Georgetown beat a couple stiffs by 13-11 points to start their season; Hoyas played pace #29 so far- they start two sophs, two seniors, have four starters back from LY’s 19-14 team that went 9-9 in Big East, then lost in first round of NIT. Penn State beat couple of bottom 20 teams by 38-27 points; Nittany Lions forced turnovers on 24.9% of possessions (#37)- they start three sophs, two seniors, have four starters back from LY’s 14-18 team that went 7-13 in Big 14.
Florida beat North Florida by 15, then lost by 12 at home to Florida State, going 4-22 on arc- it was their 6th straight loss to FSU. Gators played a bottom 10 pace in country s0 far- they start three sophs and a frosh, have three starters back from LY’s 20-16 team that went 9-9 in SEC, then won a game in NCAA’s. Towson beat GW by 14, then lost to Kent State in OT, they start two sophs, two seniors, have all five starters back from LY’s 10-22 team that went 6-12 in CAA. Harvard lost 67-64 at Siena LY, despite shooting 56.2% inside arc; Crimson split its first two D-I games- they lost by 5 at Northeastern, then beat Maine by 21. UL-Monroe split its first two D-I games, beating Alcorn in OT, then losing by 6 at Texas A&M, after they led by 10 in 2nd half. Richmond nipped St Francis PA in OT in its opener Friday, after being down 12 with 3:04 left; they were 13-29 on arc. Frosh PG Mannion has already been called best PG of Miller era in Tucson. San Jose State upset Hofstra on Long Island, then lost at home to Portland; Spartans start two seniors, two sophs, have two starters back from LY’s 4-27 team that went 1-17 in Mountain West.
Michigan State split its first two games, losing to Kentucky in NYC, then beating a stiff by 53; Spartans start two sophs and a frosh, have two starters back from LY’s 32-7 team that went 16-4 in Big 14 and made Final Four. Seton Hall beat couple of stiffs by 34-17 points, shooting 59.8% inside arc- they start three seniors, two juniors, have four starters back from LY’s 20-14 team that went 9-9 in Big East. pirates forced turnovers 24.4% of time so far this year (#47) but they are stepping way up in class here.
Arkansas State beat a stiff by 16, then lost by 28 at Ole Miss, when they turned ball over 23 times in a 69-possession game; Red Wolves start three seniors, two juniors, lost four starters from LY’s 13-19 team that went 7-11 in Sun Belt. VMI lost its first three games, by 12-3-2 points, while shooting only 43.3% inside arc.
