Game 6 - Cubs at Indians
By Sportsbook.ag

Chicago Cubs (112-64) at Cleveland Indians (104-70)

Sportsbook.ag Line: Chicago -142, Cleveland +132, Total: 7

Game 1) Chicago at Cleveland (-110) 6-0 (Favorite - Under 6.5)
Game 2) Chicago (-155) at Cleveland 5-1 (Favorite - Under 7.5)
Game 3) Cleveland (+190) at Chicago 1-0 (Underdog - Under 8 )
Game 4) Cleveland (+110) at Chicago 7-2 (Underdog - Over 6.5)
Game 5) Cleveland at Chicago (-220) 3-2 (Favorite - Under 6.5)

The Indians, up 3-2 in the World Series, look to finish the Cubs at Progressive Field and win their first title since 1948.

The Cubs (103-58) and Indians (94-67) split the first two games of the series in Cleveland, but Terry Francona’s team took control of the Fall Classic with two consecutive victories at Wrigley Field. But the Cubs, on the brink of elimination, won Game 5 on Sunday night to force a Game 6 and send the series back to Progressive Field.

RHP Jake Arrieta (18-8, 3.10 ERA during the regular season) will start for the Cubs, and he’ll be opposed by RHP Josh Tomlin (13-9, 4.40 ERA during the regular season).

Arrieta started Game 2 and was brilliant, allowing one earned run on two hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Tomlin earned a no-decision in Game 3 but was very effective, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings and giving up just two hits.

The Indians’ bullpen—led by LHP Andrew Miller (1 ER in 17 IP; 29 SO to 4 BB) and RHP Cody Allen (0 ER in 11 2/3 IP; 22 SO to 4 BB)—has been sensational, and the Cubs have arguably the most dominant closer in the game in LHP Aroldis Chapman (3 ER in 13 IP; 18 SO to 5 BB).

The Indians have gone 5-1 at home this postseason; Joe Maddon’s team has posted a 4-3 road mark.

Only LF/2B Ben Zobrist (13-for-55, 4 2B, 3B, 4 RBI) and OF Jorge Soler (2-for-13, 3B) got hits off Tomlin in Game 3 before he was pulled for Miller in the fifth.

3B Kris Bryant (15-for-56, 5 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI) broke out of his slump on Sunday with a homer, and 1B Anthony Rizzo (14-for-57, 5 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI) and SS Addison Russell (11-for-56, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI) woke up with a double and two hits, respectively.

If they’re locked in for Game 6, it could spell trouble for Tomlin. The Cubs should get a boost from DH Kyle Schwarber (3-for-8, 2B, 2 RBI), who will return to the lineup as a designated hitter.

Schwarber only got one at-bat (0-for-1) in the three games at Wrigley. In three postseason starts this month, Arrieta has gone 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA in 16 2/3 innings pitched.

The Tribe didn’t get a hit off Arrieta in Game 2 until the sixth inning, when 2B Jason Kipnis (10-for-51, 2 2B, 3 HR, 7 RBI) doubled. He scored on a wild pitch, and Arrieta was removed with two outs in the inning after 1B Mike Napoli (8-for-43, 3 2B, HR, 2 RBI) singled to shallow left.

SS Francisco Lindor (18-for-50, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI) and 3B Jose Ramirez (12-for-47, 2 2B, HR, 3 RBI) have had terrific series—8-for-19 and 6-for-20, respectively—so Arrieta will have to be particularly careful with them.

Napoli and DH Carlos Santana (9-for-44, 2B, 3 HR, 3 RBI) have homered off Arrieta, and Kipnis has three hits against him. In three postseason starts this month, Tomlin has gone 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA in 15 1/3 innings.

Chicago Cubs vs Cleveland Indians

Chicago Cubs were able to stave off elimination Sunday with a 3-2 victory in Game 5 at Wrigley Field and now face another Win-or-Be-Eliminated game as the series shifts back to Cleveland. Current odds at Bovada.lv has Cubs -$1.43 road favorites with the total set at 7 runs across all shops.

