TOMMY BRUNSON
For your Saturday comp play, going to take Syracuse to snap their two game skid, as they are playing an opponent that has never been able to settle in this season at 11-16 for the year in Wake Forest.
The Orange are on a 2-4 straight up slide their last 6, and that includes back-to-back losses at home to Duke by 10 points, and at North Carolina by 8 points. No real shame in either of those losses, but today there would be plenty of shame if the 'Cuse were to fall - or even allow things to be close - at lowly Wake Forest.
To their credit, the Demon Deacons have shown some fight of late, as they have won 2 of their last 3 games straight up, including a 76-75 home upset win over Miami-Florida as the +5 point dog their last time out. It all appears to be a little too late though to get excited in backing Wake though, as they have not been to figure out the Syracuse "puzzle" since the Orange become ACC members, as the Demon Deacons have won just once in the 7 conference meetings since the 2014 season.
The Orange have not only won 6 of those 7, but that have covered in their last pair of wins and in 5 of the last 7 series wins overall.
Syracuse is allowing just 65.2 points per game for the year, while Wake Forest is surrendering a lofty 75.9 points per contest. Yes, the Orange are averaging just about a point more per game (70 to 69) than the Deacons, but a player like Tyus Battle - 29 points vs. UNC - capable of exploiting the poor-defending Demon Deacons, the even the normally pedestrian Orange should be posting some big numbers in this matinee from Winston-Salem.
After having to deal with the "big boys" of Duke and North Carolina their last pair of games, the Orange will enjoy this step-down in class.
Lay it with the 'Cuse.
4* SYRACUSE

Rutgers vs. Iowa
Rutgers+8½ -108
Rutgers has covered five in a row and is not outclassed here like this point spread may indicate. Iowa is 1-2 in its last three games. The Hawkeyes lost to Maryland, 66-65, at home, got past Indiana, 76-70, in overtime at home and was blown out on the road by Ohio State, 90-70, in its last game. Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery was suspended two games following that loss to the Buckeyes for cursing out one of the officials after the game. The Scarlet Knights have made strides this season. No, they can't hang with the big boys of the Big Ten. But they are good enough to stay around the middle tier teams of the conference such as Iowa. They proved that in the first meeting on Feb. 16. It took a desperation 3-point basket at the buzzer for the Hawkeyes to escape with a 71-69 victory. So Rutgers is in revenge mode and is playing well. The Scarlet Knights have been good in this role covering nine of the last 13 times versus opponents sporting a winning home mark. They have covered in four of their last five road games. Iowa is 2-6 ATS the past eight times it has hosted sub .500 road teams. This has been a 'dog series, too, with the favorite failing to cover the last five times.

Ball State vs. Western Michigan
OVER 146½ -109
*3 Star Free Pick* The Ball State Cardinals have been pushing the pace to the extreme of late. They haven't been efficient on offense, but I think playing against a very weak defense like Western Michigan will help.
Western Michigan is last in the MAC in defensive efficiency. The Broncos aren't blocking hardly any shots. They aren't getting many steals at all. They also give up a high percentage on 2 and 3 point field goal attempts. In 10 of their last 14 games, they have allowed at least 79 points.
Western Michigan does play quicker and score more efficiently at home though. That has led to a massive run of overs at home.
The over is 30-9 in Western Michigan's last 39 home games with a total of 156 or lower.
Take the over.

Butler vs. Villanova
10* FREE NCAAB PICK (Villanova -7.5)
I'll take my chances here with Villanova winning here by at least 8 at home against the Bulldogs. I cashed in a winner on the Wildcats in Wednesday's big home revenge game against Marquette. That win and cover snapped a 3-game SU and ATS skid for Villanova and I still think we are seeing them a bit undervalued at home because of that recent poor run.
Butler is just not a great team this year. They come in having lost their last 2 and are just 3-6 in their last 9 overall. Their most recent game saw them lose outright 73-67 as a 5-point home favorite to Providence. Butler is just 4-9 on the road and the Wildcats have gone 23-8 ATS in their last 31 home games, which includes a dominant 9-2 ATS run in their last 11 at home against a team with a losing road record. Give me Villanova -7.5!

Belmont vs. SE Missouri State
Belmont-13½ -110
The NCAAB Comp play is on Belmont at 8:00 eastern. Belmont fits a nice late season system here tonight that plays on road favorites and they have covered 6 of 7 on the road and 8 of the last 10 vs losing teams as well as the last off a win. South East Missouri has failed to cover 13 of 16 vs teams who are .600 or better opponents and have failed to cover the last 6 times off a win. The talent level is too much here Belmont should coast to another blowout win and cover.

