On the surface this appears to be a few points too high for the Thunder to comfortably cover, as the Timberwolves have owned them this season with 3 wins and 3 covers in as many meetings! Overall, Minnesota is 7-2 in the last 9 series meetings, and has covered in 8 of those 9 meetings.
Based on those numbers, sure looks tempting to back the Timberwolves, especially when you consider Minny has won their last pair of games, and are 4-3 straight up their last 7 as we head into the last 3 of the campaign starting today. The Wolves just dealt playoff-seeking Miami a hurtful 111-109 loss at the Target Center and will now look to play spoiler to the playoff-seeking Thunder.
Oklahoma City is a half-game ahead of San Antonio for the last spot in the West, but also just a half-game behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the 6th spot in the conference standings.
OKC just concluded 5 straight at home with wins and covers in their last pair over the Lakers and the Pistons, as they have won 3 of their last 5 overall heading into this series finale in Minnesota today.
The Thunder do have a date at home on Tuesday with the # 3 seeded Houston Rockets, then close out the regular season against the # 1 team in the East in a game at Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Even though they have lost all 3 in this year's season series, this is the easiest of the last 3 games they will be playing, and I like Oklahoma City as the road chalk to step up today and exorcise some demons against this Minnesota club.
Russell Westbrook has once again reached a triple-double average for the season, while his teammate Paul George continues with his MVP-candidate season. Steven Adams is shooting almost 68% from the floor too.
You know as well as I do, that finishing in the # 8 slot would be a death sentence for the Thunder, as the "lucky" team to end up in that last spot gets the pleasure of facing the Golden State Warriors in the opening round of the postseason next weekend.

Sunday comp play is the Braves on the Run Line at home over the Marlins.
After getting blanked 4-0 on Friday night at Sun Trust Park, Miami was able to even things in this weekend series with the Braves, by winning it 4-2 on Saturday night.
That win ended a stretch of 4 straight losses in which they were outscored, 23-12.
I am going to call for the Braves who had won 4 in a row - all at home - prior to last night's setback to get back into the win column behind southpaw Sean Newcomb who did struggle with his control in his season debut, but also found a way to make it through 4 scoreless innings in a game his team won, 8-0 over the Cubs.
Newcomb dominated the Marlins last season, going 4-0 in as many starts, while allowing just 2 runs in 24 innings worked.
Miami sends Caleb Smith out for his second start of the new season. He is off a no-decision to the Mets in which he allowed just 2 runs in 5 innings with 8 strikeouts. Smith did lose in his lone assignment last year to the Braves, and his team is a dismal 4-12 their last 16 games played against Atlanta, and also just 5-16 their last 21 played at Atlanta.
I will side with the Bravos on the Run Line today.
