ANALYSIS: How freaking fun was that 9-6 Calgary victory in Game 1 of the Battle of Alberta? I don't need a ton of goals to enjoy playoff hockey -- although the constant 1-nil scores in soccer are why I pass on that sport -- but that was truly thrilling to watch. It was the ninth postseason game all-time with at least 15 goals and first since 1993. I want to take Edmonton at -170 on the puckline for Game 2, I really do, as I expect a much different game ... I just can't because of goaltender Mike Smith. We told you we liked the Flames in the opener because Jacob Markstrom > Smith and nothing has changed there. I'm assuming Smith will start Game 2 and even if it's Mikko Koskinen, I'm still backing Calgary at home -- the home team has won six straight in the series. I will say if this total gets to 7 that I'm going Under.

ANALYSIS: Tarik Skubal has Cy Young Award-worthy stuff. He's getting swings and misses on multiple pitches and is should be quite confident coming off an 11-strikeout outing. Aaron Civale might be headed to the minors if he keeps this up for the Guardians. 16 XBH in under 25 IP? A whip of 1.74? Even Detroit's lineup can feast on that. Tigers to win.
