There are three teams in the American League I would grade an F: Orioles, Tigers and Royals.
So, from a value standpoint, I'm compelled to take this price in a meeting of two "F" teams especially when the favored Royals are pitching Homer Bailey.
Bailey actually has been pitching well recently. But he's still Homer Bailey and he carries a 5.44 day time ERA.
The Royals are going for a three-game sweep of the Tigers. They are 6-21 following a victory.
Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann is overdue for a victory. He was hammered by the Red Sox in his last start. However, he held the Nationals to one run on four hits in six innings during his prior start before Boston.

Roark v. Freeland
Kyle Freeland last started in the major league level on 5/30 of this year, then was sent down due to pure lack of ability to throw strikes and record outs period...let alone coming off a Cy Young-esque 2018 campaign. He had 4 starts down in AAA for the Rockies organization, and one could argue he regressed from his semi-terrible form up in the majors. He walked 5 batters per 9 innings, was able to strand not even 50% of the baserunners he allowed, and kept his HR/FB rate right at its pathetic level of roughly 1 per 5 fly balls. How Kyle Freeland appears as a starter on a Saturday in July and is a favorite for the game (and first 5 innings too kind of!) is beyond me and worth fading by itself!
The Reds facing lefties over the past month have been the most "patient" lineup going with close to 14% walk rate, good for tops in the MLB. They also have sported a .314 BABIP, both signs of getting on base, the main issue with Freeland, letting baserunners clear the bases and racking up a pitch count much too quickly. On a nice night in Denver at Coors, hard to imagine red hot Eugenio Suarez doesn't wreak havoc on Freeland right off the bat...and odds are there will be runners aplenty on base.
Tanner Roark isn't the easiest to back on the Reds stellar pitching staff but he is solid in July and his metrics are still wildly better than his opposing starter...ruling out bullpens completely here we hope!

N.L. EAST GAME OF THE YEAR

My 1000♦ Winner is on the WASHINGTON NATIONALS in their National League East clash against the Philadelphia Phillies. As of 6 am pacific, the line I see is Nationals -105. Be sure to list Sanchez and Arrieta.
Today's Analysis
The Washington Nationals will snag this series finale tonight, and in this one be sure you're listing the scheduled starting pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Jake Arrieta.
The Nationals are sitting in second place, and boast a record of 27-17 against National League East foes. Their offense is heating up at the right time, with an on-base percentage of .325, which ranks fourth in the league, led by Juan Soto, who has a team-high OBP of .403.
After yesterday's 4-3 road win, the momentum is in Washington's favor, as I think Soto will be able to get to Arrieta, after he went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in yesterday's win.
And there's more bad news for Arrieta, who also must contend with the power of Anthony Rendon, who leads the Nationals with 20 home runs home runs and is slugging .606, and also Adam Eaton, who has stroked 13 hits and is batting .351 over the last 10 games for them.
The Nationals have won 8 of 10 and over that time frame has outscored opponents by 16 runs, and now they look to tee off on Arrieta, who is dealing with bone spur issues in his right elbow. The problem has already affected his pitching for much of this season, which is why he has an elevated ERA, at 4.67.
I'd rather back the Nationals, who are also getting production from their staff, which has produced a 2.18 ERA during this 10-game run. Which is where Sanchez comes in. The right-hander starts in place of Max Scherzer, who was pulled from this start because of back tightness.
Sanchez will be just fine, as he's pitched well of late, going 5-0 with a 2.11 ERA in his last eight starts. He's also pitched six innings in six of his last seven outings. He'll neutralize the Phillies lineup and keep the Nationals in this game.
Just six games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves, the Nationals will ride their four-game win streak into this one and continue with a wealth of momentum.
