The D-backs are in a solid system that is 13-2 since 2004 playing on home favorites off a -140 or higher home favored win scoring 10 or more runs vs a team like SF that also won as a -140 or higher home favorite. Arizona is 5-0 with rest and has Kelly on the mound. SF is 0-4 off a win and has lost 36 of 51 vs losing teams as well as 7 of 10 with rest. My 1* Free Play is on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
This is the opener of a three-game set.
The visitors hand the ball to Jeff Samardzija (2-1, 3.51 ERA), who has interestingly allowed 11 first-inning runs over eight starts (and that includes eight long-balls.) Incredibly “The Shark” has a 12.38 ERA over the first inning, compared to a 1.36 ERA over his other 33 innings pitched.
Samardzija though hasn’t lasted longer than 5 1/3’s frames yet this year and he hasn’t won since mid April.
Unfortunately a date vs. the Diamondbacks is not what the doctor ordered for Samardzija to get back on track either as he’s a pedestrian 3-4 with a 4.12 ERA in 17 career appearances vs. them (it’s also interesting to note that the Giants themselves have been outscored 46-6 in the first inning this season.)
The home side counters with Merrill Kelly (3-4, 4.70) who comes in off a decent outing vs. the Braves, allowing three runs over seven innings of work.
Note that Arizona is one of the best hitting clubs in the Senior Circuit, collectively batting .260 with 64 home runs and an MLB best 102 doubles over 44 games played thus far.
I think the hard-hitting home side is well worth the price of admission in this spot. Lay the price.

Ben Burns is SO HOT with his 'premium' plays that some may not realize that he's also got a 12-2 RECORD with this month's 'free' plays. Here's another winner, this one coming from today's Pirates/Padres showdown at Petco Park.
While it got a little close, I won with the 'under' in last night's series opener. The Padres won 4-3. The Padres should have a solid advantage again this evening. Lucchesi has pitched well here. He's 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in five home starts. Lyles hasn't had as much success here. In 22 career appearances at Petco, he's got a poor 4.42 ERA. Lucchesi blanked the Bucs for five innings the only time he started against them. On the other hand, the last time that Lyles started against San Diego, he got crushed, losing 13-6. He gave up five earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. Consider San Diego.

We cashed in on the White Sox as a dog with Thursday's free pick and are ready to do it again with Baltimore on Friday. I'm not buying the recent offense surge for the Indians, who have been atrocious offensively all season. It was more of a result of the starters they were up against.
I look for Cleveland's offense to return to its poor form today. Baltimore's Dylan Bundy has a strong 3.64 ERA and 1.039 WHIP in his last 3 starts. He faced the Indians just once last season and was sharp, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings of a 3-1 home win.
That day he was up against the likes of Bauer, where today he's facing Indians' Jefry Rodriguez. Just so happens Rodriguez made one start against the Orioles in 2018 and he gave up 5 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
Indians are 3-8 in their last 11 after scoring 5 or more runs in their previous game. Take Baltimore!

The St. Louis Cardinals come into this game highly motivated for a victory. They have lost five of their last six overall, but they have only been outscored by seven runs during that six-game stretch. Look for them to get back on track here behind ace Miles Mikolas.
Mikolas was the Opening Day starter for the Cardinals. After getting off to a slow start, he has certainly turned things around of late. Mikolas is 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 0.750 WHIP in his last three starts to improve to 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.056 WHIP in nine starts this season.
Jose Leclerc will serve as an ‘opener’ for the Rangers before giving way to Adrian Sampson. Leclerc was the team’s closer, but he got demoted and now has a 6.32 ERA on the season. Samspon is 0-3 with a 5.25 ERA and 1.556 WHIP in five starts and four relief appearances. It’s safe to say the Rangers are in trouble on the mound today.
St. Louis is 21-6 in Mikolas’ last 27 starts. The Cardinals are 14-3 in Mikolas’ last 17 road starts. St. Louis is a perfect 9-0 in Mikolas’ last nine road starts vs. a team with a losing record. The Rangers are 0-6 in their last six home games following a road trip of seven or more days. Texas is 0-7 in its last seven Friday games. Bet the Cardinals Friday.

I'll take my chances here with Minnesota at this price all day every day. Twins have one of the best records in the big leagues and are 8-3 in their last 11 games, which includes a 11-6 win in the series opener yesterday. Minnesota will send out arguably their best pitcher of 2019 in Martin Perez, who is 4-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 6 starts.
Seattle was the talk of the league when they started the season 13-2. It's been all down hill since, as they are now 9-22 in their last 31. What was a potent offense has gone ice cold. Mariners are hitting .186 as a team and averaging just 3.6 runs over their last 7 games. Seattle's Marco Gonzales has great overall numbers, but is trending alongside the rest of his teammates. Mariners have lost his last 3 starts and he owns a 4.63 ERA and 1.628 WHIP in those outings. Give me the Twins -107!
