5%- Tampa Bay Rays -138 S Mcclanahan (LHP), K Hendricks (RHP) Must Start

The Rays travel to Chicago for some interleague play against the Chicago Cubs who are in the middle of a rebuild after shipping out Rizzo, Bryant and Baez last season. I think the Cubs have one of the weaker batting lineups in the majors, this is a team last year that finished in the bottom 10 in the majors in average and runs. This weak lineup will have trouble against a young pitcher who had a very solid debut season for the Rays in Shane McClanahan. McClanahan last year pitched in 25 games with a solid 10-6 record and a 3.43 era. Through two games so far he’s pitched 9 innings giving up 4 earned runs. Kyle Hendricks starts for Chicago, and took a huge step back last season after being a pretty solid career pitcher for the Cubs. Last season Hendricks had a terrible 4.55 earned run average and will likely continue that trend this season. Hendricks has also pitched 9 innings in his first 2 starts of the season giving up 7 earned runs, including giving up 9 of them against a weak Pirates team in his last game. The Rays are a very gritty team that just finds a way to win baseball games and will have an easy time against Hendricks on the mound. The Rays aren’t particularly great at anything on the diamond, but their strong defence and solid offence have seen them come first in the best division in baseball the last 2 seasons, and win the ALCS in 2020. The better team with better pitching will win this one.

TORONTO @ PHILADELPHIA | 04/18 | 7:30 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -286
ANALYSIS: I will play this with something Monday TBA but wanted to get this in before -300 as the Raptors are listing starters Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent and reserve Thad Young as doubtful with various ailments. Can't imagine Toronto can win on the road without those guys.

DALLAS @ VANCOUVER | 04/18 | 10:30 PM EDT
VANCOUVER -105
ANALYSIS: My model says the Canucks win in more than 60 percent of the simulations, so you're getting strong value with them at this number. Vancouver is riding a five-game winning streak during which it has outscored its opponents by a 26-9 margin. J.T. Miller has set personal bests with 29 goals, 62 assists and 91 points this season and leads the Canucks in each of the last two categories. Miller is coming off a career-best five-assist performance against Arizona on Thursday and has notched 18 points in his last 12 contests. Dallas was outscored 10-4 while losing the first two meetings of 2021-22. Take Vancouver.

L.A. ANGELS @ HOUSTON | 04/18 | 8:10 PM EDT
HOUSTON -160
ANALYSIS: This may only go up tomorrow if/when Mike Trout is ruled out for the Halos. He was hit on the hand Sunday and had to leave. X-rays were negative, but I'd think he would at least get Monday off. Meanwhile, the Astros are expected to activate DH Yordan Alvarez from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of the game. Last year, he hit .364 against Angels pitching. Stros starting pitcher Luis Garcia makes his 2022 home debut and had a 2.39 ERA there last year.

PHILADELPHIA @ COLORADO | 04/18 | 8:40 PM EDT
COLORADO +1.5
ANALYSIS: Getting Colorado at just -109 on the runline is almost stealing in my opinion. Phils starting pitcher Aaron Nola has a 6.75 ERA in the early going and this is his road debut. He had a 5.27 ERA away in 2021. Charlie Blackmon and Kris Bryant both have good splits off him. Colorado's Chad Kuhl was solid in his season debut in Texas and much better at home last year with a 2.41 ERA. Philly has won only two of its past 11 in Denver.

ATLANTA @ L.A. DODGERS | 04/18 | 10:10 PM EDT
L.A. DODGERS -1.5
ANALYSIS: This is a pitching mismatch on paper. Clayton Kershaw was perfect through seven innings last time out for the Dodgers. Huascar Ynoa finished 2021 struggling for Atlanta and started that way this year too, giving up five earned runs in three innings in his first start. The Dodgers have won six straight, and they've been winning big, outscoring opponents 40-9 during that stretch. Ride the hot hand here and go -1.5 on the run line (+100).

L.A. ANGELS @ HOUSTON | 04/18 | 8:10 PM EDT
HOUSTON -160
ANALYSIS: Last home opener in MLB is in Houston tonight. Both teams will be missing key players, Angels should be without Trout, Astros should be without Ryan Pressly who is on the IL. Yordan Alvarez is also expected to be back for this game as well. Michael Lorenzen was very good in his debut but that was against the Marlins. Luis Garcia only allowed 2 hits in 4 IP in his first start. He was also much better at home last season at 6-5 with a 2.73 ERA. Garcia didn’t pitch too well against the Angels last season, but he did improve against them as the season went along. The Astros were 7-3 at home against the Angels last season and they are 16-7 against them in their last 23 games overall. Take the Astros at home.

