Your Saturday freebie is the Vikings to win and cover at home of the Jaguars.
It's all about which coaches place an emphasis on the preseason, and which do not.
Minnesota's Mike Zimmer has shown that he and his staff actually care about winning the meaningless games, as his team's opening preseason game saw them run over the Broncos in Denver, 42-28. That win moved his mark as head coach to 14-4 straight up in the month of August, and 13-5 against the spread in those 18 games.
Jacksonville landed on the short side of a 24-20 final at home against New Orleans last week, as the Jags under Doug Marrone dropped to 5-9 straight up, and 4-7-3 against the spread.
The Vikings have some veteran depth at quarterback, as once Kirk Cousins will give way to Trevor Siemien, and then to Kyle Sloter, all of whom were able to find the end-zone in Denver.
With the Norsemen showing they are one of the teams in the NFL that likes to do damage in the preseason, I will lay the points against go with Minnesota to get the win and cover.

Saturday's comp play release is the Cubs and the Pirates to land Under the total once again.
Why not go to the well one more time in this Cubs-Pirates series and look for the pitchers to once again keep the batters in check.
Last night it was Cole Hamels and Trevor Williams keeping the scoreboard quiet, as the teams played a second straight Under in an many nights.
The Cubs and the Pirates are now 8-3 Under in their last 11 series meetings this season.
Chicago is now on an 8-2 Under run their last 10 games, while Pittsburgh is now 5-1 Under in their last 6 games contested.
As for the pitchers, Tyler Chatwood will go for the Cubs after making his last 3 appearances out of the bullpen. One of those bullpen stints was a scoreless frame against the Pirates in early August. Just looking for Chatwood to give us 5 quality innings tonight.
Pittsburgh will go with Joe Musgrove who has also seen each of his last 3 starts hold Under the total. Musgrove has allowed 3 earned runs or less in each of his last 4 starts and 6 of his last 7 overall.

The Toronto Argos are coming off a bye week, and their last game was a thrilling 42-41 comeback win over Ottawa. They were trailing by 24 points in the third quarter of that game, and were quite fortunate to have rallied for just their second win. Toronto has allowed opponents to average over 31 points per game this season, only the lowly Montreal Alouettes have allowed more. The Lions come in with just a 3-4 record, but they look a lot more dangerous since veteran Travis Lulay took over at quarterback. In four games as a starter, Lulay has thrown for 1,171 yards and five TDs. Three of those games came against the top three teams in the league (Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton). Believe it or not, the Oakland A’s actually have a chance to tie the Houston Astros for 1st place in the AL West with a win tonight. They were 10 games out after a loss to the Astros on July 10th. But they’ve gone 22-8 since, while the Astros have struggled to a 12-16 mark thanks to several injuries in their lineup and a shaky bullpen.
I’ll gladly back Oakland’s Trevor Cahill tonight. He is 4-2 with a 3.39 ERA and 1.104 WHIP in 14 starts this season, including a perfect 3-0 with a 0.99 ERA and 0.832 WHIP in seven home starts. He has only given up 11 base runners and one homer in 9 2/3 innings against the Astros this season, and this will be his first home start against them.
Dallas Keuchel isn’t exactly pitching to his Cy Young form from a couple seasons ago. He is 9-9 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.239 WHIP in 25 starts this season. Keuchel has struggled in recent starts against the A’s, going 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA in his last three starts against them, giving up 4 homers and 11 earned runs in 20 2/3 innings.
Oakland is 39-13 in its last 52 games overall. The A’s are 18-4 in their last 22 home games. Oakland is 9-1 in its last 10 home games vs. a left-handed starter. The A’s are 6-0 in Cahill’s last six starts. The Astros are 1-6 in their last seven games overall. Bet the A’s Saturday.

This line is at a pick'em price and this is offering great line value with Trevor Cahill on the mound for the A's. The Oakland right-hander is 3-0 with a 0.99 ERA in his 7 home starts this season. Though his numbers against the Astros appear a little sub-par on the surface, the fact is that he faced them both times at Houston. Cahill is a much different pitcher when he is at home plus note that he allowed only 7 hits in 9 and 2/3 innings spanning those two road starts at Houston this season. As for Astros southpaw Dallas Keuchel, he had a great start at Oakland in May but, prior to that he went 0-2 with 10 earned runs allowed in less than 13 innings of work spanning his last two starts versus the A's. One of those outings was also this season and the other was late last season. In other words, those results are still very valid in terms of analyzing what to expect in today's match-up. Also, Keuchel allowed 4 homers in those two starts versus the A's. As for Cahill, he has given up 1 homer against the Astros in 3 career starts. I'll gladly take my chances here with the UNDER 7.5 in Saturday's NL East afternoon clash between the Phillies and Mets. This one shouldn't need a whole lot of explanation, as we have two of the top NL starters squaring off. New York's Jacob deGrom will be up against Philadelphia's Jake Arrieta. Despite a mere 7-7 record, deGrom has posted a ridiculous 1.81 ERA and 0.969 WHIP in 24 starts. He's on his game right now, as he has a 1.74 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings over his last 3 starts. Arrieta has a 2.70 ERA and 1.050 WHIP in his last 3 starts and in his lone start against the Mets this season, he allowed just 5 hits over 7 1/3 shutout innings. I just don't see either team doing much of anything offensively in this one. Give me the UNDER 7.5!

As a betting strategy, you want to pick your spots with dicey road favorites but thinking that the Dodgers just might be worth a look here.
