The NBA action goes on with nine games on today’s schedule. The battle for the playoff spots is heating up, and we’ll see some quite interesting matchups including the Denver Nuggets at the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards at the Charlotte Hornets, so here are all must-read betting trends and notes to help you make the best bets tonight.

Featured game: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat

The Cleveland Cavaliers (16-49; 30-34-1 ATS) and the Miami Heat (30-34; 34-30 ATS) will wrap up the series at American Airlines Arena in Miami tonight, and the Heat lead 3-0, covering the spread on two occasions. Miami is 9-3 straight up and 8-4 ATS in its last 12 meetings with Cleveland, while the Heat is 15-0 straight up and 9-6 ATS in the previous 15 head-to-head duels at American Airlines Arena. Miami opened as an 8.5-point favorite on this one with the total at 213.5 points and the Cavaliers at +310 money line odds.

Cleveland is coming off a 113-107 defeat at Brooklyn Wednesday night to record its third loss over the last five outings. The Cavaliers are 5-5 straight up and 6-4 ATS in their last ten games overall, and are 3-9 straight up and 4-7-1 ATS in their previous 12 outings on the road. The Cavs are 0-7 straight up and 3-4 ATS in their seven road meetings with the Southeast Division this season, while the under is 5-2 during that span. Also, the Cavaliers are 2-7 straight up and 4-5 ATS in their last nine road encounters with the Eastern Conference.

Miami is on a three-game winning streak following a 91-84 victory at the Charlotte Hornets this past Wednesday. The Heat is holding the No. 8 seed in the East one game ahead of the Orlando Magic and the Charlotte Hornets. Miami is 5-4 straight up and 6-3 ATS in its last nine contests overall, and is just 3-6 straight up and 2-7 ATS in its previous nine showings on the home court. The Heat is 2-4 straight up and ATS in its six home meetings with the Central Division this season, and is 5-3 straight up and 3-5 ATS in its last eight home encounters with the Eastern Conference.

Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors

The Denver Nuggets (43-21; 35-29 ATS) and the Golden State Warriors (44-20; 25-38-1 ATS) will lock horns for the third time this season, and the series is tied after a couple of games at Pepsi Center in Denver. The Warriors are 9-5 straight up and 3-9-2 ATS in their last 14 meetings with the Nuggets, while they are 6-1 straight up and 1-5-1 ATS in the previous seven H2H duels in Oakland, and the over is 5-2 in that span. The reigning champions opened as 6.5-point favorites here with the total at 233.0 points and the Nuggets at +215 money line odds. The Warriors are topping the Western Conference at the moment one game ahead of the Nuggets.

Denver is coming off a 115-99 win at the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night to snap their three-game losing streak. The Nuggets are 6-4 straight up and ATS in their last ten games overall, and the under is 9-1 during that stretch, while they are 5-6 straight up and 4-7 ATS in their previous 11 outings away from home. On the other side, the Warriors are coming off an embarrassing 128-95 defeat to the Boston Celtics Tuesday night to record their fourth loss over the last six outings, while the under is 5-1 in that span. The Warriors are 6-5 straight up and only 1-10 ATS in their last 11 contests overall, and are 7-3 straight up and 2-7-1 ATS in their last ten showings on the home court.

Washington Wizards vs. Charlotte Hornets

The Washington Wizards (27-37; 29-35 ATS) are still alive, sitting at the 11th spot of the Eastern Conference table three games behind the No. 8 seed Miami Heat. The Wizards have won two games in a row, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 135-121 and the Dallas Mavericks 132-123 at home, while they are 5-5 straight up and 6-4 ATS over their last ten outings, and the over is 9-1 during that span. Washington is 2-7 straight up and 3-6 ATS in its last nine games on the road, and the over is 8-1 in that stretch. On the other side, the Charlotte Hornets (29-35; 29-33-2 ATS) dropped to the 10th spot in the East after a 91-84 loss to Miami on Wednesday. The Hornets are 2-7 straight up and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine outings, and the over is 6-3 in that stretch, while they are 0-5 straight up and 0-4-1 ATS in their previous five games at home.

These two divisional foes will meet each other for the third time this season, and the series is tied whereas each team has been victorious on the home court. The Hornets are 5-3 straight up and ATS in their last eight meetings with the Wizards, and six of those eight matchups were finished in the over, while the Hornets are 4-0 straight up and ATS in the previous four H2H duels in Charlotte. The Hornets are 6-1 straight up and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home meetings with the Southeast Division, while the Wizards are 3-6 straight up and 4-5 ATS in their previous nine road encounters with the Southeast Division. Charlotte opened as a 4.5-point fave here with the total at 234.0 points and Washington at +170 money line odds.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Orlando Magic

The Dallas Mavericks (27-37; 35-28 ATS) are on a three-game losing streak following a 132-123 defeat at Washington Wednesday night, while the Mavs are just 1-8 straight up and ATS over their last nine contests overall. Also, the Mavs are 0-5 straight up and ATS in their last five showings away from home, while they are 4-14 straight up and 9-9 ATS in their previous 18 road meetings with the Eastern Conference. The Mavericks will almost certainly miss the playoffs, while the Orlando Magic (30-36; 35-30-1 ATS) is just one game behind the No. 8 seed in the East. Orlando has dropped two games in a row losing at Cleveland 107-93 and Philadelphia 114-106, while the Magic is 8-4 straight up and ATS in its last 12 games overall. Orlando is 5-1 straight up and ATS in its last six games at home, and is 5-4 straight up and ATS in its previous nine home encounters with the Western Conference.