Nets vs. Heat
1 Unit FREE PLAY on Miami Heat -4
We last saw the Miami Heat at home upsetting the Golden State Warriors. And they followed up up with an impressive showing at Houston, losing by 3 as 9-point dogs in a game they controlled most the way. And now they get a chance to gain some ground on the Brooklyn Nets in the playoff chase with a win here over the Nets Saturday night. The Nets will be playing for a second consecutive day after a tough home loss to the Hornets last night. That’s a huge advantage for the Heat, who can’t afford a letdown here because they are fighting tooth and nail to make the playoffs. The Nets are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero rest. The Heat are 6-0 ATS in their last six against NBA Atlantic Division teams. Give me the Heat.

Miami-FL vs. Duke
Miami-FL+16
The Hurricanes are worth a flyer here. Miami isn't a team that will overpower you or be flashy with what they do. They love to grind games out and this is one where they can actually knock Duke off their game.
Expect them to really slow things down here, against a Duke team that has been off their game as of late.
Some trends to note. Hurricanes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.Hurricanes are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Grab the points. Back Miami.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.

Iowa State vs. Texas
Dave’s Saturday Free Play:
1* on Iowa State -1
The Key: This is a very favorable spot for the Iowa State Cyclones tonight. The Texas Longhorns are playing without their best player in Kerwin Roach II due to suspension. He averages 14.4 PPG and is irreplaceable for this team. The Longhorns were also without their 3rd-leading scorer and leading rebounder in Dylan Osetkowki (10.2 PPG, 7.7 RPG) in their last game due to having the flu, and he’s questionable to play Saturday. They just played on Wednesday and lost in overtime at Baylor, so they are working on short rest. And they shot 15-of-27 from 3-point range and still lost that game. They’re unlikely to shoot that well again against the Cyclones. Iowa State last played on Monday and has 4 days to get ready for Texas. The Longhorns are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a winning road record. Texas is 0-6 ATS after a game where it made at least 50% of its 3-point shots over the last 3 seasons. Take Iowa State.

Penn State vs. Wisconsin
1* Free NCAAB Pick on Wisconsin Badgers -7
This is an ideal spot and great value to back the Badgers at home against the Nittany Lions. We are getting a great price on Wisconsin because of how these two teams come in. Penn State has really came out of nowhere to go 5-2 SU and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games. The Badgers on the other hand have gone just 2-3 in their last 5 and are 0-4-1 ATS during this stretch.
I just think this recent run has people forgetting just how good this Wisconsin team has been at home. Badgers are 10-3 at home on the season, which includes a 4-1 run over their last 5 at home in the Big Ten. Penn State on the other hand is a mere 4-10 on the road.
Note that it wasn't even close when these two played earlier this season, as the Badgers rolled the Nittany Lions 71-52 at Penn State in early January. There's also a strong system in play going back to the recent ATS performance of both teams.
Favorites who have failed to cover the spread in 4 or more consecutive games against an opponent that has covered 4 or more consecutive games are 97-56 (63.4%) ATS going all the way back to 1997. Take Wisconsin!

Arizona vs. Oregon
Jack’s Free Pick Saturday: Oregon -4.5
The Oregon Ducks have one of the best home-court advantages in the Pac-12. They are 12-4 at home this season and outscoring opponents by 13.0 points per game. They have really played well at home of late, going 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS in their last four home games, beating ASU by 28, Stanford by 23, Cal by 11 and Washington State by 20.
Oregon didn’t even need home court to beat Arizona in their first meeting this season. The Ducks beat the Wildcats 59-54 as 5-point road underdogs. And I think they complete the season sweep here and cover this 4.55-point spread at home in the rematch as well. They have no problem kicking the Wildcats while they’re down.
Arizona head coach Sean Miller is in hot water, and it has clearly been a distraction for this team. The Wildcats have gone 3-7 SU & 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. They will be playing their 2nd road game in 3 days now after winning a 74-72 thriller at Oregon State on Thursday. They won’t be so fortunate against Oregon, which was able to rest its starters late in the 28-point home win over ASU on Thursday.
Arizona is 2-8 ATS as an underdog this season. The Wildcats are 0-8 ATS after two straight games making 78% or more of their free throws over the last two seasons. Arizona is 0-7 ATS after covering three of its last four against the spread over the last two years. Oregon is 11-0 ATS in home games off a conference home win over the last three seasons. It is winning by 22.0 points per game on average in this spot. The Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. The Ducks are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. Bet Oregon Saturday.

