DUKE -2

I think this has a great chance to go to the wire and maybe we get another overtime. But I’m leaning Duke primarily due to the one Michigan State liability that could be a difference maker, and that’s turnovers. If the rebounding is close to a wash as I suspect it will be, those potential extra possessions Duke gets could be pivotal. On the flip side, Izzo vs. Coach K is an edge for Sparty and if this comes down to in game adjustments, I know which coach I prefer. Add it all up and it’s an easy pass for me. But for action purposes, plus the fact i’m in the opinion business, I’ll side with Duke to pull the game out.

DWAYNE CONNORS

Sunday comp play will be the Under in the Auburn-Kentucky Midwest Regional Final from the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

I know that Auburn has now played Over the total in all 3 of their Big Dance games, and their offensive output has risen in all 3, as they scored 78 in the opening round against New Mexico State. Then they racked up 89 in dumping Kansas, and on Friday night they were able to come up with 97 points in dispatching # 1 - North Carolina!

Pretty darn impressive, but the loss of forward Chuma Okeke late in the game on Friday is going to have an effect on the points the Tigers are able to post in this Sunday affair. Okeke was averaging 13.6 points per game, and 7.4 rebounds per game for Bruce Pearl's team, but Okeke was at 20 points and 11 boards on Friday when he crumpled to the floor with a knee injury. Make no mistake, those points and rebounds will be missed in this game, and it will help this game to stay Under the total.

Whereas some teams get overwhelmed by Auburn's uptempo pace, Kentucky is a conference opponent that knows full well what to expect when they take on the Tigers. The Wildcats have played all 3 of their tourney games Under the total, and John Calipari's team is now on a pronounced 13-3 Under run dating back to the start of February. It is a run that includes an 80-53 Under in their second meeting of the season with Auburn. The first meeting between the teams back in January did land Over the total, but the Overs when these SEC rivals tangle have been rare, as 4 of the last 5 series meetings, and 12 of the past 15 played between the teams have landed Under the total.

Kentucky comes into this tournament game on a 13-3 Under run in their last 16 Big Dance games, and I am sure John Calipari will stress to his team that this game needs to be played at UK's preferred half-court pace. I am sure there will be stretches where the action gets a little "helter-skelter", but in general, I think this game is played at a slower pace and the Under is the right side of the pair of totals in action for Sunday.

2* AUBURN-KENTUCKY UNDER

Sunday comp play is to take the generous points with the Sacramento Kings as they make it a close game tonight in San Antonio versus the Spurs.

The Spurs clinched their 22nd straight playoff berth earlier this week, but still plenty of positioning to be gained/lost in this final week of the regular season, as the Western Conference standings are as tight as it gets.

The Kings loss in Houston the other night gave San Antonio their playoff spot, as Sacramento comes into this one having dropped their last pair, and 3 of 4 overall on their current road trip.

Sacramento continues to improve, and while they will not be joining in the postseason fun, they do have a chance to actually finish this season with a winning record for the first time in 13 years.

Right now the Kings stand at 37-39, and they have won both series meetings this year with the Spurs, defeating San Antonio at home in both November and in early February. They have also covered in each of the last 3 series meetings, and in 5 of the past 9 overall.

San Antonio has only gone 1-3-1 against the spread over their last 5 games, and with a playoff spot assured, I am not expecting a blowout effort tonight from Coach Pop's club.

The Spurs do just enough to win this game, but the Kings take it against the spread plus the generous points.

1* SACRAMENTO

Edges - Hornets: Visitor is 6-0-1 ATS in this series … Warriors: 2-10 ATS last twelve games on Sundays … With the Hornet looking to avenge an 11-point same season loss to Golden State, we recommend a 1* play on Charlotte. Thank you and good luck as always.

Michigan State/Duke- OVER- A contrast I coaching styles here with a pair of high scoring clubs with defensive minded coaches. When in the heat of the action the player on the court wins out and both side supply plenty of offensive firepower. MSU is over 9-2 their last 11 against ACC competition and the Spartans play to a 7-3 Over tune in their last 10 NCAA Tourney games. If both clubs hit their average with the Devils (83.1) and MSU (78.5) it goes over easily...Play OVER!
