should be the difference in this game. The Longhorns should be favored in this game.

But Arizona is clicking on all cylinders right now and just had a six-game Over streak snapped in its 87-70 win over Wright State, staying just under 157.5 points. The Over is the top play.

If Illinois loses this game it probably be by more than 3.5 points, but I do think they have a good chance to win it too. March has been absolutely insane, especially with spreads. I'm taking the plus money and rooting for the underdog that had one of the toughest schedules in all of D1.

The Seahawks' reliance on Jaylen Sims proved to be their downfall in the Colonial when they lost to Delaware and with how VMI plays that might not matter. The Virginia Military Academy are a run and gun type offense that sacrifices defense in an attempt to outscore opponents. I like the strategy to succeed, this is the first postseason game for them since 2014 and they're going to come out ready. VMI to win.