North Carolina-4 -110
DMack's Free Play for Saturday, March 2, 2019 in on the North Carolina Tar Heels
North Carolina is making a case to not only be a one-seed at the Dance but also a very real threat to win it all. The Heels are 13-2 in ACC play with losses to Virginia and Louisville. More importantly for our purposes, they are 7-0 on the conference road and 4-0 as a road fave. Haven't been a Clemson fan all year and the Tigers are just 1-10 L11 in the series with the win coming on this floor last year. Clemson NEVER come up big as evidenced by their 0-4 badge L4 as a home dog. Easy call on the intruder.

My free play is on the Cal Golden Bears, laying a point to the visiting Washington State Cougars.
Fresh off an upset of the No. 25 team in the country, California will continue its momentum swing into Senior Night. With the victory, Cal claimed its first conference victory of the season, and first Pac-12 win since Feb. 3, 2018. Tonight the Bears celebrate in their final home game.
And while this one is about seniors, I'll be glad to see freshman Justice Sueing continue his offensive onslaught, as he leads the team with 14.8 points per game.
Then there's Paris Austin (11.6 ppg), Darius McNeill (11.4 ppg) and Matt Bradley (10.5 ppg), who are also helping to lead the charge with double-digit scoring.
While breaking a 16-game losing streak by taking down 25th-ranked Washington, 76-73 on Thursday, the Bears converted 30 field goals with a season-best 22 assists.
Cal is an all-time 44-18 at home against Washington State, and the Cougs arrive in Berkeley after losing by 13 at Stanford. Wazzu has struggled, too, having lost 14 of its last 18.
Play the Golden Bears here.
2* CALIFORNIA

My free pick is going to be on the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, laying a cheap number against the Boise State Broncos.
It's been rare I reach out with my hometown team this season, as I've tried to leave the troubled program alone. But lately, with a pep in their step, I'm going to lean on them to get this one done on Senior Night.
Struggling Boise State arrives on a three-game road skid and four-game losing streak overall. The Broncos just lost to UNLV less than a month ago, when the Runnin' Rebels went into Boise and stole an 83-72 victory.
UNLV, which will look to avenge an 89-73 loss in Reno, has been led by Kris Clyburn, who is averaging 13.5 points and 5.3 rebounds. Tonight I expect Clyburn and company to run the offense high, given it scores 74 points per game, and 72 inside the Thomas and Mack Center.
Considering the Broncos are 0-10 when allowing 72 or more points, and this is the last home game for the Rebels, I wouldn't be surprised to see another 80-point effort against Boise State. Again, the Broncos lost its last three road games and scored just 67 points, while allowing 76.3 per contest in those games.
Lay the easy number, as UNLV rolls in its last home game before the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
5* UNLV

Oilers vs. Blue Jackets
Oilers+1½ -128
Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NHL Game #63 Saturday Free Pick Edmonton Oilers Puck Line (+1.5 goals) @ Columbus Blue Jackets @ 1:05 ET - This is truly a fantastic situational spot and, though I do expect the Oilers to get the outright upset here, I am more comfortable laying the very reasonable price (-125 range) to have Edmonton on the puck line at +1.5 goals. The added "insurance" of the +1.5 goals could come in handy should this one be another tight finish. The Blue Jackets are off a hard-fought 4-3 OT win over the division rival Flyers. Though Columbus has won 6 of their last 10 games, that was the 2nd win by just a single goal during this stretch. In other words, laying 1.5 goals with the Blue Jackets equates to a 4-6 run at the betting window. Not only is Columbus off a key win, they host a tougher team (Winnipeg) tomorrow. With the way Edmonton has struggled this season, it will not be a surprise to see the Blue Jackets overlook the Oilers in this one! Though Edmonton is just 3-3 their last 6 games, 2 of the 3 losses came by a single goal. That said, at +1.5 goals, it is a hot 5-1 run at the betting window for the Oilers in their last 6 games. This is a dangerous spot for an over-priced home favorite and I am going to take advantage with an under-valued road dog that is playing scrappy hockey right now. Free Pick EDMONTON Puck Line +1.5 goals

The 'Hogs show off a crushing loss to Kentucky 70-66, a game in which they shot 10-20 from three-ball land and still couldn't win. So, we expect a questionable approach here with the encounter at home. The Rebels are one of the best teams in the country and in the SEC, however, few give them the credit they deserve. Overall, they should win (thank you for the line movement) and cover against a unit that has lost 6 straight. Good Luck.

After a horrific start (losing to Duke by over 40 points Kentucky has really put it together going 10-3 ATS in their last 13 meetings. Tennessee it seems have lost their 'mojo' and are 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall all SEC contests but have won 24 SU at home but just 6-8-1 ATS.
