We saw these teams play three games in Cincinnati last week and all three went over. In the first game of that series, we saw this exact pitching matchup with Connor Overton and JT Brubaker that ended the Reds' long losing streak with a nine-run game. The Reds have since scored a total of 40 runs in their five most recent games. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh allow their opponents more runs than any other teams in the league, so I'll take this over eight at a nice +105. +941 18-7-2 IN LAST 27 MLB PICKS __________________ Matt Severance PHILADELPHIA @ L.A. DODGERS | 05/12 | 10:10 PM EDT L.A. DODGERS -140 ANALYSIS: I think the Dodgers lost their focus a bit early this week in Pittsburgh in losing two of three -- so the Phillies should have their full attention starting Thursday night. We are getting a pretty cheap price on LA at home because it's 2021 Cy Young runner-up Zack Wheeler on the mound for the Phils. After a slow start, he has returned to form in his past two, but those were both at home against lousy offenses. Tyler Anderson (3-0, 2.78) has been very good for the Dodgers, holding opponents to a .205 average in 22.2 innings. We have to take LA (10-2 at home) at this price as it probably will go up. TORONTO @ TAMPA BAY | 05/12 | 7:30 PM EDT TAMPA BAY -130 ANALYSIS: The teams have alternated wins thus far, although the champs had the Leafs on the ropes early in Game 5 in Toronto but let them off and lost a chance to clinch at home Thursday. Are you aware Tampa Bay has won 16 consecutive playoff games following a loss? Just incredible. I so badly want to see a Game 7 in this series anyways. CAROLINA @ BOSTON | 05/12 | 7:00 PM EDT BOSTON -128 ANALYSIS: All the models seem to like Carolina, but the home team has utterly dominated every game of this series and Boston having the last line change tonight is huge because the trio of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron was spectacular in two games in Beantown but did little in the three in North Carolina. Boston's defense will be whole for the first time since Game 2 with Hampus Lindholm set to return after being injured in that one. I'd love to take the Carolina puckline but not at -240. __________________ |

MLB Underdog Game of the Week NYY __________________ newworldinsiders HEARTLAND INSIDER: Orioles +1.5 __________________ Goodfella NBA 3 Heat +3 __________________ Matt Severance N.Y. METS @ WASHINGTON | 05/12 | 1:05 PM EDT N.Y. METS -158 ANALYSIS: Washington upset the Mets and had-been-excellent pitcher Tylor Megill on Wednesday in a blowout. Taijuan Walker isn't as good as Megill, but I still like New York against the Nats' Joan Adon (1-5, 6.99). He allowed four runs over 4.1 innings vs. New York in his season debut April 9. This will be Walker's first look at team other than Philadelphia this season. I don't really trust him that much, but the Mets have a strong bullpen and didn't use anyone noteworthy Wednesday so Walker may have a short leash. The Mets are 10-1 in their last 11 games following a loss. __________________ John Bollman CINCINNATI @ PITTSBURGH | 05/12 | 6:35 PM EDT OVER 8 ANALYSIS: I might be a little late on this Reds over trend but with their bats heating up, I see no reason not to ride it. They have the worst bullpen in the league, and when you combine that with the 6th best wOBA in the league against righties in the past two weeks, you’ll get runs. Connor Overton pitched really well in his first two starts but he faced the Pirates lineup five days ago and that gives the advantage to the hitters. JT Brubaker pitched well against the Reds last time around too but the Reds hitters get a second look at him in a week. The Pirates also have the fifth worst bullpen in the league. Take the over. N.Y. METS @ WASHINGTON | 05/12 | 1:05 PM EDT WASHINGTON 140 ANALYSIS: I wanted to wait until lineups were out to see if the Nats were gonna continue to roll with their righty-crushing lineup, and they are. The Nats dominated Tylor Megill yesterday and they get Taijuan Walker today who is coming off a brutal outing against the Phillies. The Nats also have the 3rd highest wOBA in the past three weeks against righties to catapult them into 9th in the league overall against righties. The Nats also could have won Game 1 had it not been for a couple mental mistakes or a big hit, I like the value in the Nats against a righty right now. PHILADELPHIA @ L.A. DODGERS | 05/12 | 10:10 PM EDT L.A. DODGERS -140 ANALYSIS: I am kicking myself for not playing the Pirates yesterday as the Dodgers seemed like they were affected by the East Coast travel. They head home to the West Coast today, and as I have mentioned before, I feel like teams tend to be fine in the first game changing time zones then it is the next game where it really hits the players. Tyler Anderson also most likely traveled back to the West Coast before the rest of the team. The Phillies have been good against lefties this season ranked 7th in the league in wOBA against lefties. However, it is very important to check the most recent two weeks as well. In the past two weeks, the Phillies are ranked 4th worst in the league in wOBA against lefties. Zach Wheeler was hit hard in his only road start of the season, take the Dodgers at home. TORONTO @ TAMPA BAY | 05/12 | 7:30 PM EDT TAMPA BAY -135 ANALYSIS: The Lightning have been money following a loss the past few postseasons and I don’t think they’ll go out at home after their run the last two seasons. The Maple Leafs have had trouble closing out teams in the past as they have yet to win a series in the Auston Matthews era. This could finally be their year to advance, but I don’t think they do it on the road. I like the Lightning at home coming off a loss. |

