ANALYSIS: Here we go again. I took this bet last week and ate the L. Today I'm back because it's the right play. This time there's a championship on the line so I think we'll get the proper effort out of Houston. Everyone loves this Penny Hardaway Tigers resurgence story after being down in the dumps but I think it's giving us value on the other side. My model is projecting this game at 6.5 points so we're getting a nice edge. I'll fade what appears to be recency bias at play here, which has lowered the number for our convenience, and lay the points with the Cougars.

ANALYSIS: The Ivy has been off for two years and is playing its fourth ever tournament championship today. I like Yale to keep it close and potentially win it. This is a big game and Princeton's style leads me to believe they will have to hit some big threes to score the amount of points Vegas is expecting. Yale has the top defense in this conference and I think they're going to give the Princeton shooting a bit of trouble. They should be able to force them off the three point line and then execute a consistent offense in the half court. I'll take the points in what should be a close game.

1) #4 Kevin Harvick (17-1) -- He didn't win a race anywhere last season after posting a series-high nine victories in 2020. But Stewart-Haas Racing looks as though it's got something cooking with the new car. It also has the best driver in Phoenix Raceway history behind the wheel. All Harvick has done is average an 8.8 finish in 38 starts there. His nine wins, 18 top-fives, 27 top-10s and 1,663 laps led are track records. He's finished ninth or better in his last 17 starts at Phoenix. Go Harvick, go!
2) #12 Ryan Blaney (10-1) -- I think I've made him part of my betting strategy at Phoenix in every race since he came to Penske in 2018, and I'm doing it again this week. He's won a few stages and led lots of laps but has been unable to win. The new car gives some extra hope.
3) #2 Austin Cindric (40-1) -- This play is based on several things: the unknown of the new car, him winning the Daytona 500, Team Penske and his past history at Phoenix. He's won two of the last three Xfinity Series races at the track. This kid is just oozing with confidence right now.
4) #5 Kyle Larson (9-2) -- He's been seventh or better in his last six starts at Phoenix, culminating with his first Cup Series win last fall - which also gave him his first series championship. Larson led a race-high 107 laps prior to winning that race and was runner-up in the spring. He's going to find the top five most weeks.
5) #11 Denny Hamlin (13-2) -- Hamlin sits 30th in points and is one of the few drivers without a top-10 finish through three races. He might have had the best car last weekend in Las Vegas, but some bad stuff happened for the third straight week. A one-mile flat track is just what he needs to get going in 2022. His 10.5 average finish at Phoenix is second-best among all active drivers and he has two Cup Series wins there, the last coming in the fall of 2019. He also has top-fives in five of his last six starts on the track.
6) #19 Kyle Busch (15-2) -- He's got three Cup Series wins at Phoenix, 12 top-fives and 1,190 laps led in his 33 starts. Busch also has 11 Xfinity Series victories and two Truck Series triumphs at the track. He's a serious contender to win.
7) #22 Joey Logano (8-1) -- Logano is a two-time Cup Series winner at Phoenix, the last coming in 2020. There's still a learning process with the new car, but we saw him win at the Los Angeles Coliseum on a super-short track that fits his style. I think he'll do well this week, and he'll be in my betting strategy.
8) #10 Aric Almirola (25-1) -- He's the only driver with three top-10s in the Cup Series so far, and this always has been a great track for him. In eight starts at Phoenix with SHR, Almirola has eight finishes of 13th or better - including two top-fives. He's in his final year of Cup Series racing, and he's getting after it at the start of a season better than I've ever seen.
9) #8 Tyler Reddick (25-1) -- Reddick has been very competitive with this new car, although he has a problem with his leg falling asleep in the new seat. This always has been a great track for Richard Childress Racing in different eras with different cars.
10) #19 Martin Truex Jr. (6-1) -- He won his first race at Phoenix last spring and was runner-up in the fall while racing for the championship. Truex has posted top-10 finishes in seven of his last nine starts there. However, all those great numbers came with the old car.