The Mavericks have defeated the Magic 101-76 as 4.5-point home favorites in their first H2H matchup of the season. The Mavs are 7-3 straight up and 6-4 ATS in their last ten meetings with the Magic, but Orlando is 3-0 straight up and ATS in the previous three H2H duels in Florida after nine consecutive straight-up and ATS losses on the home court. The Magic opened as a 6.5-point fave on this one with the total at 213.5 points and the Mavs at +235 money line odds. Orlando is 4-1 straight up and ATS in its last five home outings as a favorite, while Dallas is 0-8 straight up and 2-6 ATS in its last eight road games when listed as a dog.

Game of the Night - Denver at Golden State (-6.5, 236), 10:35 ET, ESPN

The Warriors are being doubted again.

We’ll see if they actually care considering it is still the regular season, but squaring off against the team that remains their top competition for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference should bring out the best in them. Golden State opens the night one game up on the Nuggets for the best record in the West and all the spoils that come with that, so we’ll see whether it has the goods to buckle down and take a two-game lead on the team closest to them in the standings.

By now, they’ve heard all the noise. Kevin Durant, who must decide whether to continue with the Warriors as they move to San Francisco or leave for another destination, has shot 5-for-24 from 3-point range over the last three games. The 18 points he scored in Tuesday’s blowout loss to Boston was his fourth-lowest scoring output of the season and lowest-scoring performance in a loss.

He’ll have redemption in mind. DeMarcus Cousins’ defensive shortcomings have been another reason the Warriors have struggled, so his matchup with All-Star Nikola Jokic will be one all eyes will be fixated upon.

Klay Thompson is returning from a two-game absence from knee soreness, so missing one of their five All-Star starters won’t be an excuse. While there are a lot of people tripping over themselves to pick someone else to come out of the West or anoint an East contender the favorite, there’s also a great chance Golden State is simply bored. The regular season still has over a month remaining and a team that has bent over backwards to get Cousins acclimated and ensure he’s in playing shape still has the best record in the league’s most loaded conference.

To write off the Warriors as some sort of washed-up group that Is suddenly vulnerable is the stupidest thing I’ve seen this year. Mind you, we’re only in March, but I have a feeling that I’ll continue feeling this way come December whether Durant is playing in New York alongside Kyrie Irving or with the Warriors as the face of the franchise as the team moves to San Francisco. Golden State remains the heavy betting favorite to win the NBA title later this month and should continue in that role the rest of the way despite all the nonsense currently being spouted by people who should know better.

No, Golden State hasn’t been sharp of late. Yes, they’re still the team that viewed the Nuggets as a viable threat on Jan. 15 and decided to send a message their way by posting a 142-111 rout in Denver. They ensured Nikola Jokic couldn’t feel comfortable by operating at 100 miles per hour and utilizing pace to ensure the Nuggets couldn’t slow the game and get comfortable in the halfcourt.

There’s no question that the Warriors are in better position to pull off an upset this time around, so it will be even more telling if Golden State is able to prove once again that it has bigger fish to fry. For anyone looking to take the points with the Nuggets tonight, the desire to prove that point has to be the motivation. With Will Barton and Paul Millsap back and playing at high level, Isaiah Thomas slowly playing his way into shape with the second unit and a team that legitimately goes 10-deep taking aim at some revenge, there is reason to think they’ll be able to rebound.

There’s also reason to think that the Warriors are simply a bad matchup for the Nuggets and should be avoided at all costs. We’ll see how the presence of Cousins affect things since he’ll be a larger part of the equation here, but Golden State utilized its team speed to blitz Denver in the most recent meeting between the teams and could employ the same approach.

Golden State is 1-9 ATS over its last 10 games and is averaging just 105.4 points on Friday games, which may be another reason you may want to fade the defending champs. They’re last in the NBA with a 25-38-1 against the spread and are just 6-13 ATS after a loss and 11-20-1 ATS at Oracle.

The Nuggets are just 13-18 ATS on the road and haven’t been great outside of Denver, so be wary of that as they face a Golden State that tops the NBA in scoring with 118.2 points per game. With Thompson, Shaun Livingston and Kevon Looney all available, it’s clear the Warriors are looking to send a message in this one. The Nugs are relatively healthy too, missing only power forward Trey Lyles.
