I'll take my chances here with Pittsburgh as a small home favorite against the Cardinals. The Pirates might not be talked about in the NL Central in the same light as the Cubs, Cardinals and Brewers, but I guarantee you this team believes they can compete in this division. When this team traded McCutchen last year, everyone thought they were in rebuilding mode. While they did end up 4th in the division, they had a winning record at 82-79.
There's a lot of advantages here for Pittsburgn. PNC Park is going to be electric for the home opener, St Louis is coming off a grueling 4-game series at Milwaukee against the defending champs and the Pirates are fresh having played only two games.
I also would give the starting pitching edge to Pittsburgh, as they will send out Chris Archer against 37-year-old Adam Wainwright. Archer got off to a poor start with the Pirates but seemed to find his footing in September. I don't how much I'll trust him on the road, but I'm expecting him to pitch well at home. Wainwright had a solid spring, but has been inconsistent in the latter stages of his career and doesn't figure to pitch deep into the game. Cardinals staff allowed 19 runs (at least 4 in each) in their 4-game series with Milwaukee. Give me the Pirates -124!

The Atlanta Braves are the only team in the MLB with a zero in the win column, and unfortunately for them I think that will also be the case following Monday's slate of games.
The Chicago Cubs hand the ball to right-hander Kyle Hendricks (2018: 14-11, 3.44 ERA) who is 1-0 behind a 2.33 ERA in four career outings (three starts) against the Atlanta. He was 7-4 with a 3.41 ERA in 16 road starts last year and the Cubs are 4-0 in Hendricks' last four road starts.
The Braves turn to Sean Newcomb (2018: 12-9, 3.90 ERA). The 25 year old southpaw is 0-2 with a 5.17 ERA in three career meetings with Chicago and the current Cubs are hitting a combined .348 over 46 at bats against him. We can also note that Newcomb struggled with his command during spring traning, walking 14 in 21 innings of work.
The Cubs are 7-2 in their last nine road games vs. a left-handed starter and have already scored 28 runs on the season following a 12-4 win over Texas on Sunday. Javier Baez is 6-for-14 with two homers and six RBI through the first three games and 4-for-9 in previous meetings with Newcomb.

My 1* Free Play in the Brooklyn Nets (7:35 EST).
The Bucks come in off an exhausting and somewhat deflating 136-135 OT road loss in Atlanta just last night and I believe they’ll have a hard time mustering up the same energy levels in the second game of the back-to-back and in this difficult road arena.
Also note that the Nets play with the added “double revenge” factor, most recently falling 113-94 here back on February 4th to the East leading Bucks. Note though that Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as questionable for this one (additionally note that Milwaukee is just 2-5 ATS in its last seven when playing on zero days rest.)
The Nets broke a two-game slide with a win over Boston last time out. Brooklyn is currently in seventh in the East, but with only a 1.5 games lead over the ninth spot, it can ill afford to take the foot off the gas at this point.
It’s difficult to beat a team three times in one year. Consider the Nets in this favorable situation.
