This is a great spot and price to back the Cubs at home, as Chicago is in excellent position here to extend their lead in the NL Central over Milwaukee. The Cubs are riding a massive wave of momentum after David Bote's pinch-hit walk-off grand slam in Sunday's 4-3 win against the Nationals. While Chicago is riding high, the Brewers have dropped 5 of their last 7.

I'll gladly take my chances here with the UNDER 7 in Tuesday's interleague action that has the Rockies visiting the Astros. Houston will send out Justin Verlander, who has to be chomping at the bit to take the mound after giving up 6 runs in just 2 innings in his last start at home against the Mariners. It was just the third time this season that Verlander allowed 5 or more runs. In each of the previous two instances, he rebounded with a great start. He allowed 5 runs at Tampa on 6/30. His next outing he allowed 2 runs in 7 innings with 10 strikeouts. He gave up 5 runs to Detroit on 7/15 and in his next start threw 6 shutout innings with 11 K's. He's also got a 1.37 ERA and 0.763 WHIP in 3 interleague starts this season. German Marquez will take the mound for Colorado and he's got a strong 3.22 ERA and 1.045 WHIP in 11 road starts and a 1.98 ERA and 0.805 WHIP in 2 interleague appearances. Give me the UNDER 7!

This is a battle of two teams that are clearly playing out the string, the Halos 2-6 in their L8 road games while the Padres are 6-12 L18 overall. The Angel's Barria looks like he might be worth a look here as he's 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in his L3. The Padres Brett Kennedy was beat up pretty good by the Brewers in his debut, throwing 87 pitches in four innings while allowing six earned runs. The LA Angels have won five of their last seven following a 6-3 triumph in the opener of this three-game series with the San Diego Padres yesterday. I like the Friars to even the series with a win here Tuesday night.
San Diego righty Brett Kennedy (0-1, 13.50 ERA) was lit up for six runs and 11 hits over four innings against Milwaukee in his major-league debut, but keep in mind that the 23 year old was an outstanding 10-0 with a 2.72 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 16 starts at Triple-A El Paso prior to his promotion to the big leagues. I expect his nerves to have settled by now and that we'll see a much more composed performance tonight.
The Halos hand the ball to rookie right-hander Jaime Barria (7-7, 3.59 ERA) who is in a letdown spot after pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings against Detroit his last time out. We can also note that he's 1-2 on the road with a 6.35 ERA in his first three outings against National League teams.
