German Marquez takes the mound for the Rockies tonight as they host the Miami Marlins for the first game of a 3 game weekend set. On the opposing mound we have Sandy Alcantara, a pitcher we have backed with regularity, but does not sit in an ideal spot tonight against a hot Rockies team playing with confidence at home!
The Rockies are not often favored in 2021, but when they are, they are for a REASON! They are 18-5 SU as home chalk on the season with an average line of -130, limiting the situation to being favored -130 or bigger...the Rockies are 9-2 SU! This is not a terrible price here to get Marquez, easily the best Colorado starter this season...as well as being a starter extremely comfortable at home in the "hitters" ballpark of Coors! The Rockies are 10-3 since 2019 as a home favorite of -150 or greater with Marquez on the mound, including 3-1 this season...AND are off the only loss this season against the Mariners the last time out!
This version of the Marlins is NOT the Mariners, nor are they a lineup that instills a ton of confidence after shipping out important pieces like Marte and Duvall, as well as the injury to Cooper. The team is 5-10 in Alcantara starts this season outside the division, and the average scoring just 3.14 runs per game...and...
The pièce de résistance...the Fish are just 1-7 this season SU on the road traveling for the opening game against an opponent after playing at home!

Cleveland has been one of the hottest teams at home, and coming off a shutout L, the Indians are in the perfect place to bounce back. Talk about a familiar foe, the Indians are 26-4 in the L30 games vs. the Tigers in Cleveland, including 8-1 in the L9 H2H!! Cleveland is also 6-0 after being shutout this year, 9-2 in the first game of a series off a L (8-1 in the L9, 7.11 AF ; 3.33 AA), 7-2 in the L9 after allowing 3 runs or less in a L, 6-0 after 3 or less hits in a game, 8-3 @ H after leading 0 innings in the previous game, and 6-1 in the L7 after allowing 5 or less hits in a L, talk about being able to bounce back! The pitching match-up is another thing in itself that benefits CLE in this game, Quantrill is 2-2 TY with a 3.40 ERA and he has pitched 3 consecutive quality starts, posting a 1.00 ERA in the L3 starts, a 3.22 ERA @ H (15 games/7 starts), and in his 6 starts s/ July 1st, Quantrill is 2-0 w/ a 2.36 ERA, allowing only 9 runs in 6 starts. Cleveland pitching is 5-1 after the starter had B2B2B quality starts, they are also 9-3 @ H vs. a RHP w/ ERA > 5.00 (including 7-0 as a HF!). Detroit on the other hand has Manning on the mound, on the year Manning is 2-4 with a 5.59 ERA & 1.45 WHIP, on the road he is 0-3 w/ a 8.20 ERA (4 ST)!! Pitching at night isn\'t much better, Manning is 1-4 w/ a 5.93 ERA (6 ST), Detroit is also 0-4 in his 4 away starts. The Tigers are also 6-11 in the first game of a series on the road, 5-12 in the FGS vs. the division (3-6 A), and they are 2-7 on the road in the first game of a series off a W. Detroit has also struggled drastically on the road, going 2-9 vs. the division, 5-13 in the L18, 4-9 on the road vs. a team that is ≥ 55% home win percentage, and they are 19-33 on the road this year as a whole!!

The Twins are also on a 213-171-19 run on the road, including 36-17-1 on the road TY, and going 14-7 on the road in the L21 non-division games. Minnesota is also 7-1 over in the L8, and they are 15-6-1 in the L22 on the road when the total is ≥ 9, including 11-3-1 as an AD w/ a total ≥ 9. This Houston team, playing behind Greinke is 13-5 over in his L18 starts, including 8-3 in his L11 @ H, and 7-2 in his L9 as a HF. The Astros are also is 7-3-1 OU in the L11 @ H, and 16-8 @ H w/ a total ≥ 9, regardless of the pitching match-up.
