Ricky's 1* Free Play on the Golden State Warriors.
I had a play on the Warriors in their Game 3 win. If you didn’t get a chance to read that analysis, I believe it’s worth a quick look right now, as for the most part the logic behind that one directly pertains to this particular selection as well for me:
As a “key angle” I stated: - History of success when dealing with adversity. Golden State dominated in its 121-104 home win in Game 1, but then collapsed in LA’s 135-131 historic come from behind win in Game 2. Can anyone say “letdown spot” for the Clippers here? The Warriors have won championships without DeMarcus Cousins and if they’re going to do it this season again, they’ll have to do it without the big man, as he tore his achilles in the Game 2 setback. Golden State though is filled with veteran talent and I expect it to step up and take advantage of this content Clippers side with a resounding victory.
Key Trends:
- Golden State is 12-7 ATS in its last 19 when playing with two days rest.
- The Warriors are 16-10 ATS in their last 26 after scoring 110 points or more in four straight games.
- The Clippers are a horrible 11-21 ATS in their last 32 as a home underdog, including only 3-9 ATS this year.
The verdict: I think the Clippers have hit the wall. Golden State is without Cousins, but its veteran core is about to close out this opening round series strong in my opinion. Consider the defending champs in Game 4!

Today Boston eliminates Indiana from the playoffs in front of the Pacers fans.
The loss of Victor Oladipo in January was just too much of a crushing blow to overcome for Indiana - especially now that the meaningless regular season has been completed, and the meaningful postseason is here.
The Celtics have controlled the action on both ends of the floor, as they have forced the Pacers into some ugly quarters of basketball that have decided the fate in ALL 3 of the Celtics wins and covers. In Game One, Indiana scored just 8 points in the third quarter and lost by 10. In Game Two, the Pacers were limited to just 12 points in the 4th quarter, as the C's scored the final 10 points in the contest to win by 8 as the -7 1/2 point chalk! Then on Friday, another 12 points for the host Pacers as they wound up losing by 8 points as the -3 point home favorite.
Now the Celtics are installed as the road favorite, and rightfully so, as they have shown that they know how to handle this compromised Indiana attack. With their win on Friday, Boston has now bested Indiana 6 straight times since January, and 5 times over the past 3 weeks!
Kyrie Irving who missed Boston's run to the conference finals last year due to injury is showing that he cannot be stopped, as he is averaging over 25 points per game in this series, to go along with his 8 assists per game.
The Celtics have won the battle of the boards in all 3 games, outrebounding the Pacers by 13, 8 and 5 respectively, and Boston has not missed a beat with the late season injury to Marcus Smart, as Jaylen Brown has filled in just fine.
Indiana has stated that even though they have lost all 3 games, they have been in ALL 3 games, and while that is true, the fact of the matter is Nate McMillan's club just does not have the resources to get past the better team in Boston.
Unless Boston falls asleep at the wheel today, this series will be over. The Celtics have the chance of becoming the first team in either conference to get off the floor in this opening round, and with a date against #1 seed Milwaukee likely up next, Brad Stevens will make sure his team knows they cannot slip up today.
Lay the small road wood with Boston as they complete the sweep.

After being forced to play a make-up doubleheader on Saturday, due to Friday's postponement, I am going to look for the bats to be a little sluggish this Sunday night when the Braves and the Indians conclude their interleague series from Progressive Field.
This one sure shapes up to be a game where the pitchers should be able to work deep and dominate, as southpaw Max Fried opposes right winger Shane Bieber.
Fried and Bieber sport pretty similar lines as each pitcher makes their 4th start of the season. Fried comes in with a 2-0 mark and just under 20 innings worked, as his ERA is 0.92. Bieber also comes in with a 2-0 mark, and a 1.71 ERA for his 21 innings worked this season. All 3 of Bieber's starts have played Under the total too!
Yesterday's double-dip saw some big offense posted as the teams combined for a dozen runs in the opener, and 15 more in the nightcap.
I have a feeling the bats are going to be a bit "spent" this evening.
The Tribe are 7-3-2 Under the total in Bieber's last dozen starts on grass, and my feeling is this one sets up to be an Under as well in the final meeting between the 1997 World Series opponents.

The set-up: These teams split a double-header yesterday, with the Tribe taking an 8-4 win in the first game and the Braves rallying late for an 8-7 win in the second. I like the Indians to bounce back in the rubber match tonight though. So far Atlanta pitcher Max Fried has been exemplary, but I think he runs into a buzz saw here vs. this red hot Indians’ offense. He’ll also have his hands full with vs. his counterpart Shane Bieber.
The pitchers: Fried, who is 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA who has so far thrown three straight strong outings, faces a difficult task throwing opposite Bieber, who is 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA. Bieber most recently gave up one run over six innings in a win over he M’s on Tuesday.
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but ATL is still only 37-41 (-2.8 units) on the road when the money line in the contest is set in the -125 to +125 range, while Cleveland is 5-1 (+3.2 unit) as a home favorite already this year.

I'll take my chances here with the Yankees winning by at least 2 runs on Sunday. New York has won 4 of 5 and all 4 wins have come by at least 2 runs. That includes a 6-2 win over KC on Friday and a 9-2 victory on Saturday.
Yankees will send out James Paxton, who is coming off a masterful start at home against the Red Sox, where he allowed just 2 hits and struck out 12 over 8 shutout innings. He now has a 0.66 ERA and 0.585 WHIP in 2 home starts with New York.
As long as the Yankees' bats don't go ice cold, they should have no problem scoring enough to put this game well out of reach. Royals bullpen has to be shot after the last couple of days and today's starter, Jorge Lopez, is 0-2 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.304 WHIP in 4 starts. Give me the Yankees -1.5 (-114).
