EDMONTON @ CALGARY | 05/26 | 9:30 PM EDT
CALGARY -145
ANALYSIS: The Flames return home on a three-game losing skid, despite out-shooting Edmonton 32-26 on Tuesday. Calgary owns a +104 shot differential in these playoffs, while the Oilers are -24. The Flames have allowed 304 shots in 10 postseason games, while Edmonton has surrendered 358 in that same time span. These teams are big time rivals. Playing the same opponent four games in a row benefits the home team, who can match-up last. The Flames are 5-0 in their past five after allowing five or more goals in their previous game. Take the home team to force a game six!

N.Y. RANGERS @ CAROLINA | 05/26 | 7:00 PM EDT
CAROLINA -145
ANALYSIS: The Hurricanes return home with the series tied at two games apiece. Carolina out-shot New York in both road games, while winning 59% of the face-offs in Game 3 and 65% in Game 4. In fact, New York is ranked last in shots allowed and last in face-off win percentage across all playoff teams. Carolina is 8-3 after losing two or more games in a row this season, and 7-3 in their past 10 games vs. the Rangers. The Hurricanes were -175 by opening face-off in Game 1. Good value. Take the home team!

EDMONTON @ CALGARY | 05/26 | 9:30 PM EDT
CALGARY -145
ANALYSIS: Here's another one where I'd like to take the +1.5 puckline, but the books are vastly overpricing it. I do think there were some good signs for the Flames and netminder Jacob Markstrom in rallying from a 3-0 deficit in Game 4 on Tuesday only to lose 5-3. The return of defenseman Chris Tanev from injury also was a boost. He had an assist and one blocked shot in 19:24 of ice time. Calgary outshot Edmonton and dominated the faceoff circle. Do that again Thursday at home, and the Flames should keep their season alive.

N.Y. RANGERS @ CAROLINA | 05/26 | 7:00 PM EDT
CAROLINA -145
ANALYSIS: I'd like to take the Rangers puckline for Thursday's game but not at -230. It's crazy how bad the Canes have been on the road in these playoffs. They have joined the 1992 Canadiens and 1976 Maple Leafs as the only teams to start the playoffs with five straight road losses. Yet Carolina is unbeaten at home, and Antti Raanta has been almost untouchable there. Have to stay with the trend. New York is 0-5 in its past five as an underdog.

CHI. CUBS @ CINCINNATI | 05/26 | 12:35 PM EDT
UNDER 8.5
ANALYSIS: With the Cubs playing this afternoon, I have to have an opinion -- although do note this may get rained out. I don't really have a lean on the side, but the winds are blowing in today about 12 mph from right field so we'll lean the Under 8.5 runs because both starting pitchers can dominate. Chicago's Justin Steele has allowed two earned or fewer in four straight (also 1.89 ERA in day games this year), and Reds rookie Hunter Greene is now showing why he was such a touted prospect with four earned allowed and 21 strikeouts over his past three (see news story). Yep, I do worry about the Cincinnati bullpen behind him.

MILWAUKEE @ ST. LOUIS | 05/26 | 7:45 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -123
ANALYSIS: Can't say I like a lot on the board today, but it is getaway day for some teams so that may change lineup-wise. Don't really need to see lineups here as just about everything points to the Cardinals: They are obviously home and were off Wednesday, while the Brewers didn't arrive in the STL until late Wednesday night after playing in San Diego. I faded Milwaukee yesterday (didn't work out, but I blame Padres manager Bob Melvin for leaving Yu Darvish in too long) in part because All-Star closer Josh Hader and a few regulars were out, and that I didn't think the club's second-best reliever, Devin Williams, would be available after pitching the previous two games. Well, he did pitch. There's no way he will go a fourth straight night -- still not clear if Hader will return. Milwaukee's Eric Lauer is an excellent starting pitcher, but Adam Wainwright is usually money at home for the Cards. Note that rain may be a factor.

MILWAUKEE @ ST. LOUIS | 05/26 | 7:45 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -125
ANALYSIS: The Brewers are still missing key players in Hunter Renfroe and Willy Adames and they might still be without Josh Hader on the family emergency list. Cardinals are coming off the off day and have their full bullpen available behind Wainwright who is very good at home. Im actually a big Eric Lauer fan but the Cardinals absolutely crush even the toughest lefties as we saw by their performance against Carlos Rodon. Devin Williams has pitched three straight days as the Brewers acting closer so he will be unavailable tonight. Take the Cardinals at home.

N.Y. RANGERS @ CAROLINA | 05/26 | 7:00 PM EDT
CAROLINA -150
ANALYSIS: The Canes are a completely different team at home, and luckily for them, the Rangers are a completely different team on the road. Only winning at home is a dangerous game because you lose a road game and all of a sudden you lose a series. However, the Canes are the better team, and they should get back to form on home ice. Being at home also helps the backup goalie for the Canes settle down. This is playoff hockey so literally anything can happen, and I wouldn’t be surprised. But the Canes should keep this home winning streak intact, and I think this line will rise a bit tomorrow, so I am playing it now.

CHI. CUBS @ CINCINNATI | 05/26 | 12:35 PM EDT
CHI. CUBS -120
ANALYSIS: Unfortunately, this is the only day game today despite it being a Thursday, and unfortunately there is rain in the forecast so it might not even get played. However, I will still make this play in case it gets played. I heard a stat about Justin Steele a few days ago that perplexed me and I swore, under the right circumstances, I would back him next start. Well, were getting the right circumstances. But that stat is Justin Steele has allowed just 1 barrel all season. So essentially, opposing batters have squared up just one of his pitches in 33 innings pitched this season. He does get into trouble with walks and that’s really my only concern today, but he has also pitched back to back quality starts. The Reds also struggle against lefties. Hunter Greene has pitched very well in his last two starts but he is still a rookie, he will struggle with consistency. The Cubs have been hitting lately and they add Willson Contreras and Nico Hoerner back to the lineup today. Take the Cubs on the road.
