DENVER +1
UTAH @ DENVER | 9/01 | 8:30 PM EDT
With their backs up against the wall, the Nuggets have won two straight over the Jazz to force a deciding Game 7 in this Western Conference first-round series Tuesday. Jamal Murray has put Denver on his back, scoring at least 42 points in three straight games. While Donovan Mitchell has been almost as special for Utah, the Nuggets have the momentum and I thought that they were the better team heading into the series. I’ll take them to make it three straight wins to advance to the second round.

3 Unit Play. Take #922 Houston -145 RL over Texas (6:40 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1)

Houston did not make any moves at the trade deadline, satisfied the injured players they have coming back can get them into the postseason. The Astros continue to be nearly unbeatable at home where they are 14-5 and where they have beaten their in-state rivals 12 of 18 times. Texas has baseball's worst offense at 3.6 RPG and is a disastrous 3-11 on the road. And in the Rangers last seven contests, they are averaging a mere 2.9 RPG. For the Run Line, a team with a slugging percentage under.400, against a starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.3 or lower, batting .215 or worse over their last 15 games, are 10-54 the last few seasons and losing by 2 RPG.
I'm getting back to winning ways with two straight winning days and going for a third on Tuesday. Also, check out my 6-Unit NBA Best Bet today and I have a hockey 2-Pack and I'm on a 22-5 run with the pucks.

7-Unit Play: Take 724 Raptors -120 (ML) over Celtics (5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1)

I'm laying the money line with the Raptors on Tuesday. We had Boston on these pages in game 1 and rode the Celtics to an easy win. They played well on the defensive end but Toronto missed several open shots at a point in the game when they could have made a difference. Boston also took their game to another level on the offensive end making five more treys per game than they had averaged in bubble play before the playoffs began. It was a perfect storm, if you will. But with a day off to adjust and get used to playing a more difficult opponent than Toronto faced in the previous round, I expect the Raptors to win and even-up the series. The Raptors are as good as it gets defending the 3-pointer, so I expect Boston's 3-point success to return to normal in game 2. Toronto did a good job of forcing Boston into committing turnovers and this time I expect the Raptors to make them pay at the other end. Nick Nurse will make adjustments and I'm backing the Toronto Raptors on the money line on Tuesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

DENVER PK
UTAH @ DENVER | 9/01 | 8:30 PM EDT

The Nuggets took the series opener but appeared dead in the water after losing the next three contests. However, Jamal Murray continued his offensive onslaught to help Denver force a Game 7, which will be won by the team with the hotter shooter. While Utah's Donovan Mitchell has scored 51 or more points twice and is averaging 38.7, Murray has produced a pair of 50-point efforts while totaling 142 over the last three games. Look for Denver to become the 12th team to overcome a 3-1 series deficit.

TORONTO -1.5
BOSTON @ TORONTO | 9/01 | 5:30 PM EDT

Including the playoffs, the defending champion Raptors have gone 11-2 in the bubble thus far. Both of those losses came against Boston, including an 18-point setback in the series opener. In that one, Toronto was kept under 100 points for the first time in 18 contests. You shouldn't count on that happening again, but you can expect the Raptors to bounce back and even the series.

6 Unit Play. Take #724 Toronto -1.5 over Boston (5:30 p.m. ET, Tuesday, Sept. 1)

Toronto will look to rebound from a sluggish Game 1 loss when they take on the Boston. The Raptors saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end Sunday and they are 11-2 and 9-4 ATS in the Orlando bubble with both losses coming the Celtics. Toronto shot just 36.9%, in Game 1 of the series, which is their low mark since returning to action. Make no mistake, Boston is a good quality underdog bet but the Raptors are 22-9 ATS after failing to cover the spread and an even better at 13-3 ATS after a blowout loss by 15 or more points.

2 Unit Play. Take #15 N.Y. Islanders -120 over Philadelphia (7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1)

The New York Islanders have not been a fluke in Toronto. The Islanders are 10-3 and their defense has been suffocating, permitting only 1.69 GAG in the postseason. Philadelphia might have started hot in Toronto, but they are laboring now on both ends of the ice. The Flyers have lost four of six and allowed 20 goals in that stretch. Take away the four goals Philly had in Game 2 of this series in their lone victory and they have tallied 13 goals on their other nine most recent games played. The Isles are 11-4 against the Flyers the last few years and are a tough matchup for Philadelphia. This matchup is nearly identical to Tampa Bay and Boston and the Lightning closed out the Bruins last night and the Islanders do the same.

1 Unit Play. Take #18 Vegas -220 over Vancouver (9:45 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1)

Speaking of bad matchups, Vancouver trails in this series 3-1 and has lost 11 of 14 times in their brief history against Vegas. This is the best Canucks club in years, but they are no match for the bigger and stronger Golden Knights. Vegas is cutting off Vancouver's speed with continual hitting and forechecking and winning the battles in the corners and they are 17-5 in their last 22 games against winning teams. I am firmly convinced that Vegas and the Islanders will win their series and am taking conservative units on the off chance one or the other would lose today and coming back with larger plays in Game 6 with all things being equal.
