CHI. CUBS @ MILWAUKEE | 07/05 | 8:10 PM EDT
MILWAUKEE -140
ANALYSIS: My model says the Brewers win in almost 70 percent of the simulations, so you're getting strong value with them at this number. Milwaukee has won three of four at home against Chicago this season, outscoring the Cubs 25-6 in those four contests. The Brewers have won seven of nine overall, while Chicago has dropped two straight following a season high-tying four-game winning streak. Expect the skid to continue.

L.A. ANGELS @ MIAMI | 07/05 | 6:40 PM EDT
MIAMI -145
ANALYSIS: The Marlins return home after closing their road trip with five straight wins, most coming in dramatic fashion. Miami finished off a sweep of Washington on Monday despite resting some key regulars. The Marlins have won seven of their last nine home games and send ace Sandy Alcantara against the Angels, who are 16-21 on the road. Alcantara (8-3, 1.95 ERA) has been even better at home with a 1.80 ERA and is coming off a complete-game victory over the Cardinals. Some might worry that he threw 117 pitches, but he had an extra day of rest. The Angels struck out 48 times in getting swept by Houston over the weekend, with Mike Trout going 0 for 11 with nine strikeouts.

Rotation #913-914
Rangers/Orioles Over 9.5 runs
Howard/Voth
Last night’s game was a thriller regarding walks and pitchers hitting batters. Texas had the game in the bag and blew it. Tonight the Rangers get a chance for redemption with Austin Voth on the mound for Baltimore. Voth is a poor MLB pitcher who walks a lot of batters. On the other side, Spencer Howard might be worse. Both pitchers do not belong at this stage yet. Look for many runs on a hot and humid day with some wet conditions. Take the Over.

L.A. ANGELS @ MIAMI | 07/05 | 6:40 PM EDT
MIAMI -145
ANALYSIS: I think Sandy Alcantara is my favorite starter in MLB, and part of that can be attributed to Marlins manager Don Mattingly bucking the system. Alcantara has all the numbers and stats as a traditional ace, but what I love the most is that he’s allowed to finish his own mess at the end of games regardless of pitch count. He has two complete games, which is twice as many as any other starter in the majors. The Marlins have won five straight, and the Angels have lost three straight. Marlins win.

SEATTLE @ SAN DIEGO | 07/05 | 4:10 PM EDT
SEATTLE 118
ANALYSIS: I love this situation with the Padres having lost seven of their last nine games and the Mariners riding a three-game winning streak. San Diego has won all six of RHP Mike Clevinger’s starts, but he doesn’t last too long and has earned only two decisions. Seattle RHP Logan Gilbert has been the team's lucky charm all season, winning nine of his 12 starts. The bonus is getting plus-money on the Mariners. Take Seattle to win.

KANSAS CITY 205
ANALYSIS: The Royals have won three of their last five games and lost last night on a walk-off homer, 7-6. The Astros have won seven straight. But I’m riding Zack Grienke today. He's looked great in his last two starts since coming off the injured list. Both resulted in Royals wins and he allowed just one run in each of those outings. The last time Luis Garcia faced Kansas City on June 4, the Royals won 6-0. Royals to win.

N.Y. YANKEES @ PITTSBURGH | 07/05 | 7:05 PM EDT
N.Y. YANKEES -195
ANALYSIS: Sportsbooks can be very weird/different, which I've noted many times previously both on here and Twitter. DraftKings opened this yesterday afternoon at -165 (where it stayed for about 30 minutes) while Caesars opened it at -235. Why it's always wise to shop around. Both have it in the -195 ballpark now. We will use the Caesars line, and I think I have to jump now that it's under -200 because I don't think it should be under that number -- not a big runline guy in terms of giving +1.5, especially to a home team. I would go meatballs (underrated Bill Murray movie from yesteryear; Spaz deserved his own spin-off) if the Bucs hit a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth to only lose by one run tonight. This will matter quite a bit to Yanks starter Jameson Taillon as he was the second overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft by Pittsburgh, debuted with the team in 2016 and was traded to New York before the 2021 season. Taillon (9-1, 3.32 ERA) has been better on the road with a 2.70 ERA. Pittsburgh's Jose Quintana (1-4, 3.43 ERA) is decent enough to where I don't think this will be a blowout but I will be surprised if NYY loses.

SEATTLE @ SAN DIEGO | 07/05 | 4:10 PM EDT
SEATTLE 122
ANALYSIS: The Mariners have sneakily been playing much better on the road lately as they are 9-2 on the road in their past 29 games compared to 8-10 at home. They have now won three games in a row and they are just 2 games below .500. The Padres have actually done the opposite, they are much better on the road, they are just 21-17 at home this season. Logan Gilbert is starting today and he is also actually better on the road at 5-1 with a 2.55 ERA. He has yet to allow more than four runs or pitch fewer than five innings in a start this season. Mike Clevinger has pitched well but he doesn’t get deep into the game. The Padres bullpen has actually been the 7th best in the league in the past 30 days, the Mariners have actually been the third best during the same stretch though. I like the value on the Mariners on the road.

MIAMI -145
ANALYSIS: The Marlins just pulled off the four-game sweep on the road and now they head home where they are much better on the season at 19-16. They face off in an interleague matchup against the Angels. The Angels were just swept by the Astros, and they are 10-17 in their past 27 games. They are also 16-21 on the road. Sandy Alcantara is starting for the Marlins, and he has been one of the best pitchers in the league. The Marlins should have their bullpen back and available to pitch after him as well, after most of them were unavailable yesterday. I like the Marlins to stay hot.

WASHINGTON @ PHILADELPHIA | 07/05 | 7:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -165
ANALYSIS: The Phillies are 18-9 in their past 27 games and a decent amount of those are without Bryce Harper. The Nats are 9-18 in their past 27 games and they were just swept at home in four games by the Marlins. Cristopher Sanchez should be opening for the Phillies and they will have a bullpen game with the Ranger Suarez injury. Their bullpen has actually been very good lately, they are ranked 13th in the league in bullpen ERA in the past 30 days. The Nats are ranked 21st in that same span. Paolo Espino has been good but he has yet to pick up a win and he’s been showing cracks lately. I like the Phillies at home.