LOUIS | 05/12 | 1:15 PM EDT OVER 8.5 ANALYSIS: The Cardinals are starting lefty, Steven Matz who has been incredibly inconsistent in his starts thus far. For the Orioles, Bryan Baker is expected to open for another left-handed relief pitcher, Keegan Akin. The Cards scored 11 runs on the Orioles yesterday. St. Louis has the highest OPS in the league against lefties, so Akin should present another opportunity for a high-scoring game. Despite the Orioles' offensive struggles, Matz has struggled at home and should be good for a couple runs. Take the over in this early game. |

LOUIS | 05/12 | 9:30 PM EDT ST. LOUIS -110 ANALYSIS: Stayed away from this series for the most part because the teams in my mind are so evenly matched. However, I will take the Blues at home to close things out because I believe Wild coach Dean Evason is making a mistake going with Cam Talbot in net for the first time in this series. Granted, Marc-Andre Fleury hasn't been great of late but is more proven in the playoffs over his career. Hey, I only played goalie on a pond in Michigan, but I would imagine Talbot would be a bit "off" having not seen game action since April 28. His road GAA during the season was .35 worse than at home. Love to take the Wild puckline, but -260 is stupid. Thoughts/questions? Twitter: @jordanpaytonsn1 __________________ Zack Cimini PHILADELPHIA @ L.A. DODGERS | 05/12 | 10:10 PM EDT L.A. DODGERS -145 ANALYSIS: Despite returning from an East Coast road trip and despite pitcher Tyler Anderson not throwing more than 80 pitches in a game this season, I expect the Dodgers to hit Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler hard. I'm on L.A. N.Y. YANKEES @ CHI. WHITE SOX | 05/12 | 8:10 PM EDT CHI. WHITE SOX -149 ANALYSIS: Both teams come in red-hot, as each has won eight of its last 10 games. Chicago's recent stretch has been led by dominant pitching. All eight of the team's wins have come with four or fewer runs scored. I expect the White Sox bats to break out against inexperienced Yankees pitcher in Luis Gil. I'm on Chicago. +1220 16-4 IN LAST 20 MLB ML PICKS MIAMI @ PHILADELPHIA | 05/12 | 7:00 PM EDT PHILADELPHIA -2 ANALYSIS: With their backs against the wall, the 76ers must find a way to stave off elimination. In Game 5 they had no answer for the Heat’s intensity. Yet, this series has shown us that the home team has a big edge. Take Philadelphia as it regroups in front of the home crowd and forces a Game 7. +1110 21-9 IN LAST 30 NBA ATS PICKS __________________ Jeff Hochman TORONTO @ TAMPA BAY | 05/12 | 7:30 PM EDT TORONTO 115 ANALYSIS: It seems too easy just to take the Lightning after a loss. The Maple Leafs are the faster team, so let's take them to end the series. Tampa Bay looks gassed after playing all those games over the past three seasons. Take the road team. +318 5-2 IN LAST 7 NHL PICKS |
