BALTIMORE @ CHI. CUBS | 07/12 | 8:05 PM EDT
BALTIMORE 100
ANALYSIS: Surprising Baltimore has won eight straight as it visits the Cubs, who have played better lately but are still 17-27 at home. Orioles starter Jordan Lyles is coming off consecutive starts in which he allowed one run, scattering nine hits over 12.1 innings while fanning 11. The Cubs counter with Adrian Sampson; he's impressed with a 2.91 ERA but this is only his fourth start this year. He'll be followed by the fifth-worst bullpen (4.45 ERA) in the majors. Look for the Orioles' Cinderella story to continue and for the Cubs to fall to 1-8 in their last nine games following an off day.

BALTIMORE @ CHI. CUBS | 07/12 | 8:05 PM EDT
BALTIMORE -1.5
ANALYSIS: My model says the Orioles cover in well over 60 percent of the simulations, so you're getting strong value with them at this number. Baltimore is riding an eight-game winning streak, its longest in a single season since 2005. Chicago, which has dropped four straight contests and six of its last eight, is 10 games under .500 at home. Baltimore RHP Jordan Lyles has allowed one run while working at least six innings in each of his last two starts, while Chicago RHP Adrian Sampson was tagged for five runs over 5 1/3 frames in his last outing at home. Take the Orioles -1.5 runs at +158.

PHILADELPHIA @ TORONTO | 07/12 | 7:07 PM EDT
TORONTO -195
ANALYSIS: The Phillies will be without regulars JT Realmuto and Alec Bohm for this series because they aren't vaccinated and are starting an opener on Tuesday in Andrew Bellatti, who has never started a game in his three MLB seasons. Then probably Mark Appel following. Remember him? Toronto's Jose Berrios is 4-0 with a 3.23 ERA at home. This is about the highest I would go on this game with the Jays having lost nine of 10, but they are generally a completely different club at home. The Phils had to play Monday and Toronto didn't, another big edge for the home side. I will say that betting this week is VERY dangerous because guys are really looking forward to a few days off during the All-Star break, but barring Kyle Schwarber/Rhys Hoskins hitting three homers, I truly can't see the Phillies taking this game. You could make an argument for the Toronto RL at +100, I simply rarely do -1.5.

CHI. WHITE SOX @ CLEVELAND | 07/12 | 1:10 PM EDT
CLEVELAND -160
ANALYSIS: Luis Robert (.283, 10 HR, 46 RBI, 11 SB) is out of the Game 1 lineup for Chicago and that's important. The Guardians appear to have the clear pitching edge with former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber (3.5, 3.44 ERA) against Triple-A callup Davis Martin (1-2, 4.29 ERA in majors). Bieber, who granted hasn't won in more than a month, beat the Pale Hose in Cleveland on April 20, allowing one run over six. He has a 2.48 ERA in 13 career starts against Chicago. The bullpens aren't close -- as a White Sox fan, their relievers make me hurl in frustration at least twice a week. Chicago is 0-4, has been outscored by a 27-9 margin and has just one home run at Progressive Field this season.

5* Los Angeles Dodgers -146 M White (RHP), M Liberatore (LHP) Must Start

The Los Angeles Dodgers take on the St Louis Cardinals in the first game of a three-game set. The Dodgers have won seven in a row and eleven of their last twelve, including a four-game sweep of the Cubs. The Dodgers will send Mitch White to the mound to battle Matthew Liberatore of the Cards. White is 1-1 this season with a 3.38 ERA in 40 innings. Matthew Liberatore is 2-1 this season with a 4.74 ERA. The Cardinals are 3-6 in their last nine games.

The Dodgers rank second in scoring and second in runs allowed. The Dodgers get it done on the mound and at the plate. St. Louis has been struggling a bit as of late, and Liberatore is young and has a daunting task in facing this offense. Take the Dodgers in this one, as I expect them to take the lead early and never look back.

Play on the LA DODGERS. This is a five* play.

4* Boston Red Sox -112 (Sale/Kluber)

The Boston Red Sox are in Cigar City playing a four-game set against the host Tampa Bay Rays. The home team had little trouble with the Red Sox in Game One, winning 10 to 5 on Monday night. We have the Red Sox in a pitching revenge situation as the Rays send Corey Kluber to the bump and his last outing was against this Red Sox team back on the 6th of this month. Kluber threw six shutout innings, giving up three hits with five strikeouts in the Rays' 7 to 1 victory over the Sox.

A database check reveals a power system that tells us to Play ON MLB favorites when seeking same-season revenge versus their opponent's starting pitcher, 771-460 SU (62.6%) (+$10,681). Kluber takes the mound with a record of 4-5 on the season and an ERA of 3.62 this season. The Red Sox will give the ball to Chris Sale, who will be making his first start of the season. Our TPR Index projects a run advantage of 1.56 runs. Our next set of metrics looks at the overall Pitcher's Power Ratings. In this game and situation, Sale has a projected rating of 114 while Kluber has a rating of 106 with a league average of 100. The SIM Matrix projects a 73.92 percent advantage for the Red Sox in tonight’s contest.

