ANALYSIS: It's just so tough to be a Chicago sports fan. Our owners are the worst for one. And other than MJ's Bulls and the 1985 Bears, the teams don't take advantage of great opportunities presented. Naturally, the White Sox lost on Thursday when everything was in their favor. The SportsLine Curse is legit! At least the Sox didn't use a single reliever and Texas used a few key ones. I'm gonna play this now because I think the number is a bit low, and Dylan Cease has been the best pitcher in baseball since early June. In fact, he is the only AL pitcher in modern baseball history with consecutive months of 40+ strikeouts and a sub-1.00 ERA. He was the AL Pitcher of the Month in June and July yet wasn't an All-Star. The Rangers go with Glenn Otto, he of the 5.50 ERA overall and 7.39 at home.

ANALYSIS: My projections love the Rangers as a mid-range home underdog on Friday, as the simulations have them winning outright nearly half the time and providing massive value against the plus-money payback. The White Sox are just 8-10 in their last 18 outings as a road favorite. Although Rangers starter Glenn Otto has struggled of late, the Rangers are 2-1 behind him in his past three outings.

ANALYSIS: I was thrilled last night's game was called after 4.5 innings because Noah Syndergaard was giving me heartburn, diarrhea you name it. However, the main reason I did bet the Phillies is I thought that lineup would be so much better with Jean Segura back and Brandon Marsh's debut and it was -- even if they didn't do much. Just lengthens it. I expect another good night offensively against struggling Nats right-hander Josiah Gray, whom I believe is running out of gas having already blasted past his career high in innings. Gray was excellent in June but 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA in July. I don't really love Kyle Gibson of the Phils, although he has been good in three of his past four, so I'll be breaking out the Pepto again tonight I'm sure. Philadelphia will have its full bullpen available after not using any relievers Thursday. At less than -200, gotta do it (opened at -225).

ANALYSIS: Yes, the Cardinals just played a doubleheader today/tonight (we won on both thankfully) and the Yankees were off. However, have you seen New York against good teams lately? Hasn't been pretty for the most part. Lost two of three in Houston, two at the Mets and two of three at home vs. Seattle. Plus, NYY is 2-7 in its past nine on the road. The Cards and their great fans will be jacked up for a very rare Yanks visit, and Dakota Hudson (2.98 ERA) is simply a different pitcher at home. It's Nestor Cortes for the Bombers, and the Cardinals have been fairly dominant against lefties of late (8-3 past 11 at home). I don't care if St. Louis wins, but only -135 at home on the runline has to be played.

ANALYSIS: Even though I don't have a strong opinion, I feel we should have picks on standalone games like this and since I'm a Cubs fan let's do it ... I don't like the side either way. If I did, it would be the Marlins simply as the Cubs come off a day/night doubleheader and Miami was off Thursday. But I simply don't trust the Marlins to hit at all. Chicago is resting two of its better hitters in Seiya Suzuki and Nico Hoerner. Justin Steele has a 3.29 home ERA -- we may need a complete game out of him because the Chicago bullpen is pure gasoline. Miami has recalled Edward Cabrera to start and he has been very good in two of his three starts this year. Wind blowing in a bit. This will be a half-unit play.