PHILADELPHIA @ COLORADO | 04/18 | 8:40 PM EDT
COLORADO 140
ANALYSIS: Aaron Nola struggled in his first two starts this season and now he heads to the thin air of Coors Field. He actually hasn’t really struggled at Coors in his minimal experience there, but he hasn’t exactly been dominant either. The Rockies were 48-33 at home last season and they’ve started this season 6-3 overall. The Phillies struggled on the road last season at 35-46 and they just lost 3 of 4 in Miami. Chad Kuhl pitched at Coors Field last season and wasn’t great but wasn’t terrible. This type of game could play right into the big bats of the Phillies, but they also have a couple guys not hitting right now. The Rockies were 5-2 against the Phillies last season, I like the value on the home team here.

CHI. WHITE SOX @ CLEVELAND | 04/18 | 6:10 PM EDT
CLEVELAND -135
ANALYSIS: Shane Bieber has very good history against the White Sox, pitching well against them last season when he was healthy. Dallas Keuchel didn’t pitch very well against the Guardians last season, and he didn’t pitch particularly well in his first start this season either. The Guardians have struggled against lefties their last two times, but they had been hitting them well before that. The Guardians were also 4-5 at home against the White Sox last season and 9-10 overall. The White Sox were just 40-41 on the road last season, I like the Guardians at home.

L.A. ANGELS @ HOUSTON | 04/18 | 8:10 PM EDT
L.A. ANGELS 130
ANALYSIS: The Angels' Michael Lorenzen looked amazing against a weak Marlins lineup in his first start, allowing two hits and one run in six innings while striking out seven and walking none. I love that stat line. The Astros' Luis Garcia didn’t allow a run in four innings against Arizona's awful lineup. Mike Trout (hand) may miss the game, but I'm on the Angels because of their momentum. They’ve won three straight and five of their last six, hitting homers regularly. The Astros are in a scoring drought. Angels to win.

SAN FRANCISCO @ N.Y. METS | 04/18 | 7:10 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO 100
ANALYSIS: Both starting rotations have been dominant, and the Giants are in the midst of a five-game winning streak, which is part of why I'm riding them. They went into Cleveland over the weekend and allowed a total of only four runs during a three-game sweep for their first three road victories of the season. The Mets' rotation rarely allows a run and Tylor Megill hasn't given up any in two starts. San Francisco's Alex Cobb looked unhittable last time out, striking out 10 Padres over five innings in his first start. Take the Giants to win.

TORONTO @ PHILADELPHIA | 04/18 | 7:30 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -7.5
ANALYSIS: Joel Embiid scored 19 points on 5-for-15 shooting from the field in Game 1, yet, the 76ers won by 20 points. If you had told me Embiid finished with that stat line, I would have been surprised that they even won the game, let alone by 20 points. They earned the blowout because of Tyrese Maxey, who scored 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting. While it will be unlikely that he replicates that, it will also be unlikely that Embiid will perform so poorly in the scoring department again. Add in Scottie Barnes (ankle) and Gary Trent Jr. (illness) being unlikely to play for the Raptors and another blowout could be coming.

PHILADELPHIA @ COLORADO | 04/18 | 8:40 PM EDT
COLORADO 140
ANALYSIS: The Phillies started out 2-0, but they've gone 2-6 since then and in one of those games the Mets bullpen essentially handed it to them. To get these sort of underdogs for the Rockies at home, too, is just too good to pass up. They were 48-33 last season at home and have already taken a series from the Dodgers in Coors (the Dodgers are 6-0 when they don't play in Coors so far this year, FYI). Phillies starter Aaron Nola is far too inconsistent to trust here, nor should the bullpen be trusted. Love the Rockies' value here.

L.A. ANGELS @ HOUSTON | 04/18 | 8:10 PM EDT
HOUSTON -149
ANALYSIS: It was a mixed bag of a road trip for the Astros, but the bottom line is they went 5-4 and now they finally get to play a home game. They opened the season by taking three of four from the Angels in Anaheim while outscoring the Halos 20-10. The Angels have won five of six, but it was against the Marlins and Rangers. Plus, they'll be without Mike Trout in this one. Astros starter Luis Garcia was about a run and a half better at home last season (2.73 ERA at home; 4.24 on the road), too.

WASHINGTON @ COLORADO | 04/18 | 9:00 PM EDT
WASHINGTON +1.5
ANALYSIS: Obviously tough to go against the Avalanche at home, where they are nearly invincible, and the team is on a nine-game winning streak overall. However, the Avs are down several key guys tonight in Gabriel Landeskog, Nazem Kadri, Andrew Cogliano and defensemen Erik Johnson and Devon Toews. The Capitals are playing really well, have been great on the road all year, and certainly will be fired up for this potential Stanley Cup preview. Washington at -140 on the PL is simply way better value than the Avs at -205 on the ML because the Caps can win this game. Just get me to OT ...