Cubs 50-37 in an opposing park platting 5.21 runs/game should feel pretty confident sending Jake Arrieta to the mound. The right-hander has pitched better on the road (12-4, 12-6 TSR) than at home (7-5, 9-7 TSR) this season and enters off a solid 5 2/3 innings of 1 run ball in a win at Progressive Field in Game 2. Cleveland flourishing in front of the home audience this season (59-29) crossing 5.5 per/contest counter with Josh Tomlin. The right-hander blanking Cubbies on two hits in Tribe's Game 3 victory has allowed 2 or fewer runs in each of his three post season starts this season.

Some telling gems among a sea of baseball betting stats leap out favoring Cleveland clinching their first World Series Championship since 1948. The one run Game 5 loss bodes well for Cleveland's chances, since Indians are on a perfect 8-0 streak off a one run exact loss. Additionally, Indians have a sparkling 9-0 streak in their first game home off a road swing. One final betting nugget. 'Under' gambler's who've cleaned up with Cleveland this post season (2-11 O/U) won't jump ship knowing Indians are 0-8-1 O/U in Tomlin's last nine starts.

World Series Game 6 Betting Preview
By Covers.com

Chicago Cubs at Cleveland Indians (+130, 7)

The World Series could be decided by the team that gets a lead early and turns things over to the bullpen. The Chicago Cubs finally became that team with the early lead and the dominant reliever in Game 5 and play another elimination game when they visit the Cleveland Indians for Game 6 on Tuesday.

The Cubs, who trail 3-2 in the series, asked Aroldis Chapman to record eight outs in a one-run game Sunday and were rewarded when he allowed one hit and struck out four. "That was our best opportunity," Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters of the decision to have Chapman work overtime. "I thought right now, based on the bullpen usage recently, he's actually kind of fresh. He hasn't been overused in the last part of this season nor throughout the playoffs." The Indians, who used left-hander Andrew Miller for multiple innings since the start of the postseason, are keeping things loose while following the lead of manager Terry Francona. "We have the good plane again, so we can fly around for a while," Francona told reporters of the trip back to Cleveland. "I don't care. Then we'll show up whatever day is the next day, and see if we can beat them."

WEATHER REPORT: The weather in Cleveland is expected to be perfect for playoff baseball (the forecast for Game 7 may be a different story, but Indians fans are hoping it doesn't come down to a wet Wednesday). Tuesday at Progressive Field it is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-60's. There is a 10 percent chance of showers and there will be a light 5 mph breeze blowing straight out to center field.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Jake Arrieta (1-1, 3.78 ERA) vs. Indians RH Josh Tomlin (2-0, 1.76)

Arrieta took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in Game 2 at Cleveland and ended up with the win, his first of the postseason. The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner had a little trouble controlling his arsenal with three walks, but struck out six. "I just want to execute with quality in and out of the strike zone, and try to get ahead in the count as early and as often as I can to open up some more options for myself," Arrieta told reporters of his approach to Game 6.

Tomlin surrendered two hits in 4 2/3 scoreless innings in Game 3 and was yanked by Francona at the first hint of trouble in a game the Indians went on to win 1-0. The 32-year-old Texan allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last eight appearances going back to the regular season and yielded one home run in that span. Tomlin is going on three days' rest in Game 6 but only threw 58 pitches in Game 3.

TRENDS:

* Cubs are 4-1 in Arrieta's last 5 starts with 5 days of rest.
* Indians are 7-0 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
* Indians are 5-0 in Tomlin's last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record.
* Under is 6-1-1 in Cubs' last 8 interleague road games vs. a right-handed starter.
* Over is 12-3-3 in Arrieta's last 18 road starts.
* Under is 11-1 in Indians' last 12 playoff games.
* Under is 12-3-1 in Tomlin's last 16 starts overall.
* Cubs are 6-1 in their last 7 games with Joe West behind home plate.

CONSENSUS: The public is favoring the road favorite Cubs with their backs against the wall in Game 6 at a rate of 55 percent. Under is picking up 60 percent of the wagers on the total.