With the Sox having just seen Kluber six days ago, they should be able to take advantage of him in this situation. The Rays are struggling with injuries, and it has affected their bullpen. A quick look at the offenses we see over the last month the Rays are averaging 3.88 runs per game while the Red Sox are averaging almost five runs per game with an average of 4.92 runs per game. With solid support for the Red Sox both at the bump and the plate, we will lay the short price on Tuesday night in Cigar City as the boys from Boston even the series with a huge win tonight.

HOUSTON @ L.A. ANGELS | 07/12 | 9:38 PM EDT
HOUSTON -125
ANALYSIS: The Angels have lost nine of their last 11 games, with the only two wins coming behind Shohei Ohtani. Los Angeles RHP Noah Syndergaard gets the start and has been a money pit this season (-6.2 units) while the Angels have lost five of his last six turns. Meanwhile, the Astros have won RHP Luis Garcia’s last four starts. Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez (hand) is on the injured list, which contributes to helping keep this price cheap. Take the Astros to win.

BALTIMORE @ CHI. CUBS | 07/12 | 8:05 PM EDT
BALTIMORE 100
ANALYSIS: The Cubs were playing well, and then they got swept in a four-game series at Dodger Stadium, although they could have won each contest. Now they come home to face one of the hottest teams in the majors in Baltimore, which has won eight straight. Orioles RHP Jordan Lyles allowed only one run in each of his last two starts. I’m riding the streak until it ends. Take the Orioles to win.

SEATTLE @ WASHINGTON | 07/12 | 7:05 PM EDT
SEATTLE -105
ANALYSIS: Josiah Gray throws with extreme confidence and comes off one of his best outings of the season, but the Nationals have still lost four of his last five starts. The Nationals come in on a four-game losing streak, while the Mariners have won eight straight and have a rejuvenated Chris Flexen coming off his best game of the season. The Mariners have won his last three starts. Take the Mariners to win.

MILWAUKEE @ MINNESOTA | 07/12 | 7:40 PM EDT
MINNESOTA -145
ANALYSIS: The pitching edge goes to Minnesota here, as Josh Winder is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA over his past two starts. Milwaukee's Jason Alexander actually has pitched worse than his 4.75 ERA indicates. He was lit up by the Cubs last time out. Back the Twins to win for the fifth time in their last six home games.

SEATTLE @ WASHINGTON | 07/12 | 7:05 PM EDT
SEATTLE -110
ANALYSIS: This is a good price on the red-hot Mariners, who have won eight straight and visit a Nationals team that's dropped 10 of 11. Seattle is 11-1 since acquiring Carlos Santana from the Royals; on Sunday, he has a 1.111 OPS this month as the trade has rejuvenated the 36-year-old first baseman. Seattle starter Chris Flexen was dominant in his last outing, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings at San Diego with eight strikeouts. He's notched a win in three straight starts. Back Seattle to stay hot.

SEATTLE @ WASHINGTON | 07/12 | 7:05 PM EDT
SEATTLE -105
ANALYSIS: The Mariners are the much better team here and are riding the hot hand. They've won eight in a row, 11 of 12 and 16 of 19. They head out on the road for this series, sure, but they've won seven of their last eight games on the road. Jesse Winker returns to the lineup from his suspension, too. Nationals starter Josiah Gray has been very good of late, but he isn't a treat to work into the late innings and the Nationals rank 25th in bullpen ERA this season. On the flip-side, the Mariners have an excellent back-end relief corps (Paul Sewald, Penn Murfee, Andres Munoz, Diego Castillo and Erik Swanson) that got a day of rest on Monday. It might happen late, but the Mariners will extend the winning streak.

BALTIMORE @ CHI. CUBS | 07/12 | 8:05 PM EDT
BALTIMORE 105
ANALYSIS: Orioles starter Jordan Lyles is the ace of the Baltimore staff right now. His last four starts have all been above-average, throwing 25 2/3 innings, allowing 20 hits and eight earned runs for an ERA of 2.81. Baltimore was playing .500 baseball for 22 games before its winning streak while the Cubs are 11-19 their last 30 games. Chicago starter Adrian Sampson is an average big league pitcher with average stuff.

PITTSBURGH @ MIAMI | 07/12 | 6:40 PM EDT
MIAMI -155
ANALYSIS: The Pirates have won three consecutive road games, including yesterday’s 5-1 victory over the Marlins. On Tuesday, I expect the Marlins to look much better as they looked flat Monday after a stretch of 11 road games since June 27. They’ll see a bevy of Pirates pitchers as Chris Stratton is likely going to pitch only an inning or two. Take the Marlins.

ANALYSIS: I expect the Brewers to continue to hit a Twins bullpen that struggled immensely against the Rangers. I'm taking Milwaukee to win the first game of this two-game series.
